True story: I saw Thrice in NYC and after the show my friends and I were standing outside and Dustin just walked up behind us and was like "follow me". He played a solo acoustic show for like 20 people in a park across the street. He played this and everyone sang along it was unreal. It's on youtube somewhere.
I remember this got minor play on the radio when it was released. Along with Under A Killing Moon, which to me, oddly got more airplay than this track. For whatever reason, they never really "broke through", but I would say that didn't hurt them at all, as their material only got better from this point forward.
@@IzzyTheNose oh agreed :) I think the last decade or so (and now) was/is the best time to discover this band. They keep you entertained(?) for a looong time... But one thing I learned from recommending them to ppl is ...what I wrote in my previous reply. It takes a special kind of a positive pessimist to fully appreciate them, I guess. - tho there must be many kinds of fans/followers, as with everything else. Most (from my experience) find them way too pessimistic, or/and don't like their genre(s).
I was in half priced books looking through the CD's. The name resonated with me so I bought it. Little did I know the impact this album would have on me and my life
I sit here clutching useless lists And keys for doors that don't exist I crack my teeth on pearls I tear into the history Just show me what it means to me in this world Cause I am due for a miracle I'm waiting for a sign I'll stare straight into the sun And I won't close my eyes Til I understand or go blind I see the parts but not the whole I study saints and scholars both No perfect plan unfurls Do I trust my heart of just my mind Why is truth so hard to find In this world Yeah in this world Cause I am due for a miracle I'm waiting for a sign I'll stare straight into the sun And I won't close my eyes Til I understand or go blind I know that there's a point I've missed A shrine or stone I haven't kissed A scar that never graced my wrist A mirror that hasn't met my fist But I can't help feeling that I'm Due for a miracle I'm waiting for a sign I'll stare straight into the sun And I won't close my eyes
I remember when this album came out and that bass line just hooked into my skin. I honestly think it's one of Ed's best and it gives me chills every time I hear it
I know Terahashi's mellowed out and not fond of the flashy riffs here, but I still love this album as much as I did when it came out. (For some reason, I misremembered for a long time and thought he was the drummer, who, frankly, is absolutely killing it here)
It is an Insane riff, i must say. Those notes sound good coming from the bass. But when Tapei, or Tepei comes in with the notes on lead guitar in the chorus, it just completed my mind.

@@malum9478 This not a random quote and has a lot to do with the song. It is a totally relevant quote considering the song is about spirituality. This quote may be why the sun is the main form of imagery here. Dustin has made it clear in interviews that C.S. Lewis is a major influence on him. He takes imagery and lines from The Space Trilogy by Lewis in other songs as well. One day you will see that Lewis was not wrong.
Hell yeah i got a platinum medel for the junction half pipe stage it was the only platinum medal i got it was hard to get platinum in freestyle events and the challenges where hair pulling some of them ssx forever
That sleeper bass riff is killer. Miss this tone.

Youll tell this to your grandchildren and they'll look at you like you said you were abducted by kidnappers.

Not enough ppl feel these lyrics...
Nor like this music, somehow.

That always happends they put the sorry songs on the radio
Because the entertainment industry puts mediocre processed music on the radio instead of real solid hits.

I got the copy I have now from HPB! (I wore out previous copies because CDs are so fragile...)
Perfect song for your solar eclipse party.
I sit here clutching useless lists
And keys for doors that don't exist
I crack my teeth on pearls
I tear into the history
Just show me what it means to me in this world
Cause I am due for a miracle
I'm waiting for a sign
I'll stare straight into the sun
And I won't close my eyes
Til I understand or go blind
I see the parts but not the whole
I study saints and scholars both
No perfect plan unfurls
Do I trust my heart of just my mind
Why is truth so hard to find
In this world
Yeah in this world
Cause I am due for a miracle
I'm waiting for a sign
I'll stare straight into the sun
And I won't close my eyes
Til I understand or go blind
I know that there's a point I've missed
A shrine or stone I haven't kissed
A scar that never graced my wrist
A mirror that hasn't met my fist
But I can't help feeling that I'm
Due for a miracle
I'm waiting for a sign
I'll stare straight into the sun
And I won't close my eyes
Thanks for this! Can't minimize RUclips to read the lyrics.
* turns up volume some more *

I can't get through this song without crying. I wanted to sing this on stage, but sob every time I try. I feel it so hard.
My guitar has been in C standard for months, thanks guys.
@jasper426 The whole album was recorded in Drop C.
Drop D, Drop C, who cares, it’s the same difference. Just modulate.
Ohhhhh I just went back to my FuseTV days.
The Hot Topic of music channels, lol. That was pretty much always on in the background at my place for the entirety of my junior high haha😂
This song is LIFE💜💜💜

My ex that I still love broke up with me while I was jamming to this album back in the early '00s. Very sentimental to me 🎃🖤
Thank you.
