Claire and Jill are the ones that stand out as being odd for swearing. The difference between Jill in RE Revelations and RE3R/RE Death Island is also very stark.

RE2R probably takes place between September 29 and 30. It is hard to tell. You can examine the board in the western office in the OG, and it says "It is today's date. September 29th, Michael's festival". But RE2R's ending song cue says: "Next up on this boring Wednesday...", which was September 30th in 1998. Guess RE2R started before 12:00 a.m. on September 29th, and ended in the morning of September 30th. It is interesting how RE3R aged a lot better than RE2R. Bullshit moments aside, it demands way more from the player. I used to lament the cut content, but what is there is pretty solid. Jill and Nikolai suck, but Carlos makes up for both of them. He has great personality and seems to be the guy that tries to keep everyone's spirits up even in the most desperate times. That is why his quips and jokes actually work. Even corny lines like "carlossless world" somehow do not make me cringe. I don't know how Capcom pulled it off, given how atrocious most of their new dialogue is now, but they did. I also really, really like the hospital in this game from the narrative and artistic point of view. The color pallette, the mood, the music are so good. And the nurses' journal about how they desperately tried to help the infected and how guilty the felt when they were forced to abandon their patients is pretty haunting. For the first time, these journals and notes do not contain cringe writing. On the subject of cringe writing, I blame the fans. There seems to be a notion that bad writing and stupid dialogue are an intentional part of RE, and that is just wrong. This belief is rooted in RE1's bad voice acting. But that was not on purpose. RE1 just did not have professional english translation. The bad dialogue was an earnest attempt from the devs who were somewhat familiar with the english language to translate the script from Japanese, which is why it really is charming. Mikami also stated some lines were translated in a certain way so that the Japanese players could easily understand then because the first game did not support Japanese language at all. Like "Stop it! Don't open that door!" Starting from RE2, the dialogue was much better. In CV it got pretty bad, but it was kinda intentional because the develolers went for gothic theatrical vibe, which was misplaced. Zero also had a wild theatrical villain with horrible performance. RE4 is perceived to be campy, but that game is intentionally made to mock american action movies in certain parts. RE5 and 6 do not have stupid shit in it. It has some bombastic speeches, but nothing more. Bad writing and stupid dialogue in RE2R and RE3R is not a result of mistranslation or a specific tone, it is merely a terrible attempt at humor. Same as Rev 2, where most of Moira's dialogue makes me shudder, and callbacks to Barry's lines are just stupid. Edit. RE3 starts on Sep. 28th, around the time Jill gets to the Clock Tower it's Sep. 29th. Then she falls unconcious untill Oct. 1st. I also have a feeling that the T-Virus takes longer to turn people into zombies when they are alive after being infected. Remember in RE1 it took the keeper several days to turn. But if a zombie kills its victim, the virus works faster. Another edit. The device on Nemesis' chest definitely suppresses the parasite. It is located in the exact same spot from which the parasite emerges during the second and third boss fights. The device was probably destroyed in the subway, hence its mutation. But I wonder if the device wasn't destroyed, would Nemesis not be able to trigger its intense regeneration and die? Nikolai was loyal to Umbrella in the OG. But he was killing other supervisors to attain a stronger bargaining position to demand more money as the only one with the data. He wants to kill Jill for the same reason. Moreover, in the canon timeline Nikolai survives. You can find his report in RE Survivor. It is an interesting read because it confirms he was monitoring the situation after the Mansion Incident and informed Umbrella that Jill and Chris were preparing to file a report against the corporation. And the latest entry is October 6th, which confirms him flying away is the canon event. Overall, I like this game too. I remember that even after my first playthrough I was not too dissapointed. Some aspects pissed me off, like how Nemesis is useless on anything below Nightmare. I also remember thinking that the devs rushed through some story sections, but that mostly comes from Nemesis. I still think the OG devs, both in RE2 and RE3, had better understanding of a slow burn horror. Like in RE2 og they really take the time to tease Birkin without showing him too much. You hear him roaring in the cutscene, then you see a glimpse of him when he kills Irons or Ben. And on your first playthrough, you do not see him in full untill his G2 boss fight. Even the CG cutscene where he slaughters Hunk's unit does not show him too much. It is a very tasteful horror direction, reminds me of the first Alien. The remake just drops him on you without any build up. And it is the same with Nemesis. I get that the OG players know everything, but you can still do the same suspense while changing something. But overall, when it comes to gameplay, RE3R is a blast to play on higher difficulties. And when it comes to story, one particular review mentioned how difficult it is to adapt RE3's story. Because before you meet Carlos' team, absolutely nothing happens story-wise. Jill just fumbles around the city without a goal. And I agree. That is probably why the begining is so streamlined. They rush through what little story the first hour of the OG has and get to the meat of it. Cannot really hold it against the developers in this case. I just wish there was a checkpoint on Inferno upon exiting the subway.

I agree about Carlos. I don't mind the way his personality is in RE3R. The cringe acting of the older RE games is also not the fault of the actors. According to sources such as IMDb and MobyGames, yes. The latter claims he's RE4 remilk's producer for whatever reason, but the other information is consistent.
It's funny how Umbrella had weapons that could have made multiple contract from militaries by selling things like the remote control hunters from Code Veronica and the UT Troopers from Survivor. They always make impractical things like Tyrants, Mr.X and so on. None of those guys can be mass produce and can't be deployed in difficult areas like the UT troopers and Hunters can. Those guys have to be flown in to battle by helicopter and can turn on the friendly forces, They also can't operate weaponry like AA guns, ATGM's and other anti armor weapons.
The Seeker drones that accompanied the Hunter IIs from Code Veronica were a creation of the rival organization, not Umbrella. Don’t you remember the Tyrants being mass produced on Sheena Island in Resident Evil Survivor? Also, there are various Tyrants in different Resident Evil games (0, 1R, 2, 3, Outbreak, Dead Aim, Infinite Darkness, Damnation), many of them cloned from the T-002 Tyrant from RE1R. Also, the Ivans and TALOS wielded missile launchers in Umbrella Chronicles.
@@idi-jq6cj I didn't know about the seekers being made by the rival organization. What I meant by "Not being mass produce" is that most guys can't mass produce T-103's easily(Usually contracts gives the military the Technical data package for the weapon and can use it for whatever they want) and always came at a lost for what you get. Mr. X is not a good weapon for war as he's a very large target for the enemy to see and his combat capabilities is not very good(Dead factory) TALOS is most likely very expensive compared to a guy firing a stinger missile and is still a big target for enemy forces. These weapons are expensive and don't give the guy buying them a good combat capability like how drones with explosives are in more recent wars.
@ It’s hard to disagree, but I believe the secondary purpose with having the Tyrants be ultimate life forms may be a factor to consider with why Umbrella continued to mass produce them and sell them as BOWs. The additional mutations that Tyrants can undergo can also be a marketable aspect. And on a more sadistic side, the use of certain test subjects in the Tyrant programs, like how 4 prisoners were used initially and 2 survived to become the T-001 and T-002 Tyrants, indicates a need to make use of discardable populations like prisoners.

It took almost 4 years, and going through an experience as bad as RE4R, to better appreciate RE3R.
I played this game recently, I LOVE the dodging system in this game. I don't really know why, I just feel it's sooooo satisfying. For some reason, I have a harder time dodging on Assisted and Standard difficulties. I think it's because on those difficulties I'm given too much time to react, so I am able to think about it too much. If I don't have the time to think, I feel I can successfully perform a dodge easier, if that makes sense? I played Nightmare difficulty but haven't been able to complete Inferno, unfortunately. Stuck on the final boss, I need to practice more with dodging, final form Nemesis is a little too fast for me on that difficulty.
Because the attacks are faster on the higher difficulties and you’re dodging into attacks, it means that dodging on reaction is more possible. What you said about being given too much of a grace period for when to dodge on the easier difficulties leading to more confusion on whether you’re about to be hit or not makes sense.

All the more the reason we need the classics ported to modern platforms. Ik it's on GOG, but those ports are just serviceable at best. I've read it's just Capcom way of saying they don't care about the OGs anymore so they let GOG do all the work while they focus on remilking RE games because sales.

What you said about being given too much of a grace period for when to dodge on the easier difficulties leading to more confusion on whether you’re about to be hit or not makes sense.
@idi-jq6cj 😊😊
As someone who grew up with RE3 og this demake is atrocious, nearly everything about it. It may be a fun little game if it wasn't called RE3 but it is.
Ngl i will always hate re3 remake, i wish they didnt cut out the content the original had tbh
The cut content doesn’t really bother me.
@@idi-jq6cjreally, i played re3 1999 after re3 2020 and was shocked how much was cut
@@user-lrg3glm6rhdyv I’m aware of how much was cut, like the Grave Digger, but at that point, it’s a matter of the quality of what’s there, which is actually better than I thought.
Why add Dr Bard ???!
Probably to have it make more sense how Carlos would find the hospital for Jill without it being convenient. Dr. Bard was probably also added to demonstrate the affiliation between Umbrella and the US Government.
Still doesnt compare to the og which is far better
I haven't played RE3 OG in depth to truly understand it on a better level and make a proper comparison. I'm not sure if its story and characters actually have depth. On a gameplay side, I'd side with the Remake. I know with details like Nikolai probably working for the rival organization in RE3R, I have problems.
All the more the reason we need the classics ported to modern platforms. Ik it's on GOG, but those ports are just serviceable at best. I've read it's just Capcom way of saying they don't care about the OGs anymore so they let GOG do all the work while they focus on remilking RE games because sales.
@@uncanny-hector-1906 GOG?
@@idi-jq6cj GOG or Good Old Games. It's like Steam on PC but you actually own any game you buy DRM-free. They dig up old PC ports and make them playable on modern hardware with controller support and some fixes. Last year, they managed to find old PC versions of re1-re3 and got Capcom's approval to port and put them in the store.
Gog (good old games) is a platform like steam. It belongs to cd project, i think, the developers of the witcher and cyberpunk. Its different in the sense that their games have no anti piracy protection, you can download the game's installer and save and install it at will anywhere. The game is essentially yours.
I was mad at the change of Murphy, since that character was a friend of Carlos that in the OG he had to put down as he was turning into a zombie, in my opinion it gave Carlos more development and emotion. It's a shame they had to kill him just so Nikolai seems like a big douchebag and because he's the antagonist, very generic.
How do you get that scene with Murphy and Carlos? On repeat playthroughs, I always get the one with Nikolai.
@uncanny-hector-1906 It depends which choice you make at the restaurant or the office when Nemesis appears. If you choose "Go in the basement" or "Jump off the window" then you get the scene.
@@Tipper-n5i Thanks. No wonder I keep getting Nikolai because I always want a free Nemesis item drop.
So Murphy was a character in the OG?
I know Tyrell was previously a Supervisor/Monitor in RE3 OG, whereas he's a good guy in RE3R.
What's banana grab?
Where the zombie literally turns sharply around on the second grab they do after you dodge past them.
@idi-jq6cj
Why is it called banana grab?
@ I don’t know. It’s just something that I heard a RUclipsr say, which is something said by gamers that encounter this. It’s probably related to the shape the zombie makes when it turns around.
Is the title sarcastic or sincere?
Sincere
Sh2r or re3r?
