Just bought a savage 22lr rimfire. Any recommendations where I can go in southern Florida to hunt and time of year ?is my 22 powerful enough? I live in Miami btw.
You’d need a to make a perfect shot behind the heat to drop a hog with a 22. It can be done but would recommend something bigger for hog hunting. I’ve never hunted that far south so don’t personally know of any spots. Check the FWC wildlife management area locations. Best of luck!
Hey Mike, on RUclips I purposefully stay pretty vague as far as revealing what unit I'm hunting. I've killed hogs on 3 separate WMA units this year using the same tactics though.
Do you feel safe hunting public land in Florida? Trust other hunters to be responsible for what's behind what they are shooting? And tips on hunter safety? Thanks.
I am going out for the first time this year in FL but I can tell you from hunting about 20 years in PA that people are idiots everywhere. It's like driving, you need to be constantly vigilant of those around you. Even private land is risky, less but still. My advice is wear plenty of orange and be vigilant of hunters around you.
Every wildlife management area has unique regulations so you have to check the reg pamphlet for each unit. This one was during small game season where anyone could just walk in with a wildlife management permit and hunting license.
