Great video and I appreciate the info. Question: I was always told to get the meat on ice as soon as possible…that being said have you found that deboning the hog and then hightailing it to your vehicle is fine before cooling the meat? Especially with our Florida weather that is.
Absolutely. I was able to get it back to my vehicle and ice it down within 2 hours of it being killed which is fine this time of year when it isn’t blazing hot out. If I had dragged it out it would have taken much longer.
@@floridagrownandgathered8775 Got it…I’d head out to the woods this weekend but I’m under the weather. Will try again next week. Thanks again! BTW, I’m a beekeeper over in Pinellas and thought if you haven’t already done so maybe a few beekeeping videos would be nice too.
I plan on hunting this november. Plan on taking an extar ep9 for my first time ever hunting. I know what people say about 9mm but shot placement is key .
Son got his 1st Osceola Turkey last week beautiful birds got a nice little video of it on here and he got his 1st hog on the same Youth Hunt, now he is Hooked!! Any suggestions on places for hog. MWA's are a pain but looks like its the only thing.
Good information, much appreciated. I'm going hog hunting next week on a WMA down south that has been closed due to Ian, so I'm going in blind, never been there, never had the opportunity to scout it, never hog hunted before. Interested on why you chose buckshot as opposed to a slug. The WMA I'm hunting is shotgun/air rifle/archery only, so I planned on using slugs in my 20 gauge. In your opinion is that a disadvantage over buckshot? If so, why?
I’ve had good luck with slugs and hogs. I usually just use buckshot because I have a hard time finding slugs that shoot accurately out of my shotgun barrel.
Do they use the same bedding area or do they create a new one every midday? Just came from Dupuis, no sightings only deer and one turkey. First hog hunt for me.
Depends on you shotgun. I’d recommend patterning it like a turkey load to find out your range. I’m using a full turkey choke which keeps it tight. I try to keep it within 35 yards for hogs though.
Nice video. I couldn’t get on a good buck this season unfortunately but the hog were plenty👍🏻 how far was that deer from where you shot him do you think?
How is it hunting them with a shotgun? Most spots here is shotgun and nothing bigger than #2 non toxic so I am going to go further to an area where I can use a rifle
Gotta put your own time in. Best spots are told to be the worst. Worst are told to be the best…. And when you figure out your own area holes sloughs clumps lanes etc it’s better anyway.
A good shot was made on that hog and it bled out and died very quickly (within 2 minutes). There is no state law requiring an animal die at impact of shot when hunting. That is movie stuff and not reality. I have shot hogs point blank with handgun behind the ear and they don’t die immediately. This is the reality of harvesting your own meat. There is death involved and death is seldom pretty and peaceful.
nothing better than some mid day winter hog hunting , just went out to the local management area and downed one myself! Thanks for sharing
I’m in central FL as well, I’m trying to learn all I can before my first hunt… wish me luck 😂
Update?
I only hunt public land here in FL. Great video got some good tips about mid day hunting thanks! Just subscribed
Great tips. Thank you for sharing. If any of you live in the South Area check for Dupuis Wild Hog season in May. No quota, no size and no bag limit.
Honestly needed this! Thank you
Great video and hunt. I too hog hunt public land here in NE FL. Good pointers
Which management areas?
@@brandonlaragirl Guana and Osceola
Man you giving all the secrets away lol.
Your sense of smell has to be better than mine. How would you describe the smell of wild hogs?

Cls - What WMA did you go? I usually go to PSGHA southwest FL
I want to take my father in law hunting next week for hogs. What is the best WMA you can recommend to take him? Thank you in advance and great hunt.
Would also like to know. Lmk if you find anything!
Ever been charged stalking their bedding areas? Had one growling at me in the bushes walking out the other night lol
Ive heard mixed things about the taste of male hogs. Is there a flavor? If there is what can be done about it
Great! I’m planning on doing some hog hunting , here in Central Florida this Summer.
Nice vid...I'm in Eustis and want to get some hogs myself

They will usually use the same beds unless the area is disturbed by human scents.
@@floridagrownandgathered8775 Thank you very much. I’ll use the information you provided on this video to try getting them in Dupuis!!
I’ll be starting to hunt Goethe & Ocala WMA next season & beginning to scout now. What do you consider reasonable range using 00 buck?

He was just a couple hundred yards from where I shot him but he had traveled a long half circle to get to his bedding area.
Getting ready to go do this in Texas but with my 308.
Wait a minute, fl state forest?

It’s not bad here in Florida. Swamps are thick so it’s usually a close shot. I usually aim for head and try to drop them.
What part of Florida is this?? I’m in south west Florida and went hunting couldn’t find ANYTHING 😢 😂
Central Florida
What management area do you usually hunt ?
I purposely don’t disclose Which specific management areas I hunt.
Could you help give directions on how to find similar good public WMA?
@@ricardo97castro best way is to find one near you and start scouting and spending time in the woods.

Do you need a license to hunt hog in Florida
Not on private land. I think you only need WMA Permit to hunt them on public land but haven’t checked in a while.
You do guided hunts or need help? Having trouble finding places for me and 1 friend that aren’t charging 500$ per person.
Sorry, I don’t. I mostly just hunt public land.
You got an Instagram boss?
@jharris504
We need more sports shooters to go out and harvest wild pork!
Mullet fish???
Those are fish with bad haircuts right?
Great video. Word of advice, carry a sidearm and end that hog faster. FWC would love to find this footage.
