There are more iconic lines in this movie than there are stars in the sky. 😂 “Here’s some more money for your pocket” is such a brilliant and subtle example.
Every single character in this movie…. Has character. They are not there to take up space, but play a three-dimensional person Ieven if they have two lines. This movie is so re-watchable.
3:59 - When Pink and Wooderson walk out, watch Pink tap him and point and Wooderson's eyes look up. They totally saw the freshmen on the roof with the paint and they weren't going to do a damn thing to stop it. Everyone knew O'Bannion had this coming...except O'Bannion.
@@Rob2068 bro i was raised 60's 70's 80's and we had a dude who had a little pop and mom store believe me or not you could buy a joint for a dollar under the counter .
When I was a kid in the 80's I walked down over the hill to get cigarettes for my mom. Was nice cause she always gave me enough to get a couple candy bars, 2 packs of cigs, and still had change left over to keep. She gave me $2. This was when I was 12 - 16 (all 4 of those years, not just a general guessing what age). They didn't "card" people back then. For anything.
One of the coolest cashiers the world could ever ask for. If criminals can quit robbing and shoplifting and our stores would quit having so many self-checkouts, we can have more cashiers like him. LYAMI!
He probably knows Mitch is underaged. The way he looks at him, I see it that he sees himself years ago a little bit in him. Linklater write these characters so deeply, even if they had a couple lines. “Here’s some more money for your pocket.”
I just found out today that he returns with clean clothes to the moontower party. Ive watched this movie around 8 or 9 times in my life and i always thought his night was over after this because if you blink you will probably miss it but hes at the party too.
Yeah, for years I assumed the O'Bannion leaving in disgrace was his last scene in the movie. When I found out later he was at the party having a good time it kind of takes away from the satisfaction of this scene. O'Bannion should NOT have been participating so actively in the freshman hazing because it was his 2nd year of being a senior because he failed his first senior year. You get the feeling throughout the movie that most of the other seniors don't truly respect the guy for that reason...they just tolerate him. I think it works better if he had left for good after his humuliation with the paint -- and the fact that the other seniors did not prevent the freshman from getting revenge or support him afterwards - by supporting the notion that the paint finally clued him in on his true standing at school.
Saw this movie with some friends when it first came out on vhs. I remembered his character being a huge dick but had no idea who Affleck was. Saw it years later with some of the same friends and when Affleck first appeared we laughed our asses off!
Yeah, but at the cost of freedom. They ain't just gonna be able to walk around. At least Mitch has Pink and Melvin and all them for protection. Carl and Hersh and them other cats are dead. Lol
The decent ones respected him for not running and taking his licks like a man. Melvin and Dawson were both cool to him after that and of course Pink was cool to everybody.
Gotta say we had a friend who was older and bought a mountain if booze every Friday - the old girl in the boozer was aways like 'having another party...' I remember asking this guy like he was santa. Funny thing was it was easier when I was 16 to buy acid than booze - friends used to do it at school.... This is UK in bout 97
None of you Gen-Z kids can understand the freedom of smoking unfiltered cigarettes while seven months pregnant. Sorry, but you’re not ready to have this conversation. Case closed.
Ever wonder why people aging into their 50s and 60s today look so much better than people aging into their 50s and 60s then? A lot of it's because they didn't start smoking unfiltered cigarettes at 15 and a lot less of their mom's drank and smoke while pregnant than in previous generations. Clean living does have some benefits it turns out.
IN MY" HUMBLE" OPINION IT MAKES SENSE BEN AFFLECK DIDNT HAVE A GIRLFRIEND IN THIS MOVIE. HOWEVER I DONT PLAY AROUND IN LOVE IF I KNEW MATTHEW M CONAHEY DIDNT HAVE SHAVAUGN AS A GIRLFFIEND I WOULD OF DATED HIM IN A SECOND. NO SNUB BING HERE❤😂🎉
I think they were playing doubles. Melvin and Wooderson against the other two guys up against the wall. You can see all four of them are holding pool cues.
Love that he’s lecturing the mom on proper natal diet while she buys cigarettes and booze
70s man. the good ol days
See you tomorrow night!
@@Rob2068 I MISSED THAT PART LMAO 😭😭

You just don’t know how it is to be FREE, man.
Nice of Melvin to give away the entire 6 pack he just bought, and letting Mitch keep the change. He only kept 1 beer for himself.
Lol I saw that too, unlike Ben Afflecks characters, the Black dude ended up being cool l
Well as soon as he heard a keg party at the moon tower he got excited and gave em away cause plenty of booze in kegs
Thats how it should be you bring a 12 pack to the party to share man who ever is stingy with beer ends up having no friends later on in life
He made him buy it to see if the kid had the balls, he didn't really even want the beer
The good vibes of summer just beginning. This movie echos the best moments of youth like no other.

Love that Affleck almost slips through the paint thing on the floor but stays in character.
He actually rolls his ankle when he smashes his paddle on the ground but doesn't break character at all.

Oh that’s why he points. I kept wondering why he would be pointing at O Bannion
Because he was an asshole to them too. He was supposed to graduate already. So he probably bullied them when they were Sophomore's and Junior's.
All these years and I've never caught that little detail... That's funny AF!
That store clerk knew DAMN WELL that Mitch wasn't 18
