Very cool build. Never thought anyone would put a Predator engine in a full size rock crawler. Very creative how you added another one for the hydraulics.👍👍
I remember seeing a video of a predator 220 in a huge lifted pickup truck what was used for mudding. I may even remember that it was used as a tow rig to get trucks out of the mud, but my head might be playing tricks on me. Super impressive work!
Yep I seen the same thing I thought it was the coolest thing. Only thing is if you want to get to a trail quick you better have someone drag you there haha
@@Todd_G_FPV oh man that place is a good time I actually haven’t been there in about two years I hear the trails are a little rougher than the used to be all my utv buddies cry about it.

I converted a Polaris Ranger 6x6 to a Predator engine 4months ago. 5:1 reduction before the factory 2 speed trans..3.5mph in low and 10mph in high, and centrifugal clutch never gets warm....slow but can crawl like crazy!! Post more...love seeing this stuff. Any build videos?
Very nice. I didn’t make any build videos still don’t own a camera a buddy filmed it for me. My clutch doesn’t get hot either doesn’t slip enough to cook them. I’ve been running one clutch for two years on my s10 frame buggy it’s a 10 tooth clutch to a 48 tooth sprocket on s10 5 speed it does 28mph on 212 with carb and pipe.
It does pretty dang well I feel like my tires if anything are holding me back because of their age and lack of knobs. We will hopefully get it back out on some rock soon!
This is more proof why smart people are the best people. I found a guy that has a cam/lifter/turbo kit that converts those motors to 80hp Asian grenades. Just incase you want to go full R€£@Rd. Nice build either way.
Nice ride!! My favorite part is low center of gravity. Did you weigh the loaded buggy vs axles, tires and wheels? I bet you can get on crazy slopes before it flips.
@@CrawlDaddy89 If you have more videos let us see. I have been trying to work out what I need for my son a small engine and Sami axle build when I came across your build. It showed me a easier way to accomplish my goal. Thank you. If you have some time can you help me with a question. I am thinking a 10hp diesel engine to run front hydro and power the rig. Do you think it would be enough engine for both?
Great build. I have been thinking of putting a motorcycle engine into a lightweight car like a Mazda Miata. However, I have not found a good way to adapt a motorcycle engine to an automotive transmission. Any thoughts on how I could do this? I chose a Miata since the factory horsepower numbers are under 200hp, and a sportbike engine like a Hayabusa can put out similar power levels. ( Preferably, I would like to use a 200R4 or are automatic transmissions not a good idea) Thanks
@@rifleman7313 I just used center piece from clutch and welded 1” keyed shaft to it chucked it up in lathe to weld it. You’ve gotta use a manual transmission it takes too many rpm’s to turn automatic and would rob too much power. Miata would be fun with motorcycle engine for sure. Just getting it to one side would be the only problem to make room to hook up chain
Kool Rig ..ya might look into some mrt sticky utv tires ya can get them in 35 to 39"..i ran 35" zillas on my lightweight buggy and crazy how much more traction ya get..
Thanks man! Yeah those are good tires I just built this somewhat on a budget paid 150 for all 4 tires. I’m gonna start a bouncer build one of these days once I’m done with my house projects.
love the build, any reason why a 212 and not something bigger like the duromax 440? and if you want more power and torque out the thing, 24mm carb and giving it 6 degrees of timing will do it for cheap and its simple
That this is sweet. Wonder if a built predator motor wound change it any? I always wanted to try a shaft drive motorcycle engine to a Suzuki samurai transfer case and axles. Being a divorced transfer case. Should work shouldn't it?
Work looks to be as good as anyone could get it. Throw a bigger, more torquey engine in there, maybe a big undersquare thumper or harley vtwin, thing would be a beast.
I’m actually building a very similar buggy. What size Heim joints did you use for the 4 link. Since it’s so light I’m on the fence to go over kill or just enough to get the job done.
are you going to make a video of you going up rock hills like to see how it crawls rear cool build also did you build the hole frame or by one and refab it to how you did it.
question for you, with your set up, if you geared it towards max speed, what will be gear ratio ? cos i’m wondering how well a predator 670 paired with 35” tire will perform(not for rock climbing but just driving around for fun)
Really depends on transmission ratios but I would start with 10T to 60T then drop down from 60T to 48t or something I have a s10 chassis that has 212 with 10 to 48t set up and hits 30mph in 5th gear. Only other hurdle you’ll have is you gotta run torque converter set up on 670.
@@terrymason3093 better for on/off throttle and higher rpm and its what side by sides use its from a durability standpoint....centrifical clutches are built for more full throttle or no throttle there is no in between but with a torque converter you can hit the full rpm range without burning it up
