I have the same toilet and have always been annoyed at the difficulty loosening the flapper top. I didn’t know about the warm water trick. Thanks for the great tip.
I got a toilet for 20 bucks in Hawaii and had to replace around 20 bucks worth the parts and had a almost new outdoor toilet. Good info cheaper to repair then replace
What can you do if the “screw top” breaks off when you screw it back in? We can’t get the stopper off now and I’m afraid to try turning it anymore for fear it will break the plastic of the flapper
I have the same set up. American Standard with a Fluidmaster 400. I get barely any water if I twist off the top counterclockwise and turn water back on. So, I removed my water line hook up at the tank bottom, turned my water on and have very good pressure. So, I suppose somewhere, it's cloaked up. Should I just replace the whole Fluidmaster refill part ? Thank you, John
I've had a dripping noise/leak in my toilet and just discovered a crack in the removable green piece above the blue rubber flapper. The blue rubber flapper itself looked good, no bubbles. Could a crack in the green part be the cause of a drip/leak?
I've replaced 2 flush valves on my American Standard toilet but the toilet still runs leading me to something other than the valve is causing it to run. I can watch the water slowly lower, but can't figure out where it would be draining from. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the tip! That was exactly the problem on mine. 👍

Funny cause my toilet just started this today. So is this rubber the same standard size for all seats? Does size matter 🤔
What about the ones that look like But it has no opening at the top. It's solid in doesn't unscrew. Then what
