What To Expect During a Root Canal, Is It Right For You?

  • A small incision will be made near the top of the tooth. Once the infected pulp has been exposed, it will be carefully removed using special tools known as files. The canals in the tooth will be thoroughly cleaned. A topical antibiotic will be applied to the area following the pulp removal to ensure that the infection has been removed completely and to prevent reinfection. The tooth will be filled and sealed with gutta-percha, a paste and rubber-like material, after the canals have been cleaned and sanitized. The small hole at the top of the tooth will be sealed with a soft temporary substance, this sealant prevents saliva from damaging the canals. #rootcanaltreatment #animation #shorts #dentist #dental

@@Vibration-b3f I'm no expert on it, and can't remember every one, but it's more the science in the composition of certain foods. Processed grains like in box cereal, some types of rice, and bread (I think). They produce some gastric something that is bad for teeth.
Heavy amounts of some fruits like pineapple, or oranges and limes, heavy in acidic content are bad.
Of course processed sugars in candy and sweets, sodas, ect. Although some natural dark or mild chocolates don't seem as bad.
There's also foods that actually naturally repair or help teeth. Things rich in vitamin D like milk and I think some types of beans.
There's a lot more to it. That's why I recommend your own research because it's an entire area of study. Ultimately, enamel is one of the, if not the hardest/toughest substances humans have. You can still eat the things that are bad for teeth, you just have to brush after and that should nullify any damage to the enamel. (Except processed candy, soda, and to an extent most box cereals. Those things have too much of a concentrate of what destroys teeth.)
Buy the other clean foods you can eat, and not worry about enamel damage nearly as much. So that means no need of brushing.

The 1st one was successful lasted over 30 yrs before the tooth had to be extracted. The 2nd not as successful, 2 yrs later an infection occurred I got a script for antibiotics. Then 4 yrs later two more infections became a recurring issues every few yrs. I had the choice to have it redone, or extracted. After the last bout, I had the tooth extracted. I could not afford to have it redone. I ought to have done it much sooner like after the 4th bout.

Depend on what is left of the teeth.
Generally molar are big, and if the decay hit the root but didnt damage the teeth too much, or if the cleaning didnt break the teeth you can have a permanent filling that can last 5 to 15 years
I got one of those filling that lasted for 6 years before getting my crown. It could probably have lasted longer but better safe than sorry
I also got one tooth decay that needed a crown as soon as possible so it varies. Crown can last up to 20 years, you need to either make a new one after that or put what we call a dental implant : the leftover teeth is so damaged after 20 years that you need to "screw" the new crown to your jaw
(As for how I got two tooth decay : In France medecine university are totally free but you need to pass a nationnal contest/examination where the 5% best graded student get the place. Turns out one year of running exclusivly on Coke for a whole years absolutly ruined my teeth lol)

That's one more reason your dentist needs to put a crown over the treated tooth, if you see that tooth when you open your mouth. If it's in the back, no problem.

The removal of the pulp essentially kills the tooth. The enamel and dentin in the tooth will begin to become brittle and weak as a result, so you almost always will need a crown on it to keep it from falling apart. A crown also prevents you from seeing the disgusting gray color the tooth turns after the pulp is removed - something a filling won't.

There is one thing this Video doesn't make clear, and perhaps its just where I go (To the University Hospital (i.e Dentesty)), but they appy a Cofferdam around the Tooth, or more likely an adjacent tooth. By clamping that rubber mat in your mouth. If you think this looks like hell, its thin icing to those *#@$ clamps. I'd swear it was like those things were going to shatter what teeth I still had.

What they don't tell you. Is you're going to spend 3 thousand or better. On the root canal and the crown. Then in no time you're going to have to have it pulled anyway. Just pull it and be done with it. You will save thousands of dollars and be better off in the long run.
