Vrabel/Mcdaniels should’ve been the choice after they fired Belichick. Add in a GM (not Wolf). I wish they would’ve hired Mike Borgonzi as the GM, he’s the Chiefs assistant GM. They know how to draft, and he was quoted as saying he would love to be hired as the Pat’s GM. He’s also from Massachusetts.
Why do people think they can just get any coach they want? During the time when they were looking for one NO ONE WANTED THE JOB both GM and HC. Now all of a sudden you have people wanting it now how ironic.
Yea same roster the GOAT last year couldn’t even save it and you think new coaches will somehow make this team a Super Bowl contender I’m fucking laughing.
Vrabel and McDaniels has been my perfect bingo card scenario since day 1. It's an even better scenario now that the Pats have a good young QB. In that scenario, Eliot Wolf needs to do his job much better.
Mayo has no clue how to coach defense. He turned a top 5 defense into bottom 5. Obviously it was Steve Belichick doing the work last year and he is doing great at Washington
The best experience is being in the hot seat, if they think he will eventually be a great head coach than let him keep going. I think of my own personal experience in my life. I work in construction, I was put in a leadership position at a very young age. Thinking back at that time. It’s crazy to think tge responsibility I was given, I made lots of mistakes, I learned from those mistakes and now manage 100 plus million dollar jobs. So if he’s capable then stick with him, if not cut bait.
How long is this "eventually" to become a great HC? Personally, he looks like a yes-man to me and will never get there, but even if he did get there - what decade are we talking about and what happens to Drake Maye in between times?
@ i don’t know. All I’m saying is some people say he’s a really smart guy and can eventually become a great head coach. Parsells and Belechic first seasons with the pats were just as bad as this. So if he’s good then stick with him. Most of the problem is talent, there is a serious lack of talent on the team. Some of the loses have been coaching decisions for sure but I feel the bigger issue is talent. We blame Covington for the defense but yet we constantly praise Gonzo. So does he not get credit for having a shutdown corner? How about Maye? Kid is awesome. Is that because of coaching? So we pick and choose who to blame. Coaching can only go so far, you actually need players that can play and the patriots don’t have many.
I don't understand moving on from belechik to just use lessor versions of him . Our only options seem to be previous players of the patriots that learned and played for belichik 🤷♂️ the point . Misewell have kept bill
In a heart beat... it was actually kind of unfair to HIM that Mayo was given Head Coach... think about... a Coach with no NFL OC or DC experience, never mind Head Coach experience, taking over for the G.O.A.T.? It was never gonna happen. He may not be gone at the end of this year, but if the Patriots don't have some miraculous off-season where they find people to fill all these holes, he will be gone for next year for sure.
What a riot why don't you just admit you should have kept Bill. Vrabel is BB 2.0 and bringing back McDaniels is bringing back that complex offense that they were trying to get away from. Look wise up NE. It's time to Bring TB12 home if he'll come. Sell a small part of the team to him and get him involved in deciding the front office and GM. Brady is a winner he's a football genius and he knows what GM and coaches to bring in. The fans would be stoked knowing Brady was back home and that alone will sell seats. Brady is offensive minded enough defensive minded coaches.
You really want Maye to go from the West Coast offense to McDaniels? His offense was great when Brady was running it but it’s not an easy offense to pick up.
The Jets (The Panthers, the Raiders) also cycle through HCs like they are picking up vagrants at the bus stop Greg. A rookie HC is taking a D+ roster and trying to build a foundation. It takes time. Draft again, gather the weapons, make a splash in FA and then we can truly evaluate this staff
@Pyschedelicfunk every draft has about a 3 year window to determine if it was successful or not. We hit on the most important part of that draft. You cannot bet on everyone beyond the first round being a hit. Most never are. But if we look at guys like Nico Collins, and Cedric Tillman, dudes who did a whole lot of nothing as early draft picks and are now flashing hard, I think we can say that there is still time for Polk. Lineman have even longer timelines to reach success. There are a lot of former patriots who were considered busts on the offensive line, who are now impact starters on other teams. I think we have a generational development issue on this team . It started after the Gronkowski draft class and has plagued us until Bill left
Are you really serious. Mayo is lost. He can not game plan ....he can't do half-time adjustments... there is no discipline ...he rats is coaches out on tv. This guy is completely lost. Vrabel forgot more than mayo will ever know.
@ yea you are 💯right Mayo has failed to make many if any adjustments on defense or on offense. But if they get rid of him. I would like them to look outside of former Pats ties. Get some fresh blood and new ideas in here. My expectations this year were low and I just wanted to see progress and that hasn’t happened. So yea I can’t see how Mayo gets another chance. I’m just not sure what message you are sending to other potential head coaches that your heir apparent was chosen 5 years ago has a bad season with a bad roster and you can him after a year. Time will tell but if they do let Mayo go, I wld like them to look at some other coaches outside the Belicheck wheelhouse.
Pats kick Mayo to the curb. What makes anybody think Vrabel will want to walk into that situation? IDK if that's something he wants to be associated with. Anybody? Thoughts?
If the braintrust is more interested in defending a lost cause than getting a competent HC/OC combination in here, then they have become the Jets North. They have personal goals that don't seem to support a winning franchise any more. They remind me of Jerry Jones, all caught up in his vision of himself first, and doing what's best for the team second.
