They get good mileage anyway. Back when it was new, my LT got 16mpg in a 6,000lb truck. That's pretty dang good for a gasser. The only LS my family ever had was in a Corvette (of course) and it got 28mpg in that platform. It was possible to get 31mpg out of it, but I suspect that was a downhill run.

Time is a much more valuable resource than money. Some people use the latter to save it. Although, I agree that building your own dream car is definitely more rewarding.

Using the original Prius chassis for a rear wheel drive LS application is amazing, especially because it almost perfectly retains the original factory look, even down to the tires! Massive respect, especially as someone who is currently doing custom fabrication for a swap myself, this swap took expertise! Anyone shitting on this build has probably only ever done an engine swap in Forza.

He should have put it in the back and left it front wheel drive, but this is interesting as well. He would have had to change literally everything underneath, just to make it work right.

Unexpected? Yes. BUT... Having driven that generation Prius (as a company car), I can tell you that it's surprisingly quick from the factory. I think the reason we all think of it as having no balls is because the type of person who buys it drives like a nun in an attempt to get the B.S. fuel economy that you can't realistically achieve when driving like you would if you WEREN'T trying to hypermile.

LS engines are comparatively cheap. Obviously it took some work to replace the bottom of this car with a rwd chassis, so yes, it took some time.
