Does it have carrier aggregation? I tried to download the user manual from their website but the download link didn't work. Keep up the good content.
Jim it sounds like a great thing
@@julianrevuelta9865 it works very good
Is there any way to "repair" the imei on these for the best results with certain carriers?
@@SAStone Hi Sabrina, as of right now NO! but some are working on that. You might be better off with just the antennas to bring in signal better.
Thank you so much Jim for letting me know about this, I got mine a few days ago after you suggested this and has made such a difference going from 3 down to 27
Hi Lisa, well thank you for supporting the channel and I am glad it's working well for you, that's a pretty big jump for your download speeds.
I think this is just what I'm looking for on my RV, small and flat enough to lay down on roof. As always Jim another great video thanks!
I'm putting one on mine also, thanks for watching Bob
I will have to try that in December when my Satellite internet contract expires thank you
Thank you. You have been a lot of help.
Glad to help Kurt
thanks, man ! 👍
No problem!
Good info
Thank you for your earlier answer. It really helped me understand the fundamentals that this unit is for data. One more question if I may. Is there an Meid number for the Amplimax and if so, where is it? I might need one to start service.
It's listed on the box and on the modem where it plugs in area
That’s sounds like a great product … other good video!!
Thank you for watching William, I appreciate it!
Jim, does the Elsys have an IMEI number that could get your providers "tablet plan" canceled if the provider checks the IMEI device number? That the SIM card is in?
In other words if the provider checks the number and it's not a tablet or phone device they allow. Do you run risk getting the plan canceled with the Elsys.
Is there a way to change the IMEI number on the Elsys device like you've shown on other videos.
Well if you are trying to do something against their policy then yes they will have a problem with that but if you are straight up and need to use the antenna let them know that and they have never had a problem including the antennas IMEI
Any chance I would be able to use a visible sim in this the frequencies for visible are actually available on this unit likewise is it possible to use DC unlocker like you showed in one of your other videos on this also wondering if this would work with T-Mobile home internet or if I would have to use the DC unlocker program like I would with visible
I did test with Visible and worked ok not great but that could be because they have realigned my towers, I have not used or tried any modifications
Great concept, they just need to get the right modem in it. Or reconfigure it to add our own modem so we can magic and get those good bands. Amplimax, you got something good here but you gotta sharpen the pencil and it will take off.
I have talked with Elsys about this and they said they will research more about developer options :)
Trying to decide on the Elsys or get an external LPDA antenna for my Netgear LB1120...in the country about 4 miles from the tower, any suggestions?
As much as I like the Elsys this one may be your best bet, Check it out here amzn.to/3HHkZB8 it even comes with antenna adapter wires which is cool.
Hello and thank you for the information. I’m currently a Tmobile customer and do I need to add another plan for this as in requesting a SIM card to run this? If so, what’s your recommendation? Thank you
Hi Carlos, T-Mobile works fine with it but you may need to call their support and give them the IMEI number of the modem so they will open it up for you. Just explain you are having to use the antenna just to get the signal and the service. Many had to do this because of their security.
Does this work with using a regular phone sim from Visible sort of like your video on the mofi?
Visible is not allowing this because it is not under the same IMEI the sim was registered to so it will cap at 5
It would be great to be able to use it with Visible, and hook it up inside to my router so it could be used for other stuff along with my computer. Your thoughts?
It does work with visible actually it worked really good but I feel Visible will know the IMEI change relatively quickly and cap the speeds. I have talked with Elsys about this and they said they will research more about developer options :)
I just bought the Elsys with an AT&T tablet plan and using my cell signal booster I get a strong signal and the best internet out here in the woods yet! That is to say, 15 up and 2 down with a ping around 70, but it beats the >5 upload we were getting over DSL and 1000 ping with satellite internet. Couch- do you have any tips on how to configure settings to reduce ping and enhance using a VPN and video calls? Thanks!
I am glad you are getting a much better service now but as far as dialing it in as you want I would contact their support and detail it out for them and they will be the best bet to optimize your set up.
Okay I'll try that next, thanks and thanks for all your videos!
Could I use this in conjunction with the Long Ranger? Can they marry up? I just bought it, and have no clue what kind of modem to buy to connect it to, and then found your video.
Your wanting to use the LR antenna to the Elsys antenna modem correct? I have connected an external antenna to the elsys and it has the port to do so.
Hi Couch, do you know if this works with T-Mobile after the tower upgrade around 8/2021? Many modem routers stopped working afther this upgrade. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Hey Joseph, as of today where I am it works fine and have not heard any problems with others yet.
Is there a indoor router that you recommend with this unit? I’m assuming it needs one so cameras, phones can pick up the signal?
Hi Joe, most any router will work fine such as the Mofi4500 but one that is on sale right now that I really like and is proving to be a very good router check out TP at amzn.to/2X1YVQ1
@couch potato cafe Do you know if it has carrier aggregation? Thanks
From what they told me Yes but I didn't see it in admin. You might give their support a shout to be sure
Hey coach potato HUGE fan but I have a question when u use the 4g lte modem when u use the sim does it use your hotspot or mobile data
Hey thank you, No it did not after calling the carrier telling them what I needed to do using an exterior antenna then they had no problem opening it up. AT&T data plan was plug and play
@@CouchPotatoCafe SO it uses mobile data?
good day i will like to know ,if i am getting signal but i am not seeing where the cell tower is, can it work or i will have to get the tower direction?
You should get the tower direction. You might get Network Cell Info Lite app from the play store, it has a nice map function
Mr Couch, what mobile data provider are you using with your Elysys. From what I read in the comments it looks like you're using T-Mobile is that correct?
Hi Michael, I use an AT&T right now in it.
We have the weboost home but doesnt seem to work very well. any ideas? oh and btw, we dont have internet OTHER than phone internet.
I was not impressed with the weboost when I tried it for internet data but did do well with the cell signal. How is your signal now at least one bar and which service works best there?
Can you change the TTL on this modem?
No but I am told it already does it for you
Would this work with visible?
Hi Austin, I did try it with Visible and yes it worked very well but it will only be a matter of time for them to find out it's not on a phone. I am not sure yet if the Amplimax IMEI can be modified yet.
I’m having some trouble with set up. I have a Netgear router. As of now i can access the modem via my computer, but i am not getting an internet connection. I think I’m in over my head.
What service are you using? As long as everything your doing is legit you may need to call your provider and give them the IMEI number of the Elsys and state it's a exterior modem antenna used to get their signal and they should open service to that device
@@CouchPotatoCafe Verizon. Did that. It actually worked for about 15 seconds and now i can’t get it to connect with my iMac using an Ethernet cable. Perhaps i just need a new device? I’ve contacted Elsys.
so you take your simcard and place it in the Amplimax. That leaves you with no sim for the phone. How does that work?
Hi Kurt, you would need to get a dedicated sim for it preferably a data only plan
@@CouchPotatoCafe Thank you very much.
Will this take a t mobile sim card and work
Yes sir!
I wonder if this works better than a parabolic antenna
For cost and ease of setup Yes for areas that are extreme rural the Parabolic may work better but must be pin point setup.
So this needs a computer to work?
No, not at all I used the computer to do fine adjustments to get the best signal available but if you watched it you would insert the indoor short cat cable to a router wan port for whole house wifi
I have had mine for a week now and still haven't gotten it to work. I put in a Verizon Sim card that I was using in a Jetpack. I've been going back and forth with them and this was the last response I received.
""Looking at your picture I conclude your configuration is correct. Your Amplimax is registered on the Verizon network, but they didn’t give you an internet connection.
If your plan is working correctly , I’m afraid there is nothing else to be done. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee Amplimax works with Verizon. Would you consider using other carrier?""
Damn Henry, sorry to hear it and have you contacted Verizon because the IMEI has changed from the Jetpack which Verizon and T-Mobile will limit use until you call and explain the use of the antenna modem
@@CouchPotatoCafe I will do that thanks! That's got to be what it is
@@hveal81 please give an update of your experience..much appreciation
@@raphaelness1239 still couldn't get it to work with Verizon after buying a new sim card. Verizon said it wasn't a compatible device. Tried a new AT&T sim and they couldn't get it to recognize the IMEI of the Elsys. 🤷🏾♂️🤯
I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS GUY RECOMMENDS THIS JUNK , REAL JUNK
Well because I tried it and it worked for me, I do reviews. Sorry you had a bad experience with Amplimax many others seem to have had no issues.
Maybe if you explained why it is Real Junk so others here can be helped with your story. Thanks for watching!
