  • Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to SOUTHEND AVIATION.
My latest video recording showcases a Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B which resides at Kemble Cotswold Airport. The Gulf War icon, XX894, performs an anti-deterioration run as well as a wing fold demonstration. Later in the event, as the night falls, she would then perform a series of wing folds to allow photographers to capture some long exposures.
This event was held by Threshold.Aero and The Buccaneer Aviation Group who kindly welcomed aviation photographers and enthusiast to spend the evening with them.

I have loved the Buccaneer ever since it came into service. The start procedure, the whine of the engines, the shape of the aircraft, the fact both the RN and the RAF had them in service. Straight out of an episode of the Thunderbirds with Scott and Virgil at the controls. 👍🇬🇧

two different connections for external air? That's... odd

I found that odd as well. I didn't know it was smaller either.

I assume it's just because the connections are directly fitted to the engines themselves?

Slowly trying to get back into recordings. Movements from our local are still minuscule, with any luck the resident 727s will stick around.

One more question how do you get into the long stay car park where the aircraft taxi past you on the way to runway 23?
    Thanks you reply :)

You walk towards the ATC tower and you'll see it. If you're travelling by car I would suggest parking in the retail park for 4 hours max stay.

What lens do you use for planespotting at Southend so i can see the plane at the end of the runway a lot better :)

For my photography I'm using a Sigma 150-600mm, for video I will typically opt for the 18-105mm due its light wight and power zoom functionality.
