As an impactful veteran of Silicon Valley (which I left in 1995), Hollywood (2004) and Wall Street (2011), I would absolutely recommend guys not super-smart (thus layoff-proof like me) to become electricians, plumbers, welders. You will never hurt for work and any apprehensions will drop when you get that first big check or land a municipal contract. It's also easier to explain and more relatable than what I did. I'm gonna lie and tell people I'm a retired plumber. More prestigious.
If they do that, will the market for those trades become oversaturated? Will hourly wages go down due to competition?

Business isn’t a charity but ask the workers how much charity they’ve given the company in their time, commitment, and ideas? Companies seem to be more interested in the take than the give. Of course companies need to make money but when you have as much as apple does, it boggles the mind.
The saddest part is that their CEO makes more money than those 600 people combined per year.

The tech companies have been doing that since around 2000. However, those people are not cheap anymore. That is why tech companies have been laying off more than 300,000 of those people. INS had issued about 400,000 H1A visa for those so called equivalent education people. heheheh.....

There are a lot more companies than just Apple laying off people. Houses are foreclosing higher again, car repos are up to an all time high. Everything is getting worse.

Assmuning the average salary of those 600 employees is 200000/ year. This equates to 120 million per year not including benefits.

The most valuable company in the world, and it's laying people off. I started my own business in 2000, since then I have employed hundreds and paid out millions in wages. I cannot be laid off or fired.
That horrible. Assuming the "hundreds" you employed was only 200, that's an average of staying with your company approximately 4-6 weeks assuming everyone worked 24/7 and you only had a single employee at the time.

Compared to other tech companies they are not overpaid but they are still paid more than other industries. I just read an article in the Wall Street Journal saying that professional wages have been beaten so low in the UK US companies are starting to hire there. Its crazy. A software engineer here would demand $250K a year will do it for $66K in london. No language barrier or difficult accents. Only 5 hour time difference from east coast. What is not to like?

This will deplete California’s unemployment fund along with fast food worker claims, the issue is that the state will borrow from the feds to fortify the account, then forcing employers to pay the loan back, it happen years and it will happen again.
Why would California need to borrow funds? It has a gigantic economy… richer than dozens of other states combined.
@@Me97202 I was a employers during the last unemployment fund fed loan, California fail to repay the loan and we were forced to make a monthly payment for 18 months, although we paid into the fund based on payroll that didn’t matter, the fund was depleted because unemployment benefits were handed out like candy on Halloween. You’re right why is the strongest economy broke.
