Wait….wait a minute. Hughes’ daugther Elicia is only 3. Kids start forming long term memories between 3-4 years old. (What I mean is: This is the earliest adults have memories from) meaning Elicia likely won’t be able to remember her farther very well as she gets older….damn…that’s gonna make my cry.
This is among her first serious memories, she will remember her fathers death, she will remember ed and al, and 100% winry still keeps in contact with the family
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TELL ME THAT?????
Oh you bet anyone who listened to Hughes go on and on about his wife and daughter will make sure she knows plenty about him 🥹😭
Oh, nice. Her first “real” memory is of severe trauma and immense amounts of unbearable sadness and grief. Very cool.
If you’ll excuse me, I will now go and wail into a pillow uncontrollably for a few minutes and then I remove myself from this world.
I choose to believe that when she grows up she keeps a picture of Hughes with her and at every opportunity pulls it out to show off her dad, the amazing war hero she grew up hearing stories about.
Its so funny seeing Danny's first gag be talking about Bradley's name only for him to become one of his favorites lol
Not to mention he got the name right on a gag. For the longest time I thought Bradley's title was "Fuhrer-King".
So true!
@@grandpagohan1Same
Brotherhoods pacing in the beginning is written that way because they expect you to have already seen FMA. So the first quarter-ish of FMAB is like a cliff-notes version of half of FMA.
It was annoying tbh. I hadn't (and still haven't) watched FMA so the first 13 or so episodes of FMAB felt rushed, but I couldn't even tell why.
@@footlong7980 speak for yourself, I felt like I was getting through the necessary worldbuilding to get to the good shit, and quite enjoyed it.
The consensus I've seen is the 06 anime has a stronger beginning, but Brotherhood has the better ending and overall cohesion
Have I watched the entire series week by week? Dropping everything each time? Yes. I have. Am I going to drop everything to support this video and rewatch all the things I've already seen? Yes. Yes I am.
I can't afford Patreon, but I can support this way!
Real😂
Bro only watching every video only once…
DID YOU KNOW! that at the beginning of fmab, the alchemist they go after, the freezer is trying to make the transmutation circle to save the country, that they use to save the country at the end of the show? The only difference was he was alone 😔
Makes the rewatch even better, I've seen the full series multiple times and I'm still finding new small hints to the truth early on
FOR A MOMENT I THOUGHT I MISSED THE ENDING REACTION DHJD-
"COMPLETE ... (part 1)" gives me AOT the final season part 2 the special episode part 2 vibes pfft
Omg I was absolutely OBSESSED with your tpn stuff a few years back. Still am a little lol
@@freshcupofangst OH HELLO!! I'm honored to be recognized (after such a long time too!!), thank you so much ;w;
FMA BH is closer to the Manga and the OG FMA was like "OMG WE NEED TO MAKE AN ANIME ON THIS NOW! LETS DO IT"
Actually, they were set on doing their own take from the start. It's not the case of "We run out of manga!" We have to came up with something STAT!"
You know what is worst about the Nina’s ark …is that at that moment Scar only had the deconstruction side of his arm sigil while he later finds his brother’s reconstruction sigil …so technically…theoretically if he had both transmutation cercles on his arms he may have had been able to at least try to reverse Ninalexander’s transmutation …tho it may not have worked either way..so
It is heavily implied, if not directly stated, by Ed, Scar, and Tucker himself, that there is no way to unfuse them.
Reconstruction and deconstruction tattoos are some new improved alchemy. Scar's brother just separated it into specific functions. This would have the same (or worse) effect as Ed trying it.
There is an extra Barry the Chopper Scene in the first anime and that was also done very well. This is before they meet him at the laboratory. Ed learnt about fear and malice of humans.
I never liked that scene because it felt way too OOC. Yes, it was well made and did a spectacular job... but I don't think it fit in line with Ed as a character, or the tone of the series. That's my stance on the original anime in general; they did a great job, but the result wasn't in line in theme, characters, and tone with the manga. Which is why I prefer Brotherhood over the original, and the manga over Brotherhood. But hey, to each their own!
I always find that scene weird because its much harder to buy Barry as a gag character when we see what he's done first hand like that
I'm not gonna lie, his voice still gives me chills and shivers
@@danhasong7199 These scenes made a great impression on me, because Edward, who shouldn't have any problems, suddenly stood almost defenseless in front of someone who was going to kill him. And if I remember correctly, "for fun", not to survive or anything important. Ed's terror that he would die in such circumstances was done brilliantly for me.
I don't like comparing anime to manga. Especially by people who first read the manga and then watched the anime, already knowing exactly everyone's character and pointing out what's different. When you don't know the material, you watch it, get to know the characters on an ongoing basis and you can judge for yourself whether the character's reaction is authentic, and not "if it is OOC".
Btw. Edward was probably 15 years old. He was a kid. And he was alone, in great danger. Let's not forget this.
"I didn't know Edd was such a little emo" have you seen his character design?
Gave me a heart attack I thought he dropped the show 😂
sameee, I was like wait what?!? did I miss something???
Same I was upset af😂
The worst part is that Armstrong isn't even 6ft 9in, it said he's 6.9ft, which is actually a little under 6ft 11in
Okay, I'm going to sound really stupid but what is the difference between 6ft 9in and 6.9ft? I genuinely thought that was the same.
@@vivekagupta One feet is 12 inches, so .9 feet is 10,8 inches. That kind of stuff is why most of the world uses metric system
I still think its funny when danny says 'im admittedly very lost' and im here like WAHT DO YOU MEAN?! forgetting ive seen this show about A BAJILLION times 😂
Same 😂
It’s always so much fun to see people go from start to end. It really does feel like you’re experiencing it all again in a way.
The big lampshade Problem with Brotherhood is that the first 25 Episodes of the 03 version are highly detailed quality scenes and then for the 09 redo they speedrun through all of it to get to the parts of the manga we havent seen animated. which causes the 09 version to be super weak in the beginning by comparison to the 03 version. i feel the ideal viewing experience is definitely to splice scenes from the 03 into 09. but i see why everyone would just say Do 09. because the pacing of the beginning is only a problem if you have 03 to compare to.
*Maes Hughes gets on screen*
me: *SOBBING*
also I'd like to point out at 1:10:32 when he mentions the brothers talking about using a philosophers stone, he's literally just foreshadowing Al's battle with Selim/Pride.
You wanna great hype anime. Check out Mob Psycho 100. That first season is so rad, and the into goes so hard.
I was not ready for Maes to freaking die I was literally begging for him to live and then we see Envy turn into his wife. Me and Danny literally said “Oh fuck off!” In unison too 😭
Danny my love! Can we please have a part 2 for this? I’ve watched this video at least 30 times 🙏
I can't believe that it took me the entire video to realize that I watched Fullmetal Alchemist and not Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (it's been a few months since I watched it so I thought I watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood). This explains why there were moments where I was like 'Why didn't this happen?' or 'I don't remember it happening like this.'
It's good though! Brotherhood is interesting in the sense that it kind of expects you to have watched the 2003 version. Brotherhood speedruns the early stuff.
@@Escuriio True but I started with Brotherhood and aside from Yoki appearing out of nowhere I understood the series completely.
Future information. To denote that you're left handed. The term "South Paw" works.
*The utter anger Danny felt when Edward called Al too big will never not be funny... CUZ I FELT THE SAME!* 😤
*1:12:38*
I forever will say I think people should watch the original run first, then Brotherhood. The first run just has way darker elements, the Nina thing being the biggest one. You spend so much more time with her there and the fact that she's in pain just, hits so much harder.
This is such a coincidence i just finished watching all your full metal reactions, plus i bought your patreon. Hope you have a good evening, danny!
Where do you watch them?
@jonathansosa8013 not the last 8 episodes I meant the ones up to date
This IS a cool idea cant wait to see you React to The rest of the show
He's already react to way more then this, he just does this for his series reacts, check out his channel you'll see almost the entire series
@@grounden8149 oh i Have seen all of them i just cant wait to see him React to The rest of it
Including the 2003
Ahhh hype. The mega compilations are always some of my favourite fantastic work all around to you and your editor. Just amazing.
Hope Iruma gets the same treatment some day (Day XXX of suggesting iruma until he watches it)
I love the decent from disliking Bradley’s name to loving Bradley and calling him the best man ever later in the series
I’ve been following along with every episode, but I’m still here for the FULL EXPERIENCE 💯😅
Same lol I was like wtf is that but guess it's the perfect way to end the year 🎉😂
Same lol I was like wtf is that but guess it's the perfect way to end the year 🎉😂
1:27:35 i mean the author, Hiromu Arakawa, was born and raised on a dairy farm and does use a cow as her avatar. The series is quite literally sponsored by big milk 💀
Thank god! This is so much easier than the playlist!
I really hope you watch Great Pretender when you're free
It's hype as hell
A show about con artists with a lot of twists
The main characters have a bit of tension too
I genuinely think you'd love it ❤
23:12 I’ve been watched this series from the beginning and “burnt sea monkey” is my favourite joke from this entire series 😂😂😂😂
You should watch FMA original. after 15-16 episodes the show is completetly different. The endings are completetly different. Theyre both good in their own right.
I beleive brotherhood is more well known because it follows the manga and tie things up neatly in the end.
Honestly I'd love to see Danny react to FMA 2003 after this so he can see how crazy the plot deviates. Seriously I love both 2003 and Brotherhood equally for different reasons, so I'd love to see what he thinks of all the anime-only content in 2003
Only the beginning of 03 is good, the rest in my opinion is soooo bad :( it's just bad I don't think he will enjoy all that nonsense
I agree he should watch it. I think the direction it goes eventually is interesting. If a little weird at times. But it is BOLD and I love the darker tone of the series. Both series are good, but for differnet reasons.
I agree somewhat, but I prefer the ending of the original even though it isn’t in the manga, I felt that our actual history parolling their universe separated by the god of transmutation
Ngl this is gonna save me from rewatching the playlist every week
Edward’s height is stunted because he was providing a large chunk of his nutrients towards Alphonse’s body.
Really?
oh I see it's a 'complete experience' video today, I guess link click s1 finale is dropping the coming week then
Not gonna lie, Josh’s editing is top tier
Omg 1:49:57- 1:50:15 reminded me of Fruits Basket, and also please watch the show it’s SO good
Oh my gosh yes!! I love fruits basket, its one of my comfort animes.
My idea of the seven sins aspect is
Shou tucker is pride
Scar is wrath
Ed is greed
The teacher is envy
Ed and al's dad is sloth
And then lust and gluttony is difficult to pinpoint
"OH SHIT HE TURNED HER INTO A RORSCHACH TEST"
I can't stop laughing
I'm a vtuber who is basically a chimera that is 1 part girl and 1 part dog (also 1 part bunny and 1 part dragonfly) who jokes about Nina being fursona goals and even I was caught off guard by how fucked that joke was (but still hilarious as fuck)
Side note: The 03 anime only had the first 6 volumes of the manga to work with so they had to come up with their own ending
there's some interesting ideas and themes in the anime so I say it is worth a watch
I find their take on the 7 homunculi very intriguing as they pose a unique obstacle to specific characters
please make a series reacting to it
I think a great anime for you to watch is Aoharu x Machinegun. It's about a girl who looks like a boy, and these airsoft guys need a third member but they don't allow girls on their team anymore because of something that happened in the past. But the main character really loves airsoft so she pretends to be a boy so that she can join the team. Then they encounter a rival team that takes the game too far and uses it to torture the main characters. Btw, airsoft is just bee bee gun sports. ANYWAY, it's only 12 episodes and I think your reaction to it will be hilarious
OMG I LOVE THIS ONE 😮 the manga is actually amazing too it only gets better 😫
@dayanabenjume4801 thank god cause no streaming service has it, off to the manga
I case it wasn't said in earlier videos. The first 25 eps of FMA are canon and give more in-depth tellings of the first 12 eps of FMA:B
"Various trace elements" was just to get out of listing every single element we have tiny micrograms in, he has all of them appropriately listed and included. XD
Fun fact but Ed was so short because he and Al were sharing life force all that time. His body could never get enough nutrition for both and still be able to grow
20:27 - Imagine THAT episode being the ONE episode you've EVER seen of FMA:B. I knew it was coming before I started, but I had never SEEN it. Goddamn, Danny's been playing life on Hard Mode fr fr.
22:35 - Also... in regard to Danny's commentary on early 2000s anime haircuts, did he literally forget Sakura's name when the characteristics he was describing were her most iconic features throughout the OG Naruto???
43:00 - So, Danny probably already knows this at this point, but the first several episodes of Brotherhood assume that you've already watched the OG and are more of a refresher for how much it hurt than a complete retread.
Ive been marathoning your videos over the last week or so and I love them. Im also getting a lot of nostalgia rewatching series that i saw years ago. Id love to see you react to D.Gray-man, i dont rememeber a lot about it, just that i loved it.
Note: Pretty sure Danny's aware that he'd missed a few important post-credits clips.
I honestly like the beginning of full metal alchemist, but I love the end of Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood
iirc about the quality of winry's automail - Ed is EXTREMELY rough on his and much automail wouldn't stand up even as well as Winry's does, but also I believe her designs are among the best for things like dexterity and fine motor control. Which I don't know if they ever bother really EXPLAINING in the anime but there you go.
I 100% missed the "Part 1" section of the title and absolutely thought you just full sended the rest of the series and just posted it in this instead of individual episodes
My friend never seen your videos before I show him this long FMA video while we're eating and he instantly loves you
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! 💕💕💕
I've just discovered this channel and I'm having such a fun time watching your reactions
Odd title for the Beastars season 2 COMPLETE experience... oh wait.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS.
i think there's actually a reason that the "15 other trace chemicals" bit is there when ed spouts off the compositional makeup of a human, seeing as some people WOULD try and create an actual person, and i don't think that the team behind fmab wanted to be responsible for peoples decisions about making meat puppets. or something along those lines, i would think?
danny make a playlist of all your "the complete experience" vids so i have something to listen to at work pls
Danny please watch grandmaster of demonic cultivation!! It's really good! Fighting and Zombies and powers and more!! I wanna see you react to it!!
I'll be honest, I was so worried I missed the final episodes' reactions, then saw "(Part 1)" and was like "okay, but still gonna watch this while I play Halo: Infinite."
I NEED Danny to react to Castlevania 😭😭😭
Castlevania
Mob psycho
Naturally, you drop this right after I finished watching all the episodes you posted9
I think back in the original, it was a story that was meant to be more thought provoking.
The type of show that makes you question philosophical ideas, such as "when is it good to be enough?", or "when is it not enough?", as well as "how far can a person go, in order to know what is the difference between right and wrong?", while touching on various moral concepts culture has raised humanity to be. I was starting high school when FMA came out, and used to recognize fans of the show due to their accessories they wore. It's what made me finish FMA, and it didn't disappoint me. Neither did the "Conquer of Shamballa" movie after (but, that's only because I was intrigued by the fact that FMA and "our world" are in completely different universes)!
Although, I have never seen FMAB, I'm glad to be able to watch this insight into it. I know FMAB involves a lot more story line from the original manga that many non-manga readers will view, and I'm grateful for that.
One thing here in the USA that I think hasn't been as accepting of Japanese culture is the reading of manga. Those books are thick and heavy! They're the same as "graphic novels" here (albeit smaller and compact), and are distributed as a complete storyline. It's quite different then a "graphic novel" that is sold here.
As far as what I do know about the story, I still do feel the philosophical/moral standard is applied when manga goes from "books" to "tv screen". What I notice has changed over time is the way in which the graphics are presented. Thankfully, most audiences no matter where, can watch the stories they see on a screen... even if it is missing some details. FMAB fills in, what many of us non-manga readers have been looking for.
All my rant boils down to is basically.... if you like the show, go buy the soft copy of the actual manga, don't go through an online site to click through the story. You'll enjoy it much more, and you'll be able to feel physical pages of a story in your hand! You can read just a chapter, or a the whole book if you want, and then you'll be ready for the next storyline!
Hold up- my gateway anime/favourite anime of all creation being reacted to by one of the funniest creators on this platform?
Someone plz wake me up this is too good 😭💖✨
I have only seen Brotherhood and not the original, and the Nina episode definitely stood out to me in an odd way. It felt like it should’ve played out over 2-3 episodes or at least be mentioned a couple times afterward. It felt like it was shown for no real reason, and was incredibly dark and jarring to be so early in the series without really serving a narrative/character purpose for Ed or Al?
I can't wait to binge this today! i have love your reaction journal when you started it so fun watching and your jokes are so funny.! Especially the resent one with Armstrong and sig curtis bromance. Lol I do hope you watch the original series and do a comparison on what you like and didn't like. I know brotherhood is the favorite in the fandom and but fma was so good no one talks about it enough or the the movie for the series Conqueror of Shamballa was amazing if you don't watch fma series consider the movie you be slightly confused on small stuff but you over all enjoy the time I promise!
i cant with the cannibal blob he just looks so silly
"Ed this better not another piece of my fcking floor" had me dying
1:35 just started this and I will say … this joke did not age well 😂😂😂 Führer Bradley is badass
8:05
it's for BREATHING
this is my 140th day begging danny to watch houseki no kuni
52:36 Oh I can't wait to see his reaction to Scar's backstory :D But anyway the clapping hands thing is that Ed, due to seeing god essentially, can make HIMSELF into a transmutation circle. That's why he doesn't need to draw one or have one pre-drawn (like on Mustang's gloves)
59:17 no, so the philosopher's stone is a theoretical alchemical creation in irl alchemy (not that it works but historically). It was something you could make, in theory, not one individual stone. it's like... "THE philosopher's stone" is the concept/idea/theory. "A philosopher's stone" would be the actual output. IDK why they use "the" more often than they really should in this anime, but that's what's going on with it.
I want to see him watch the original now
Damn this is the longest recap episode I've ever seen
29:48 It was a knock off, it only works for a short period of time
i kinda agree with you that the original anime had Edward more connected with his failure to help the chimera. there is some other moments from the original series that could be seen later, like them investigating barry, saving a mining town.
The nina arc also lasted 2-3 episodes in the original it was a while of them having fun with nina and learning their backstory
At 2:01:20, "Which I guess makes sense why the villains are the 7 Deadly Sins"
2003 Anime leans much more heavily into this, where the Homunculi are directly created by the failed transmutation
Danny you should watch Lust backstory in the OG fullmetal
The emotional gut-punches hit way harder in the original, but the plot kinda goes off rails later. Brotherhood is a better complete package, but the series wouldn't have the place in my heart without the original's super dark and unrelenting emotional punches
The original is so much more character Focused and better until the end in my opinion
I've been watching this reaction series almost since day one. When he finished FMAB I ***need*** Danny to watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist.
SPOILERS for FMA (2003)
It rips my heart out and the Nina Arc is so much worse when you have the context of the episode immediately befire it
Day 9 of asking Danny to react to Mo Dao Zu Shi! The story it’s based off of was written by the same person who wrote Heaven’s Official Blessing!
For anyone who somehow doesn't know any better by now: the reason that the Shou Tucker arc, and most of the early show tbh, is better in the original than in Brotherhood is because the original was made before the Manga was finished and Brotherhood was made after. So the original, iirc, pretty accurately adapted all of the manga that was available at the time including the Shou Tucker arc and Brotherhood knew it wasn't gonna do better so rather than shot for shot remaking the first couple arcs of the original they just got them out of the way real fast and got to adapting the parts of the manga the original didn't.
Lmao, I think he's changed his mind on Fuhrer KING Bradley recently
Danny you should watch Fruits Basket (dub) when you start a new show
Oh my god Alphonse’s voice is also why I didn’t watch Brotherhood for so long! But mine was because I had watched the 2003 version first and the dub is done by a different voice actor
I have to say your voice over dubs are freaking hilarious dude!
I wish I could like this video every time you make me laugh 😅
1:13:17 Disappointed because that man wasn't in this show as a human, (I saw the original version but not this one) it was a cool detail
So fun fact, brotherhood and the manga are a 1 for 1 . Fma was out before the manga finished, so in order to finish the anime they got permission to do their own story. The 2003 legit has like 2 or 3 filler arcs , yoki mining village , the other elric brothers, and a completely different story after the best father dies 😭. After that they legit change up everything, the reasons why homonculus exist, leave out ling and mina characters amd story completely , character connections, hell, in thev2003 envy ed and Al are all technically sibling's cause of who the main bad guy is at the end. 03 isnt bad, but its a darker side to fma. Me and friend have a head canon that theyre alternate universes , a good and bad end if you will.
I need to see you react to the rest of it! I NEED YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE
Brotherhood is more accurate to the manga plot wise but the og definitely has some interesting and more in depth scenes. After watching brotherhood I watched the other one too and it’s also very cool however due to the lack of cemented plot it can get a bit confusing if you haven’t watched brotherhood prior
I wish I could watch FMAB for the 1st time again. It's my favorite all-time anime.
I love how no one ever brings up the fact the feirrier is shaking put of anger
The way I look at scar and why what he was doing is so scary is that
Firstly he is transmuting multiple multiple different elements with no preparation or visible circles every other alchemist we see specializes in specific alchemist reactions and have circles specifically made for that purpose
Second we have seen multiple people suffering from alchemist backlash we don’t really get a explanation of how it works but we can assume that in general if you make a mistake in alchemy bad things happen so scar finding a point in the alchemist process where you can stope and not get mutilated and that he can reliable hit that point in a combat situation is very scary even when we see Edd pull this off he is doing it on a suit off armor made off steal after he has had plenty of time to run some calculations on it
I’m glad I decided to click this, this guy’s hilarious!
I literally only started FMAB because I saw that Danny was watching it and I wanted to be able to watch even more of his content 😭
Does anyone else want Danny to react to the 03 series, because I do! It's a completely different anime with a ending I did not expect when I watched it!
