If your olds 12 bolt has 30 spline axles, its a 8.5, usually with low gears like 3.91+. Very good rear end.

My skylark came from factory with the 12 bolt Chevrolet, all skylarks made in Canada had 12 bolts

You are mostly correct...I got an Olds f-85 12/10 bolt rear. I was aware of the difference before I bought it....the one advantage it has is.....bold in axle bearings retainers....no c clip....If a 10 bolt will do the job, for most street cars it will, you are good. No c-clips.

I think you might wanna double check that 8.2 BOP, i just dug into my rearend on my 67 Catalina convertible i originally thought it was a typical 10 bolt BOP but it has a 12 bolt carrier and 30 spline axles.. Ive been trying to research and found out these came in only full size bop big block cars from 65 - 69 then they downgraded to a 28 spline but still used a 12 bolt carrier. The bad part about these though is almost all of these rearend's are geared super tall and its supposedly hard to find parts

Exactly, I got a 65 big block oldsmobile 88 with a 2.73 12 bolt ring gear... I got a better chance swimming to the moon than finding gears for this thing LMFAO

Chevrolet 12 the axle tubes taper off smaller at the end. BOP stays same. Also a bop is totally different internal and not a true 12 bolt
