I like how the only point where we see DJSS get introspective and look past his own ego for a moment is when his head's turned into a black hole, pulling everything inwards - including, perhaps, his own thoughts? That there's what we like to call thematic storytelling.
I like to interprete the black hole discourse as him admitting that not matter how much he reject to be conventinal and try to be unique and fresh(how the black holes actually piss off the conventional theory) after time passes, no matter what he try, he will be forgotten(represented how the black holes discompose only in a slow way).
I love how his voice sounds almost robotic and alien and the lyrics fit him and his goals. Yeah, he’s egocentric, but he wants to be known across the universe due to how small earth is and he has the skills to do it. He wants to make his Mark, something that’s very human and something many want to do, he’s more egocentric about it than others. Also, nice adding Mayday and Zuke’s commentary to the song, as if they’re fighting actually during a concert.
What’s really cool is the fact that he starts off with complicated uncaring words and later it starts getting more feelsy and genuine about what he feels, kinda like a professor trying to explain things to his students (much like his old job before). Or I could be looking too deeply things, either way the song sounds out of this world :D
DJ is a egotist but he also loves to teach. His shows are just fancy ways to both show off and teach others. Even digging into his backstory the ego comes from a place of insecurity because he wants to make an impact on the world. It’s fun when writers give a sympathetic explanation for an unsympathetic character trait, and it’s cool that Juno incorporated it into the song
This helps me realize how great of an example DJ is of people who are afraid of the ‘second death,’ when people stop saying your name after you pass on. I think Banksy talked about that. We’re only on the planet for so long, and after you die, all people have to remember you by is what you leave behind. So you have all these artists who kill themselves over trying to leave an impression, either by overworking themselves into oblivion or, otherwise, being such a dramatic wreck that people only remember you for the weird stunts you pulled. DJ’s so overly concerned with being remembered and sending his music to space that he forgets to live on ‘Earth,’ treating his present-day fans like absolute garbage. His boss fight signifies how the whole universe revolves around him, after all.
(The snowball effect + rippling effect) * Transmission chain method = egroJ si eman ym iH. We're remembered for the wrong things by the wrong person. The guy who invented the wheel isn't forgotten. Just changed their initials.
Two fun things of note for DJ SS: -While his name sounds fancy, it essentially means "very tiny star exploding". -Throughout the entire fight, He stays in the center of the arena while planets, comets, and astrroids orbit around him... in other words, his fight makes it seem like he's the center of the universe. It's a fun little touch that helps to sell how full of himself DJ SS is, if his talks of launching orbital satellites to play his mix tapes in space didn't do that already. (speaking of, just realized the irony of his plan: having his music play forever... in the vaccuum of space, where nobody would even be able to hear it.)
The light of Vinyl City is these ones' main phrase, and while 1010 uses it to announce their undying loyalty to NSR and Vinyl City, DJSS basically just uses it to say "this is just a stepping stone, i'm gonna do better stuff in the future"
Another thing I want to point out: At the end of his song 1010 is still hopeful about his situation ("you may break my troops, but you won't break my spirit"). But DJ Subatomic Supernova seems to doubt about his superiority and whether his music actually matters in the grand scheme of things. I don't know if Juno will ever do the rest of NSR (not counting the rapper), but if he did, I hope he would integrate that into his songs
I love how completely antiethical this is to the previous NSR song with Lyrics for 1010. 1010 + Neon J. are proclaiming their loyalty to NSR and Vinyl City, rightfully pointing out that their music is literally providing energy to the entire city and that from their perspective, Zuke and Mayday are just terrorists threatening the entire livelyhood of the citizens that need to be stopped. DJSS on the other hand is completely self-centered and egotistical, boasting that he's a genius who goes far beyond the limitations of the Earth, and even agrees that NSR's rule will eventually end, but opposes Mayday and Zuke regardless because of their rebellion impacting him specifically. Both sides have a bit of further analysis, with Neon J. pointing out how Mayday and Zuke have hurt people who don't really deserve their wrath like Yinu, who is a little girl, putting into question whether Bunk Bed Junction really are doing the right thing or if they're just toppling old tyrants for new ones, which gets explored later in game. Meanwhile DJSS goes more introspective having somewhat of an existential crisis as the battle goes on as he tries to grapple with his own very short life and his fears that he will become irrelevant in the grand scheme of things like he says others will, hinting that he's more than just this smug asshole scientist. I think my favorite section of this song is the second part, especially these lines: _"And the light of Vinyl City... bah, who cares?/And the light of Vinyl City won't hold me back for long!/As the light of Vinyl City slowly fades away!"_ DJSS sees Vinyl City, the place he's supposed to be providing energy to and protecing, as literally little more than a burden, something he is destined to shrug off and toss aside. It's the perfect counterbalance to Neon J. and 1010 and how they're so loyal to NSR they're literal machines, and the Navy theme and the fact that 1010's bodies get constantly replaced during the boss fight reflect that. In a sense its a selflessness to the point you have no other purpose for yourself vs a selfishness to the point where you ignore those which you're supposed to help. To make a very long-winded post short, this is PHENOMENAL, and I'm so happy you've decided to bring lyrics to this, Juno.
DJ Subatomic supernova is an existencial crisis.... He just sees Vinyl city as a stepping stone as a "Way to spread his gospel" as he says. Eventually he thinks hell just get rid of it.
I'd love to hear your analysis of Eve. I don't understand her place among NSR. She's no DJ, musical prodigy, digital popstar, nor leader of a robotic boy band. She's not really a musical artist. She's more of a painting/sculpture type of artist. What is she doing amongst those whose focus is more on music?
There are some sad tones to this song especially when at the end where he sings about how he scared that his work won’t be remembered when he’s gone..... 💔🌎🎧
Sayu: "The light of Vinyl City shines like truest love!" Yinu('s mother): "The light of Vinyl City glows for her alone!" Eve: "The light of Vinyl City brought you back to me!"/"The light of Vinyl City means nothing to me!"/"The light of Vinyl City has burned out of me..." Tatiana: "The light of Vinyl City is called NSR!"
I didn't think you'd surpass 1010, but holy CRAP, this cover is the good stuff. Such expansive vocabulary and particular articulation! Mwah! And the use of autotune is on point here, too. Excellent work here, Juno! You've earned my adoration.
It is so amazing! I especially like the 4:37 - 4:44 moment. Colors of lyrics are going in order of spectral classification of stars, it is well thought-out. The whole song is brilliant at portraying DJSS's personality. This cover is shining brighter than the stars!
I never noticed that detail! Makes sense to seeing as how the biggest red giant stars are what collapse into black holes as the DJ did immediately following this
It even continues onwards into the black hole section, as preceding it is white, the colour of a neutron star, and then black, the colour of a, well, black hole.
For what ive seen from his dialogue he is more of "everybody is stupid inclusing me, but at least im trying to change it" at least thats what i interpret from both his reason to use the satelite to spread his music and his iconic "what have you done today, simpletons?" Phrase
some examples are him talking about playing his music out in space to immortalize his music out into space, and insulting BBJ playing rock by calling it something thats in the past
So why I did this is a mystery that will likely never be solved but here's what the reversed text things say after DJSS goes black hole: In the classical theory black holes can only absorb and not emit particles. However it is shown that quantum mechanical effects cause black holes to create and emit particles as if they were hot bodies... This thermal emission leads to a slow decrease in the mass of the black hole and to its eventual disappearance: any primordial black hole of mass less than about 10^15 g would have evaporated by now. Although these quantum effects violate the classical law that the area of the event horizon of a black hole cannot decrease, there remains a Generalized Second Law...

Wish this was the official lyrics because this is incredible and matches this character personality. Amazing job! Juno, you are a creative singer to come up this cover.
“You just don’t understand the brief nature of man! I aim to live beyond when planet Earth is gone.” That may be my favorite line. It really sums up his character motivation very well. His one goal is to leave a legacy. And the way the line is said (loudly and angrily) really seems to capture how important that is to him. I think that subtext, that desire to leave something behind when we’re gone, really speaks to the human condition. ...and I’m overthinking this. Love the song.
This tune shot for the stars and reached past the galaxies. Fantastic work, much grander than the average plutonian, more similar to a martian! Keep it up and have a nice day.
you got me into NSR with the 1010 video and honestly? It's one of my favorite games now. And I didn't think I'd see another NSR video, I thought that was just a one off video but i am almost halfway through and this is AMAZING. keep up the good content juno!
I like that in his defeat he contemplates his ideals and wonders he'll be another blip in the VASTNESS of our galaxy. Pretty cool little character development.
I mean, it is already a fear to him, to be forgotten and fade out from time. Its why he kept doing such grandeur and complex performance, even in his past as a university professor saids that he quit because he was not fulfilled. He was just confident that his music may last until BunkBed Junction crash his performance and make him confront his dread

@@goingtoscream9708 perfect parry is the same except you lose if you get hit even once, can kinda cheese it with their healing abilities (unless that's only on the switch version) but otherwise it seems that they may be playing on hard or crazy

Well from what I can gather not really, he knows humanity and earthlings as a whole are meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but he wants to go beyond that, and spread his music in the entire universe, he's really ambitious and does have a big ego but he's not exactly egocentric in my opinion
@@moodle6500 his fight literally takes place in an arena with a bunch of planets revolving around him, I think the symbolism is pretty obvious even if his dialogue doesn't get his self-centered personality across
@@moodle6500 He is extremely egocentric. He claims that humanity is useless in the grand scheme of things, but at the same time refuses to face the idea that he is the same way. However, deep down he knows it applies to him as well. As another comment stated, DJ SS is fundamentally scared of his own death and being forgotten. Everything he does is an attempt to escape from this truth. TL; DR: DJ SS believes that everyone is worthless, so he bolsters his ego and comes up with over-the-top plans in an attempt to convince himself he is different.

This was an amazing cover, definitely worth the wait! I love how you included the end, the beginning, etc. Very loyal to the original character and his boss fight! Makes me wonder what other battle themes from this game would be like with lyrics! (It kinda seemed like Juno was having fun with most of these lines, I hope that's the case..)
From the moment I knew of DJSS plans to scatter his music throughout the Universe I envisioned NSR 2 taking place during an invasion of funky aliens who felt dared by the songs DJSS sent to space.
I'm not sure if this was intentional but when DJSS says "fools who don't see the light polluting up the night." It could be a reference to light pollution , a form of pollution that makes it harder to see space at night.
way to make the lyrics fit the theme of this fight, both having a space motif and showing off DJ subatomic supernova's giant ego which oddly enough the original theme lacking the second so in that respect these lyrics fit like a glove
Nobody is talking about how hilarious it is that the people credited for lyrics are Juno, Alex and Stephen Hawking. Anyways, that ending is amazing. I'd listen to it on loop. The rest of the song is great too

Hahaha
Moonlight Cookie:DJ Cookie go brrrrrrrrrrr
Kinda like “Worthless” from _The Brave Little Toaster._ Surprisingly catchy for such a morose subject matter.
OwO
Two fun things of note for DJ SS:
-While his name sounds fancy, it essentially means "very tiny star exploding".
Anything's possible, especially in Sci-Fi.
Radio waves

That last part is actually lampshaded at 3:27.
Final phase is him being a black hole i just realized lol
The light of Vinyl City is these ones' main phrase, and while 1010 uses it to announce their undying loyalty to NSR and Vinyl City, DJSS basically just uses it to say "this is just a stepping stone, i'm gonna do better stuff in the future"
Another thing I want to point out:
At the end of his song 1010 is still hopeful about his situation ("you may break my troops, but you won't break my spirit").
But DJ Subatomic Supernova seems to doubt about his superiority and whether his music actually matters in the grand scheme of things.
I don't know if Juno will ever do the rest of NSR (not counting the rapper), but if he did, I hope he would integrate that into his songs

@Blake Wickman he could do sayu too , there can be multiple versions of a song
@@weirdidiot4616 yeah, I think the guy is called neon J
Is it just me or do these analysis comments never get enough love?
DJ Subatomic supernova is an existencial crisis....
He just sees Vinyl city as a stepping stone as a "Way to spread his gospel" as he says. Eventually he thinks hell just get rid of it.
This.... I like this analysis.
@Gideon van Zyl i am actually saying he is one.
The funny thing for me is... I always wanted Juno to do this but never thought he would.
Congrats, you predicted the future

In the classical theory black holes can only absorb and not emit particles. Gaze upon my works, and you will see
Now minuscule you are
My songs shall make the galaxies

And light of Vinyl City won't hold me back for long!

Ah yes. The astrophysicist with an egocentric view of the universe--he thinks it revolves around him.
And the boss battle against him takes this and makes it literal with planets orbiting around him!
