If it’s one singer singing with “2” voices then it’s a sign of a “bad”/ underused voice/ an undertrained singer.The voice should be connected with an upper, mixed/middle/chest and a lower register. The voices ideally shouldn’t be disconnected from each other. Not trying to put the singer down or insinuate they are “bad at singing” but a disconnected voice is sometimes a sign of improper technique usually from self teaching. But then again it could just be the way the song was edited. I’m not familiar with the singer

According to one of the in game collectible's(the USB sticks, specifically number three) their names are Remi, Tila, Dodo, and Sofa. Tila, the girl in the hoodie at the bottom of the screen whenever the four behind SAYU are shown in the fight, is SAYU's voice actor and singer. Since the vocals in this song are SAYU herself singing during the entire fight(in the game's universe, I know it's Nikki Simmons who did the actual vocals), then it stands to reason Tila was the one doing the singing. And while Tila apparently has an amazing singing voice, she's still rather young and potentially inexperienced. That disconnect you bring up? While it may not have been intentional, it can still be taken as just showing Tila's own inexperience, which if you ask me is really cool. Edit: This is just my interpretation of the differing voice range during the song, for all I know the difference could have been intentional or for some other reason. Either way doesn't actually matter to me, Nikki still did an amazing job with the vocals.
Head canon, I like to think that sometimes Tila (The voice behind Sayu from the 4) sometimes either forgets that she is supposed to make a "cutesy" voice for sayu or accidently turns the filter off, example : I like to think Sayu's voice is supposed to sound like 1:47 but sometimes ends up like 1:57 which is more deeper and more strong emotion pulled. In other words, Tila is a better singer than we expected.
Makes sense. The 4 creators seem to be a well oiled machine until things get tense, where they start to panic. Makes sense that Tila would make a mistake at some point. I mean, all 4 were fighting! At the age of 15-16! That's a lot of pressure, and so mistakes would happen. Heck, we see as much.
I mean, compared to the other villains, she is still safe in that all it'd take is the kids who run her to remake her in her old image. Mayday even asked them to not turn her into what they did in the end again.
@@alexanderpoirier3350 I can get behind that. Mayday and Zuke's sewer home has more rooms that I think were supposed to be unlocked as the game progressed. Maybe they'll show up in one of those rooms. What they would do, I have no clue. Or, they could come back to help take down NSR.

I mean I’d probably attribute part of that to the fact that it decided to launch on the EGS instead of Steam. The EGS isn’t exactly mainstream for most people. And the reputation it has does it no favors.

I just want to point out that out of all the bosses SAYU is the only one who's gotten over 1 million views on her music alone. And for good reason too, her song unironically slaps in general and if she were a real vocaloid I'd listen to her nonstop. It's really funny because she charts at number 4 in the games music charts and in reality she's pretty much the fan-favorite of the games audience. Anywho I really hope this game gets some kind of sequel only so I can hear another track from SAYU
It's December 2020. DJSS is the second ever song to reach 1M views. Personally, Sayu's theme is my favourite of all of them, followed by DJSS. I'm glad to see that many others agree.
If I could remember correctly, this game was originally going to be a racing game with a little of shooting in the mix. SAYU was originally going to be a pop star. (I guess with out being called a "digital idol" she could be considered real lol) and DJ subatomic super nova (Hopefully I said his name right) he would wear pants instead of shorts

And there's like one video so far from what I seen was like a little meme compilation that lasts for maybe a minute. And my guess is she's maybe the most popular characters in nsr. To be honest, I like all of the characters in the game. To me they seem all likable. 👍
I think her problem with reality isn't that she knows she's not real, but that fact that she's supposed to entice certian emotions, mostly positive. Her persona of happiness and euphoria is the emotions that they want their fans to feel. Like a form of escapism, when listening to her, your supposed to feel all that happy and energy and forget about the bad in the world. To hit her with "reality" is to diminish her purpose for existing in the first place.
It isn't escapism when you use that happy energy to tackle your problems head-on, or to heal from your wounds. Everyone needs a pick-me-up every now and then, and this gives Sayu her purpose. This is what I believe.
I feel like every boss in the game simultaneously deconstructs the good and bad of different parts of the music industry. Sayu shows the inherent flaws in vocaloid music of having a performer who isn’t real, but also demonstrates the talent, passion, and dedication behind each vocaloid with their art, music, movement, and editing.

It would be very trope-tacular, which this game doesn't seem to have a problem with being.

Honestly not a lot of indie games catch my attention but this one sticks out so hard from the rest, I’m really looking forward to playing this when I get the chance
I was really surprised this boss was a character. Vtuber have become very popular 2019-2020. Now that I went down the vtuber rabbit hole, I have even more of a appreciation on this character design and music its trying to emulate. Never gonna stop pressing the replay button for at least 3 months.
Oh yeah, I forgot that was becoming a thing! To me Sayu was always a jab towards vocaloids, given how an entire team of people is responsible for all the design choices... But a vocaloid's voice is fully synthesised, whereas here you have a live person providing the voice, so this part falls into the vtuber category more.
If you want something interesting : Every characters has something with the actual world... People deny others arts or genre ( all ), people change with power ( 1010 ), some think they are unique ( EVE ), some because a bad story will never give other a chance ( Tatiana and Rock ), and etc.... Look closely ...
@@nistarok123 Yeah, I did think this was taking a jab at Vocaloids and some vtubers, moreso Hatsune Miku and Kizuna AI. They're alot more on the "idol culture" side when compared to their contemporaries. There are many vocaloids though that exist almost exclusively just as their voicebanks and vtubers who have no connection to music, so really it's taking a jab at a very specific niche of virtualistic idols.
we can confidently say that she emulates both closely as both have some similarities I can point out from watching both Vocaloid's voices are fully synced but there are instances when it can become hard to tell if it's computerized or not and also the girl who did her voice can signal to Vtubers but also her voice is noticeably modified and other thing is that her design is modified and her actions can EITHER be controlled via body tracking or computer which it honestly can be both but one thing I wanna point out that noone noticed is the scene where the crowd gets involved (idk if that happens for Vtubers) but that is definitely common in Vocaloid (Hatsune Miku) concerts
Remember that to Sayu get accepted to EDM, Tatiana had to hear this song and likes it. So its almost canon that Tatiana hears vocaloid music for liking

I was looking for a game with music as a meaning full aspect and this delivered, I love Osu! and other rhythm games growing up like amplitude. This game will be awesome and this music is insanely fun.

The fact that this game wasn’t nominated as a candidate for best score and music in the 2020 game awards is ridiculous. So many different and amazing music styles all done brilliantly.

Despite being described as "Bass and Drum", i really like that the music is evolving from Kawai pop/bass, to Future bass, until finally it goes full on J-electro/Cytus/James Landino.

I mean, the reason I even know about this game is because RUclips decided to recommend Sayu’s boss fight for a few days straight. Not that I’m complaining about it....
This song had already been in my Playlist for months before I even knew it was from a video game. I thought No Straight Roads was the name of the song and Sayu was the music group. And then I got recommended another song from the soundtrack and realized I was wrong and looked it up in the Playstation store three days ago and I already love it. I fought DJ Drix in space, unplugged Hatsune Mizu, and last I played, I had just beat up a little girl's demon mom and smashed her dead father's piano after heckling her piano playing and making her cry, and I am beginning to think that Mayday and Zuke might not be the good guys anymore. And then I saw there were Christmas remixes of every boss fight that change not just the music, but also the arenas and set pieces and puts everyone in cute costumes, and I love it even more.
The way the music gets more serious as the battle intensifies, the crowd joins in, and the music even starts to distort, it really gets your heart going doki doki.
It's funny because in the game the mix of EDM and Rock are my favorite parts. I hope the main characters gain respect for there rivals and learn that there best work is when they're dancing with the enemy and rejecting the culture at the same time. Respectful rebellion makes some awesome rock!
Calling it now. Tattiana the main bad is secretly their lost idol Fyra and in the end all of their defeated enemies team up with Mayday and Zuke to defeat Tattiana and remind her who she really is. Hopefully with Rock costume versions of the characters. Imagine a Cutesy Punk Rock looking Sayu.

If you notice they really never say the other genre is bad: tatiana just says rock is out of fashion and mayday at most calls edm "noise", they limit themselves to heightening their respective sound. they race, but never try to trip eachother.
My girlfriend plays several instruments, but her true passion is percussion. On the other hand I play both guitar and bass on a lower level, since I'm mostly self-taught. She's vivid, full of life, loves sports and being active, expressive, eccentric and impulsive. On the other hand I'm stoic, calm, rational and kind of a nerd, always taking baby steps but only letting go with her. We recently started playing NSR on multiplayer mode and, without her ever playing or previously knowing about the game's characters, she chose May and I chose Zuke. It's just funny to me how we instantly orbitted towards the characters that embodied our personalities better despite them playing the opposite instrument we play.

I like DKWest encounters too, but we enjoyed Sayu the most, despite it being terrible in multiplayer (the camera is absolutely awful in this stage). It took us a lot of trial and error, but the fight was fun and has great music (like the rest of the game tbh).

Thinking about the themes in this game, I think Sayu is the most important character in the sense that even though she's fake, she's also the most genuine. 1010 is literally manufactured, Eve doesn't know what she is and lives in a constant state of existential crisis, Yinu is controlled by an abusive mother, DJ SS is arrogant and not actually really that good. Even Tatiana seems to have been lying to herself about who she was in an attempt to correct her past mistakes. Sayu is the only unabashedly "real" character despite being a virtual avatar crafted by four weebs. Something about that rings true, tbh...

Since i learn about this game days ago and the soundtrack, i been hooked amost 24/7 to listen to DJSS, 1010 and Sayu's theme. Also there is a mix of 1010 with Sayu who sounds like someone archived perfection over perfection.
I just realized something in the vocals. There's 2-3 different tones. One is higher one is lower tone. Kinda like how Sayu is multiple people in game, it sounds like multiple people are singing the song.
I've never played the game, but this character and this song really speaks to me in a way that makes me feel happy for being me, I don't get that a lot.

This isn't the first time I've seen something about music genre's battling but what I like about this one is that Rock isn't the "Villain" because in a lot of those kind of story's they always make Rock the "villain genre" so not only is this refreshing (cause I am a rock fan) but I have a feeling that the game isn't trying to make EDM the "villain" genre either, I feel like both party's will learn that whatever kind of music you like is ok. I think yinu was supposed to represent parents forcing their children into the music industry to make them live the dreams they had, that's why there's puppet imagery

Tbh, I understand their point of view to Vocaloids/Utauloids, but it's not actually a lazy thing or just a protect. There is a BIG number of vocaloid producers that make amazing world and talk about serious issues, like Maretu, Kikuo, Steampianist, Ghost, and many others. And, let's not forget some of them made a big revolution to the Vocaloid and musical world, like Wowaka. What I mean is, there is TON of work doing a Vocaloid/Utauloid song or even using one properly, so... The part when they said "go study or get a life" actually it's everyone's reality, they are artists too, art has so many shapes... So, let's give some love and respect to our beautiful Vocaloid/Utauloid producers, shall we?

If it’s one singer singing with “2” voices then it’s a sign of a “bad”/ underused voice/ an undertrained singer.The voice should be connected with an upper, mixed/middle/chest and a lower register. The voices ideally shouldn’t be disconnected from each other.
Not trying to put the singer down or insinuate they are “bad at singing” but a disconnected voice is sometimes a sign of improper technique usually from self teaching.

According to one of the in game collectible's(the USB sticks, specifically number three) their names are Remi, Tila, Dodo, and Sofa. Tila, the girl in the hoodie at the bottom of the screen whenever the four behind SAYU are shown in the fight, is SAYU's voice actor and singer.
Since the vocals in this song are SAYU herself singing during the entire fight(in the game's universe, I know it's Nikki Simmons who did the actual vocals), then it stands to reason Tila was the one doing the singing. And while Tila apparently has an amazing singing voice, she's still rather young and potentially inexperienced. That disconnect you bring up? While it may not have been intentional, it can still be taken as just showing Tila's own inexperience, which if you ask me is really cool.
Edit: This is just my interpretation of the differing voice range during the song, for all I know the difference could have been intentional or for some other reason. Either way doesn't actually matter to me, Nikki still did an amazing job with the vocals.

Head canon, I like to think that sometimes Tila (The voice behind Sayu from the 4) sometimes either forgets that she is supposed to make a "cutesy" voice for sayu or accidently turns the filter off, example : I like to think Sayu's voice is supposed to sound like 1:47 but sometimes ends up like 1:57 which is more deeper and more strong emotion pulled. In other words, Tila is a better singer than we expected.

I just want to point out that out of all the bosses SAYU is the only one who's gotten over 1 million views on her music alone. And for good reason too, her song unironically slaps in general and if she were a real vocaloid I'd listen to her nonstop. I think her problem with reality isn't that she knows she's not real, but that fact that she's supposed to entice certian emotions, mostly positive. Her persona of happiness and euphoria is the emotions that they want their fans to feel. I feel like every boss in the game simultaneously deconstructs the good and bad of different parts of the music industry. I was really surprised this boss was a character.
Vtuber have become very popular 2019-2020.
Now that I went down the vtuber rabbit hole, I have even more of a appreciation on this character design and music its trying to emulate.
Never gonna stop pressing the replay button for at least 3 months.
Oh yeah, I forgot that was becoming a thing! To me Sayu was always a jab towards vocaloids, given how an entire team of people is responsible for all the design choices... But a vocaloid's voice is fully synthesised, whereas here you have a live person providing the voice, so this part falls into the vtuber category more.
If you want something interesting : Every characters has something with the actual world... People deny others arts or genre ( all ), people change with power ( 1010 ), some think they are unique ( EVE ), some because a bad story will never give other a chance ( Tatiana and Rock ), and etc.... Look closely ...
@@nistarok123 Yeah, I did think this was taking a jab at Vocaloids and some vtubers, moreso Hatsune Miku and Kizuna AI. They're alot more on the "idol culture" side when compared to their contemporaries. There are many vocaloids though that exist almost exclusively just as their voicebanks and vtubers who have no connection to music, so really it's taking a jab at a very specific niche of virtualistic idols.
we can confidently say that she emulates both closely as both have some similarities I can point out from watching both
Vocaloid's voices are fully synced but there are instances when it can become hard to tell if it's computerized or not and also the girl who did her voice can signal to Vtubers but also her voice is noticeably modified
and other thing is that her design is modified and her actions can EITHER be controlled via body tracking or computer which it honestly can be both
but one thing I wanna point out that noone noticed is the scene where the crowd gets involved (idk if that happens for Vtubers) but that is definitely common in Vocaloid (Hatsune Miku) concerts
Remember that to Sayu get accepted to EDM, Tatiana had to hear this song and likes it. So its almost canon that Tatiana hears vocaloid music for liking

This song is actually why I started liking NSR
This song had already been in my Playlist for months before I even knew it was from a video game. I thought No Straight Roads was the name of the song and Sayu was the music group. And then I got recommended another song from the soundtrack and realized I was wrong and looked it up in the Playstation store three days ago and I already love it.
I fought DJ Drix in space, unplugged Hatsune Mizu, and last I played, I had just beat up a little girl's demon mom and smashed her dead father's piano after heckling her piano playing and making her cry, and I am beginning to think that Mayday and Zuke might not be the good guys anymore. And then I saw there were Christmas remixes of every boss fight that change not just the music, but also the arenas and set pieces and puts everyone in cute costumes, and I love it even more.

If you notice they really never say the other genre is bad: tatiana just says rock is out of fashion and mayday at most calls edm "noise", they limit themselves to heightening their respective sound. they race, but never try to trip eachother.
My girlfriend plays several instruments, but her true passion is percussion. On the other hand I play both guitar and bass on a lower level, since I'm mostly self-taught. She's vivid, full of life, loves sports and being active, expressive, eccentric and impulsive. On the other hand I'm stoic, calm, rational and kind of a nerd, always taking baby steps but only letting go with her.
We recently started playing NSR on multiplayer mode and, without her ever playing or previously knowing about the game's characters, she chose May and I chose Zuke.
It's just funny to me how we instantly orbitted towards the characters that embodied our personalities better despite them playing the opposite instrument we play.

I like DKWest encounters too, but we enjoyed Sayu the most, despite it being terrible in multiplayer (the camera is absolutely awful in this stage). It took us a lot of trial and error, but the fight was fun and has great music (like the rest of the game tbh).

Thinking about the themes in this game, I think Sayu is the most important character in the sense that even though she's fake, she's also the most genuine. 1010 is literally manufactured, Eve doesn't know what she is and lives in a constant state of existential crisis, Yinu is controlled by an abusive mother, DJ SS is arrogant and not actually really that good. Even Tatiana seems to have been lying to herself about who she was in an attempt to correct her past mistakes. Sayu is the only unabashedly "real" character despite being a virtual avatar crafted by four weebs. Something about that rings true, tbh...
Yinu’s mom genuinely cares about her, she just went really overboard. I’d call her more overbearing than abusive.

When I tell you that this game is an underated gem it is not an apinion, It's a FACT. The music, the voice acting, the diversity and the character are all amazing.

There's 2-3 different tones. One is higher
one is lower tone. Kinda like how Sayu is multiple people in game, it sounds like multiple people are singing the song.
I think one of the tones is actually supposed to be MayDay: ya know, she was really getting into the rhythm at one point, sooo x3

This isn't the first time I've seen something about music genre's battling but what I like about this one is that Rock isn't the "Villain" because in a lot of those kind of story's they always make Rock the "villain genre" so not only is this refreshing (cause I am a rock fan) but I have a feeling that the game isn't trying to make EDM the "villain" genre either, I feel like both party's will learn that whatever kind of music you like is ok. Tbh, I understand their point of view to Vocaloids/Utauloids, but it's not actually a lazy thing or just a protect. There is a BIG number of vocaloid producers that make amazing world and talk about serious issues, like Maretu, Kikuo, Steampianist, Ghost, and many others. And, let's not forget some of them made a big revolution to the Vocaloid and musical world, like Wowaka.
What I mean is, there is TON of work doing a Vocaloid/Utauloid song or even using one properly, so... The part when they said "go study or get a life" actually it's everyone's reality, they are artists too, art has so many shapes... So, let's give some love and respect to our beautiful Vocaloid/Utauloid producers, shall we?
