- This is surely the most important video of the year for the exceptional historical documentation of these two bells, the oldest in Italy still working on a bell tower. It is truly incredible to think that these two bells have been ringing on this tower for a good 914 years!

The very old Romanesque façade of the church in Puglia (Arezzo) is dominated by the bell tower, which houses the most precious treasure of this building: two bells dating back to 1109 that have the typical medieval beehive shape, which is why the sound is so bad. These are the oldest bells in the diocese, the oldest in Italy that are still working, but above all the first bells to be signed by the bell founder. The approximate notes of these bells are a G and an F sharp.
Puglia was already inhabited by the ancient Romans, because the hill stands on the road that connected the cities of Arezzo and Bologna in Roman times, passing on one of the main routes to the capital of the Roman Empire. In the Middle Ages, the small village was fortified, building a castle and two churches within the walls. The surviving church was transformed in the early 12th century in the Romanesque style, when the new façade with the bell tower was built and the two bells that still exist were cast. The church dedicated to Mary Assumed into Heaven is one of the best-preserved churches in the Tuscan Romanesque style, built on top of the hill for defensive purposes. From the roof of the church we see the two magnificent and historic bells, observing the beautiful panorama of the entire Tuscan landscape.

@@c-historia Qui in Lunigiana le campane più antiche (e che suonano ancora) sono dei primi del '300 essendo andata distrutta quella del 1277 a meta del '700 a causa di un fulmine.

Queste campane potrebbero tranquillamente stare in un museo, particolare il fatto che siano ancora in uso
una vera rarità davvero, erano lì ma nessuno se ne interessava ahah il fatto che non siano in un museo è una benedizione; mettere nel museo è un po' come uccidere. Bello quando vai nel museo... ma uno strumento musicale in un museo è ormai morto, qui invece sono molto vive ed è una gioia sentirle!
metterle in un museo sarebbe ucciderle, averle elettrificate le ha comunque ferite. era senz altro meglio ,a parer mio, restaurarle con due bei ceppi in legno con aspe e corde.

le campane sono davvero interessanti e il fatto che siano ancora su un campanile significa che la gente che ha curato questa chiesa era attenta alla cultura, il fatto di non averle portate in un museo costituisce elemento di grande vanto
@@c-historia io ora non conosco la situazione in questo particolare caso, ma in Toscana spesso vengono lasciate non per mantenere la tradizione, ma semplicemente per mancanza di soldi per fonderle nuove o perché c'è poco interesse e si sottovaluta la preziosità di esse. Purtroppo il centro Italia è la zona più a rischio per campane di una certa antichità, a differenza delle regioni settentrionali o meridionali
