  • Located in Piazza Annunziata, the church of 'Ave Gratia Plena', commonly known as 'dell'Annunziata', probably dates back to the 9th century. Rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century, it was consecrated by the Bishop of Alife Pietro Paolo De Medici on 8 December 1640. The construction of the façade and bell tower dates back to 1694. The interior has a plan with three naves: the side naves have six altars set against the walls, each of them featuring precious 16th-century and Baroque works of art. At the far end of the chancel are Aniello Giordano's choir made in 1748 and the large painting of the 'Wedding at Cana' by Nicola Maria Rossi in 1732. Ave Gratia Plena has been a diocesan Marian Sanctuary since 1937, at the behest of the Bishop of Alife, Monsignor Luigi Noviello, since it houses the Marian cult of the Immaculate Conception, whose wooden statue was made by sculptor Gennaro D'Amore in 1763 and crowned in 1894 by decree of the Vatican Chapter. The bell tower is about 25m high and houses three bells for ringing; on its top are the bells of the clock, built by Alfonso Curci of Naples in 1889.

Presentation, recitation of each bell, angelus at 12 noon (3-4-5-1) and plenum. I dedicate this video to my friends Giacomo, Alfonso and Roberto, who accompanied me, Francesco, Gabriele and Riccardo on a visit to some interesting bell towers in the town of Upper Caserta. I also thank the parish priest, Fr. Armando Visone, for his hospitality towards us.
