As what Jim fuller have said before “Ak are so simple to make, you can one poorly and it will still work just not as good with someone who had the knowledge”
Well it could be worse. I know people that didn’t get anything back then. They resigned themselves to go out and buy a SKS as well as an AK at today’s prices. At least you got in at basement prices on one of them.
As an AR guy whose 1st center fire rifle I shot was the M16A2 in MarineCorps boot camp, i real like my wasr10. Took a carbine course and running a tricked out AKM that Rob ski would approve of was very challenging. Dang I love both of these platforms!
I totally agree. I did a lot of fitting/tuning on mine, and they’re without a doubt my go-to triggers for AKs. I always reprofile the hammer to take out the hard ridges and smooth out the action, grind down the back of the disconnector to make sure it’s not smacking into the rear rivet of the trigger guard, and bevel the edge of the single trigger hook to make sure the bolt carrier isn’t hitting it when it’s cycling back and forth. After doing those three things, the triggers have run flawlessly for me!
@@KB-kw8ni that makes absolutely zero sense considering it has no effect on the disconnector whatsoever, aside from making it so that the bottom of it doesn't smack into the rivet. it has no effect on the functionality of it whatsoever.
Having been in the AK world for almost 3 years now, the absolute worst part about our community is how companies and AK peeps take advantage of each other through severe markups in price. I thought I was overpaying when I dropped just over $2k on a good AK, but to hear AKs going for what they are is insane. At the end of the day, it's an AK. If an HK MR556, arguably one of the finest engineered AR platform rifles, goes for $3k, there's no reason an AK should get anywhere near that. "Market value" is one of the biggest scams I'd say I experienced in my journey, personally.
It depends on the company you buy from. A lot of the reason a gun becomes more expensive is not necessarily because of the quality of materials, or how complex it is internally, but how many hands touched it. Guns that go through rigorous QC evaluation, fitment, and polishing up often become significantly more expensive. ARs are no different. The floor for ARs is lower - you can get a bottom barrel one for $400, a decent one for $1k, and a gucci one for $2k+. Because AKs are less common, the floor is closer to $800. That said, PSA is the way to go for a working man's AK. HK charges $3k for their rifle because they're the Apple of the gun industry - $1k of the price tag is a brand tax.
Uh no you miss the mark. The AK is more expensive because the manufacturing process isn’t as efficient and therefore costs more. Doesn’t mean it’s got any level of quality. And those “budget” AR’s that you frown on are just as good or better than the AK’s you mention as “working man’s” which you really mean budget AK. Don’t lie to yourself, the AK has never been and still isn’t at the level of the AR. Those modernized AK’s are always way too expensive for it’s functionality. Now if someone wants an AK just because they think it’s cool then I say rock on brother.
TFB TV just did a great video that toured Rifle Dynamics and showed why they cost what they do - great video. Go watch it - then buy one of their rifles. My rifles were two RD-701s and one RD-503.
I've gotten into AK's in the past year. I rewelded a Galil sar and then did a Yugo m64 reweld. I love Galils. I bought one of the new 13" gen 1 rock and lock Galil Ace in 556 and got rid of all the polymer. Put a rs regulate handguard on the front. I don't shoot anything unsuppressed so I had to put a kns adjustable gas piston on it. I own ar15's, bren 2ms, mcx in 300 and 556. The Galil is still my favorite. The AK just has a charm that the new guns don't have.
You forgot to mention that mags, rails, and everything else has to be fit to that gun. Whereas Ar are 99% drop in or plug in play. FANTASTIC video homies! I really enjoyed it
My biggest problem back in the day was the length of pull. As a bigger guy, shooting my ak wasn't very fun. That being said I bought mine at a Dunhams for $325. That's how long ago that was lol. New products have definitely brought these rifles back into relevance.

@1911 Syndicate You must get your sticky hands on a Krebs "Assneck"... I've had several AKs all of which were nice Arsenal Siagas. Just never liked the manual of arms so except for one, I sold 'em all off. I never shot it and eventually traded it for a Colt 6944. ...Back to the Krebs Assneck...I'd grab one in .000001 seconds if I could afford it. Edit..Forgot to say I just picked up a PSA AKV and it's a riot...also has a bolt lock/release and last round bolt lock open feature.
The ak has never evolved like the ar. It's just that some people perform intricate plastic surgeries on them in an attempt to make them more like ar's. Unfortunately, the surgeon is usually unlicensed, unregulated, and self taught. This leads to wildly different results but things are getting better.
10:42 "punches me in the face"... its cause you're not putting your cheek in the right spot. that divit in the stock in made for your cheek bone to go. Again, different manual of arms, and your stance will have to change compared to an AR. for me this stance has just become my go-to now, for better or worse.
So, I’ll get this out of the way right now saying I am very much an AR dude. That said, I completely understand the up sides to having a piston driven bolt. It has no gas blow back when running suppressed, just to name one. However, I would argue that ARs have evolved just as AKs have. Case in point, maybe only 2 of my many uppers may, or may not, be chambered in 5.56. I also may, or may not, have 300 BLK and 7.62x93 uppers. So, I can run any common round, only having to swap uppers, and if I go 7.62x39, swap mags as well. The point is, and I’m in no way trying to discourage folks from AKs at all. I think they’re a fantastic platform and very reliable. I just think that if you started out as an AR dude, why spend the money on a whole new rifle when you could simply buy a new upper to support the round you want? Personally, I prefer the 300 BLK because I can load it for either super or subsonic and I can make the cases out of spent 5.56 brass. Not to mention a 300 BLK is a .30 caliber round just the same as a standard AK round. Meaning I can deliver the same punch as an AK out of my AR platform 300 BLK.
I think the biggest issue in the AK-sphere right now is pricing and ammo availability. AKs are no longer budget alternatives with plentiful, steel case ammo. The rifles are getting expensive, the upgrades too, and while the ammo supply issue is starting to go away, it now costs the same as most 5.56 options out there. That’s the hardest sell to the AR crowd. Why pay the same for a rifle that has less plentiful ammo and aftermarket options? The AR market is just better established. While the AK is quickly catching up, it’s still far behind.
Those are truly just overpriced my dude. They sure look solid good though but I don’t feel you get the best bang for buck. In my personal opinion, out of the custom stuff, as sexy as MDs are, I’d go for an Occam Defense. Bryan really builds a fantastic weapon. RD is also another overpriced option. Honestly, I think the best options out there ( currently) are the polish beryls. Wbps are a close second, safely everything else out there now days is either over priced / hyped or trash ( …. Arsenals). Honestly. I think building one with a good smith is the way to go.
I like taking the wood off to lighten it up with light rails but I don’t like crap on my gun. White light just means “shoot me right here” in my book. You put tritium night sights on an ak and you do not need optics. I love a lean and mean iron sight AK rig. Just something about the simplicity and elegance of it.
First time I had one in my hands I knew it was one for me. Call it cope but never cared for the extra features of the AR nor its eRgOs. For me, keep it simple stupid.. and the AK is stupid simple.
No disrespect to rifle dynamtics but some of the main issues that the AK has (Charging Handle on the wrong side, no last round bolt hold open, and no bilt release) are still issues... The Only "AK" ive ever seen fix the AK is the IWI Galil ACE
I'm a total AK nerd, since about 2003 because ammo was so cheap and plentiful, it made training cheap. Got into ARs in 2004 when the AWB died a horrible agonizing death, just as all AWBs should. I've got quite a few of both, and I love both systems. RD makes some great AKs, as does Krebs Custom, Joe Firearms, Meridian Defense, M-13 Industries, Occam Defense, and Dissident Arms. If you want a modular quality AK out of the box, but an IWI Galil ACE.
The new Serbian military rifle is in 6.5 grendel in an ak style pattern. I’d be all over that. You also have ak pattern that with the right mags will lock back on the last round being fired. A 6.5 grendel ak pattern would be my jam. Screw a 6 arc. If I’m in a Florida swamp hunting hogs at night I trust my 129gr SST 6.5 grendel. I don’t trust a 6 arc 108gr to do the same job. Should it fail and that hog 120yds away bolts towards you or any other hog in that pack as they scatter. You’re in a world of hurt. I prefer my 6.5x39 and in those nasty, muddy, foliage thick swamps I want a platform I know will go bang every time. Welcome to the AK platform.
The worst in the AK community are not the people you will meet at the range or at competitions, but those you will find in the social media forums who hate anything below two grand and everyone who can't afford it. To me, to be a part of the Second Amendment fight, be it with AKs or ARs, we should be cheering on American companies and the poor American folk buying up their stash, because that means more people joining the fight. I don't care if you're AK or AR, if you're getting out there, being responsible and safe, training and bringing more people out of the Hollywood/Mainstream Media mindset and into the 2A fight, we're brothers.
As an AK guy I welcome everyone to the platform. However the real snobby AR guys get annoying. All they do is complain. “My bolt release, my last round hold open, it’s too heavy, the recoil is too much” most people understand that it’s a different manual of arms and there’s a learning curves and trade offs. But the snobby AR guys are spoiled. Stick to your AR lol
@@Chrisblau all are welcome just do your research 🤣 these are primitive tools compared to ARs even the most Ar’d AK will not handle the same but that’s part of the appeal it’s a man’s rifle 🤣
Before I watch the whole video: I think the reason more guys don't get into AKs is accuracy. Deserved or not, AKs have a reputation for poor accuracy. A lot of AR guys throw a hissy fit and think their their new AR barrel is defective if it shoots 1.5 MOA.

The best car commercial i have heard oh, I mean AK.. ..😂😂
Best real estate company ads
You are a meta humor lord
What do you think of the QBZ191 ??
Don’t know that one
Rifle D is some sweet shiz - tooth decay level sugar love! I am intrigued with the 5.56 AK coming. Giddy up and slap yerself silly - peace out!✌🏼
🤙🏻
Thanks for watching dude we appreciate you
I like AK’s it i don’t own one cause I’m too poor to feed my ARs and an AK. And yes I’m aware there are 5.56 AK’s but i don’t see the point in another 16” 5.56 gun.
AK curious...Nice dad joke! Great vid
Love the Men in Black reference on the thumbnail. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha somehow you’re the first to pick up on that
@1911 Syndicate You must get your sticky hands on a Krebs "Assneck"...
That AK's a real thumper!
Algs properly installed are fine but they require a lot of work to properly install sometimes
I just think AK’s look cooler and feel nicer to shoot. Kinda the same as 45 push vs 9mm snap
this video is super epic for some reason, reminds me of the Lord of The Ring vibes lol
We’ll take that as a compliment 😂😂😂 as long as Jake is Gollem
SureShot Mk3 Chasis
The ak has never evolved like the ar. It's just that some people perform intricate plastic surgeries on them in an attempt to make them more like ar's. Unfortunately, the surgeon is usually unlicensed, unregulated, and self taught. This leads to wildly different results but things are getting better.
What muzzle device is that ? Sorry if I missed it on the video
10:42 "punches me in the face"... its cause you're not putting your cheek in the right spot. that divit in the stock in made for your cheek bone to go. Again, different manual of arms, and your stance will have to change compared to an AR. for me this stance has just become my go-to now, for better or worse.
Could you modernize a Zastava m70? Like different hand guard for a light and what not?
Jake, what brand and model is your jacket? It's bad ass. Is it in Arid MC?
Sitka arrowhead. MDWX. Very hard to find though
@@1911syndicate thanks
Got a meridian volk ordered in January of last year. Still waiting on it. They tell me soon. But I wonder if they even exist. 🤷♂️
The best AK I've gotten
@@chriswille6681 It's comforting to know someone actually owns one. 😆
Yeah but can they do conversions of Saiga sporting rifle?
I'm w/Chris, I just can't get into them. 🇺🇲 🇺🇸 Great video, though!
Right? Just can’t but I also get why dudes like them just ain’t my thing bruh
This is the AK-47 the preferred weapon of your enemy...
Since the case geometry is similar, sure wish someone would make an AK Grendel along with mags.
Molot VEPR was in Grendel
I think the biggest issue in the AK-sphere right now is pricing and ammo availability. AKs are no longer budget alternatives with plentiful, steel case ammo. The rifles are getting expensive, the upgrades too, and while the ammo supply issue is starting to go away, it now costs the same as most 5.56 options out there.
That’s the hardest sell to the AR crowd. Why pay the same for a rifle that has less plentiful ammo and aftermarket options? The AR market is just better established. While the AK is quickly catching up, it’s still far behind.
Get a Robinson Arms XCR
As a AK guy I fall in the Meridian Defense is the only AK for me!👍🏼🤯🔫
Those are truly just overpriced my dude.
I think the most important part is to have fun stay in your budget an ak is just as enjoyable as a ar.
I mean yea. Don’t take on debt to get an AK
But RD came out with the 556 nato ak years ago??
Not currently though
6.5 Grendel ARs FTW
The Only "AK" ive ever seen fix the AK is the IWI Galil ACE
if i drop an ALG trigger into my AK, and it gifts me 3 rd burst...i keep my mouth shut and wait for shtf 🤷🏾♂️
😂😂😂😂
The ole ak stock cheek weld and length of pull are perfect for me you’d think I was a damn commie if I didn’t love freedom so much.
Galil is not an AK. Totally different technical data package specs and most parts are not interchangeable
Confused, aren't the RD guys already producing 556 AK's?
Jim Fuller and the guys at Rifle Dynamics make AKs that are basically sex.
I want to see you guys review the dog lol
He shits. He eats chicken. He barks. 5 stars
Every turnoff y'all mentioned rofl is the very reason I don't own one. This and the Midwest aks though have got me thinking though.
25 years too late to get into the AK market. Unless you are getting a new production Galil ace, you are severely overpaying for a vibe
Nahhhh
AKs Rule 🥃👉🏾🔥
Wait... We we all know that the ODS-1775 is the modern AK.
Our community is very good at tearing itself apart
To be honest, I like the "old and busted" look.
siderail, red dot, barrel mount flashlight, sling
no fat on this hog.
Yea when he was talking about AK guys bing snobby, i was like AR guys are the same way lmao
So are you woecoking us or should I not come into the AK world. I’m confused 😂😂😂 either way thanks for watching I’m just giving you a heard time.
@@Chrisblau all are welcome just do your research 🤣 these are primitive tools compared to ARs even the most Ar’d AK will not handle the same but that’s part of the appeal it’s a man’s rifle 🤣
M70 is fine the way she is... maybe get a sidemount and a 3x9 but thats it
More dog b roll please. ❤
I miss Finn and Jake shooting out the roof.
AK curious , I’m fucking dead
😂😂😂
Before I watch the whole video: I think the reason more guys don't get into AKs is accuracy. Deserved or not, AKs have a reputation for poor accuracy. A lot of AR guys throw a hissy fit and think their their new AR barrel is defective if it shoots 1.5 MOA.
Right. When they’re only ever going to shoot their gun to 100 yards. Which you can do with an MP5
