My heart was thumping just watching. That crossing took considerable skill. Thank you for sharing your journey. Will be checking out your merch. Blessings.
That was enjoyable as always.. I know what your talking about with that little boat , I sail a howmar 12fg dingy, & anything over 10mph is reaching her threshold comfort level. It has no reefing points & my hanks are starting to tear away from the luff on the jib. You make great videos & I love the intro music, that song dances around in my head. Got a good chuckle when you poured water out of your boot. Also the visual motion of the shore line, indicating the temperament of the water you just traversed was telling . Very enjoyable keep em coming.
Little plastic dinghies like that are very delicate to handle in a blow. I know exactly what you mean. My heavily planked wooden skiffs more stable. The flat bottom probably helps too in most conditions. Thanks, glad you enjoy! I usually don't mind getting wet feet when loading the skiff on the trailer. But put on the boots to stay dry in cold water. Yeah, that didn't work out with the waves rolling in... haha
The waves weren't too bad, but you had a strong and unstable wind. You did well to spill the wind and have your hand on the sheet all the time to be ready at all times for a potential capsize situation. Well done!
The waves were so much bigger than they look on video. You can tell somewhat from the motion of the boat in relation to the shoreline. It was for sure a sheet in hand situation!
Small lakes can be fun. Little creeks too. Most people call the big waters around here Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, but they have current and are really just flooded sections of river. So I call em what they are, the Cumberland and Tennessee River!
For sure, no shame in reefing. Not sure what you're sailing, but in a fiberglass boat, I feel constantly on the verge of capsize haha. There is something to be said for the added stability of a heavily planked wooden boat like mine. It does leave me wanting more power at times though. I should probably increase sail area with multiple rows of reef points on the main.
The new shirts are great! Nothing wrong with tasteful merch.
Thank you! I'm resisting the urge to buy all my own designs haha.

All I know is keep her moving forward and right side up!

@@cumberlandrover You are too modest, but you are a good sailor. Like me, you like to avoid capsizing! 😄
You look good man, slimmed down and all!
Thank you! I'm getting back to eating right and working out.
We want you to be comfortable with your own time and thanks again 🎉
I envy your interesting waters, nothing but lakes within an hour's drive of me.

No shame in taking a reef or 2 in. I ve turned turtle in less wind than that for the lack of reefing.

Do you ship to Australia
Yes! Shirts ship internationally. It may take more than 16 business days to reach Australia.
