      I had the ZOOM 505 multi effects processor back in the late 90's . I would spend hours scrolling through patches. Got the GX1 Four as a Christmas gift and down the rabit hole I have gone. I am going to hook it up to a PC to get the most out of it. This is going to be hours of entertainement and fun with all the effects. plus a decent wha, looper and rthym. oh yeah the tuner is very good too, was intonating a guitar with it and it does a fantastic job. ZOOM did it again this is a great tool for any guitarist at any level.

    Great review... thanks! I saw a GX1on in use recently by an acoustic performer while I was on a recent holiday in Bali. I sat in with him and sing, which was cool. Came looking for reviews and found this, so I have some decisions to make! lol. Wouldn't it be good if these pedals had a second connectable pedal or panel that you could mount at hand height, say on a mic stand, for easy selections without bending down while performing, in addition to the foot switch?

    Hey Rob!!
    Just got mine today, I ordered it from Amazon and they sent it to my old address and I moved away from there.
    But my old neighbour got it delivered to his unit by accident and he contacted me to let me know it was there which was super nice of him.
    So I picked it up today and it’s pretty wicked.
    I seen this pedal and with the price for what you get it’s a good value.
    I just wanted a delay and a loop pedal but this was a better option for the same price as the two individual effects with so much more.
    Thanks for the upload and the review.

    We all know that zoom's amp modeling was never the best, but usable tones are possible with some tweaking. 1 thing nobody ever mentions is that ALL of zoom's pedals have universal effect slots. What I mean is you can put ANY effect in ANY slot. If I want 3 distortions and 2 delays or 2 of the same distortion and 3 reverbs etc, I can do that with the zoom. There's nothing else in this range that can do that. Plus the fact that you can add or remove effects from the unit itself, and usb midi is possible. Pretty incredible for budget gear

    I just ordered one of these. I am not a musician, just somebody who has taught himself how to play the guitar a bit over the years. I am not great at it, but I have a lot of fun! I just bought something called a Cube Baby for under $40.00 and it actually works very well, but is a bit too small for my tastes. It also does not have the drum loops like this Zoom does. My only concern about this Zoom is that it appears to be all plastic, which is a bit surprising. I would probably never break it, but it seems to me somebody using this all the time with their feet would do some damage to it. Even the Cube Baby is all metal. What experiences have some of you had with it long term?

      @@thepedalpicassos no lie, I'm still using the Zoom PS02 that I bought used 22 years ago. Out of all my gear, I still use it regularly for practice and hashing out ideas. It has multi effects are built in and so is the drum machine. It still beats the piss out of the Boss BR80. The Boss Cosm is shit. Hate how it sounds and the oodles of menus to dial in anything decent.
      PS02 is easy to edit on the fly. I got the G1 Four (didn't want the expression pedal) so I can copy my presets over from the PS02. It seems that the G1 Four and X is similar to that device.

    This looks good for use in studio or for practice, but for playing a gig where you want to use your feet, it looks like it falls short. I need a replacement for my ME-70, and while I'm not a fan of the stacked types of sounds (meaning you can only use one effect at a time per stack), I do like the ability to start and stop each stack with my foot, as well as add and subtract stacks.

    I just purchased this exact unit. Question: How would you recommend to set the controls (treble, mids, bass) of the amplifier you're going through to serve as a baseline audio starting point that you'd then further tweak with the G1X Four? If the treble, mids, and bass (1 - 10 scale on each knob) are set to 5 on each, would that be the way to set those so that you'd have equal amounts of cut or boost (- or +) for each range? Or, would you first set those amp controls with the guitar going straight through it (bypassing the pedal) to be a good audio mix to one's ears, first?

    • @thepedalpicassos
      @thepedalpicassos  День назад

      I would eq your amp with the pedal bypassed, as you say, to be a good mix with your ears.

    Great video.
    I’ve had this for a few years. Just bought the Boss Katana Artist but haven’t tried connecting it yet…I saw your Boss amp on your right. I’m assuming I just keep the Boss set to “Acoustic” as a bypass on the amp effects?

    • @thepedalpicassos

      Hi mate. Line in on the Katana will give you the power amp only. You can then see how the G1X compares to everything available in the Katana.

    This may be a dumb question but I have been out of the game for a while. How much better is the g1 4 than the old zoom 505s?

    • @thepedalpicassos

      No dumb questions here mate! Digital processing has continued to improve, so the G1Four is sonically better, particularly in relation to amp simulations and high gain settings. Reverb algorithms will be noticeably better too.

    Lots of comments but thought I'd ask again even if redundant. Most gear sounds better on RUclips than live and in person. So I'll rely more on your or someone else personal experience. For the price it's hard to believe the effects are this good. I was told by a Sweetwater rep when looking into this that a headrush MX5 or another modeling pedal was be 'far' better. Do you believe the quality of tone and the other effect are quality not just 'good for the money'? Thanks either way.

    • @thepedalpicassos
      @thepedalpicassos  Год назад +2

      G’day mate. As the owner of tube amps (some I’ve built myself), a HeadRush Gigboard, heaps of pedals, I consider myself no gear snob. Last gig I put together a board to suit acoustic and electric. I had a Zoom MS50G for some eq and reverb for acoustic and had a Joyo American as my electric amp sim. That pedal is $65. We are lucky to live in an age where we are spoiled for choice. The G1X Four is value for money. Spend another $1000 and sure, you might get nicer sounds, but 90% of your audience won’t know. Cheers!

    My bigest gripe is the quality of IR.
    The 40$ Cuvave sound way better, the valeton too.
    But I realy like the interface of the zoom, the controls the options, etc. I think that Zoom should keep at it is and add better IR, better sound quality. Maybe make one with 7 effects instead of the anemic 5 where you can use 4 just for cab, amp and noise gate and reverb leaving just one for an effect you might need.
    Then add an extra pedal with swith for each effect and switching mode and they would have a huge winner.
    Disrupt yourself or get disrupted by others.
