I never realized he had that many points or games. Over 1000 games is an achievement for anyone in that league and over 500 points too puts him as a pretty reliable player scoring every other game.
I kinda feel bad for the guy, I wonder if at any point he told his agent to get him a no movement clause in his contract :P.
He was always just good enough/ had low enough value that every team wanted him for a playoff run, but he was never good enough to land a long term contract with any kind of NMC. It was actually incredible watching deadline day coverage and almost every single year seeing him moved.
I'm sure his real estate agent miss him.
This reminds me of the Ken Brett Miller Lite commercial back in the '80s. He played for so many baseball teams he couldn't remember the city of the bar he was in.
Sean Pronger wrote a good book about his career as a journeyman in the NHL that you might enjoy. In fact, I think he titled it “Journeyman.” I might have to reread it myself. It’s kinda neat too because he touches on his days in the East Coast League, and I remember him playing in Knoxville, but in those days it was really rare for a guy from that league to make it.
Bryan Smolinski I remember also as a journey man. Especially later in his career. 4 teams in his last 4 years in the NHL and was a solid depth player to have. Vanek is getting up there too and may shuffle between another team or two.
The two weeks in 1998 when Daigle and Sillinger were Lemieux and Jagr when Lindros got injured LOL.
The Josh McCown of the NHL.
Isles fan here, Sillinger was my favourite player as a kid
Is was at his 1000th game at the coliseum
Nicholas Anderson nice, dont you miss that old barn
Now his son Cole is a potential top 5 pick in 2021. Absolutely lighting it up as a rookie for Medicine Hat in the WHL.
How about a journeyman vid on Nello Ferrara?
His absolute dedication to the game was incredible.
Olli Jokinen should get a video. I think he played for 10 teams or something like that. Every time I saw him play he seemed to wearing a different jersey. Also he spent some time in Europe.
Olli Jokinen has one sad statistic.
Regular season games: 1,231
Playoff games: 6
That's heartbreaking. Talk about always being with the wrong team at the wrong time.
THG, it is these small inserts which add some lightness to it are great. [ - He´s like: " all right, trade deadline is coming up, I am just not gonna answer my phone... ... damn it" - ] LOL
Loved this guy when I was a kid
A true nomad of the NHL and a player weirdly enough I don't think I will ever forget.
To be able to play 1000+ games and have 500+ points while never being settled and bouncing around different coaches and systems is very impressive, great career
one of my favorites...
Loyal man
Also was drafted in the infamous 89 NHL draft. An island of misfit toys. Was drafted 11th overall by the Wings who also drafted Lidstrom, Fedorov and Konstantinov in the same draft. Bure also drafted by Canucks.
Don't forget Brent Ashton who played for 9 teams.
Lee Stempniak is today's Mike Sillinger.
Brassards PTO offer from the Sens brought me here. Quite the career for Sillinger!
Most loyal player in NHL history
I know his son because I've played against him, hell of a player
Just some minor clarification, that was Renberg's second stint with the Flyers, Legion of Doom was born in his first stint
Shannon can you do a video about your favorite names in NHL history? Concerning you really love hockey names and me as well, so I wonder which players you choose :)
12 forwards
7 defensemen if 6 is one less :P
And 2 or 3 goalies?
Cheers!
Do one on Jagr, 8 teams and he still wants to come back next year.
I feel like this is why players ask for no trade clauses haha
Derick Brassard might just break Sillinger's record of twelve teams.
Derick Brassard has played for ten NHL teams now and he's not done yet. He's been switching teams a lot last couple seasons.
And he's only 34.
Do one on lee stempniak I know he’s still playing but he’s been on a ton of teams
Lee Stempniak is close ish!
Just two teams away
Derek Roy and Spacek could never find a home.
I really hope Jussi Jokinen does get to a 1000 games without having to go to 12 teams haha
I LOVE SILLY!!!
Can you do a video on the oilers signing three new assistant coaches?
If anyone is close to beat the record it’s Thomas Vanek. He’s already at 8
Ray Whitney and Slava Kozlov for THG Hall of Fame!
Jussi Jokinen is getting up there:D
Dennis Bonvie played for 14 teams between the AHL and NHL.
Shannon nobody has more jerseys than you.
His son was drafted 12th overall by Blue Jackets
His son is in this upcoming draft
Like you when he played for the Canucks, I also liked Mike Sillinger because he wasn't Brent Johnson.
Check out Ron Aubrey's HDB. 23 teams!
Dominic Moore was also a journeyman
No mantion of Brett Ashton
You need to do Jagr too
Correct me, but hasnt Dominic Moore played for a million diffrent teams?
10 teams in total so far. Rangers, Penguins, Leafs, Wild, Sabres, Bruins, Lightning, Sharks & Panthers..... EDIT: Forgot the Habs!
The NHL’s version of Kenny Lofton
Next do the nine team career dean mcammnd
It seems like his numbers got better when the dead puck era was done.
Jagr is kinda close though no?
Retire his number for all 12 teams
Anyone here after the Anthony Duclair video?
Yep, watching the whole journeyman playlist right now
He was a late bloomer
☺
This is the type of guy to get traded as a coach.
