- Trying out the JP2C in the Room. The series where I try and blend microphones to a point where it's a good representation of how a rig sounds like while being in the room. Obviously tone is subjective so even though I think it sounds like this in the room, doesn't mean that it's what you would enjoy.

The JP-2c is my favorite MESA amp! That sucker CHUGS!

Yeah it's like car paint, metallic base coat with a glossy clear coat. Bit lumpy though.

"In the room" is good because that is how people really hear things.
Except he mixes a bassy gritty proximity mic recording and a room mic recording which is too hissy and quite far away, end result is quite a dark tone. I don't think it's the same as in front of the speaker the room...
Not really since it's recorded with mic.
Since you "mic it up" with binaural and compressing due to volume biological setup I'm pretty sure you should do more to mimic the sound in the room (and to me it's never the same to if somebody just plays on the same EQ and my guitar, the right ear is different to the left cause it's f*cked up a bit). It's complicated ))
I can see the reflection of my empty future on that shiny guitar!!
It's an amazing amp, I'm going on 2 years with mine and I still love it everyday.

I want a Mesa Boogie rig BAD! The tone on that second channel was pure molten METAL. That djent chugged like an iron horse. Ola, if you ever throw this rig out, I will catch it before it hits the ground! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mesa amps weren’t available online for DECADES because Randall thought buying an amp you hadn’t heard was dumb.

Dude you have become my favorite youtuber and I dont even listen to that much metal anymore (except for the occasional spin of Chaos AD, Reign in Blood and Ride The Lightning). Your show is just enjoyable and your humor is on point. Well done man! You deserve to be one of the RUclips greats in my opinion (I may be a bit biased as a guitar player).

I really like that amp. I tried one at Sweetwater. It was even more expensive, because it some exotic wood panel. The dual EQ was really impressive. Then I discovered a Mesa Nomad100 which was more my price range. I use an Empress ParaEQ as a Global EQ in the FX loop and the Mesa's EQ as a lead boost. I like how the JP2C has midi and all those special modes. I have been using 12ay7 preamp tubes in V1 and V2 for awhile. It sounds great. I am going to order the Mesa 12ax7a tubes in the future to see how it sounds.

I think it's a good thing. Shows how versatile this amp can be. Everybody knows it can play dream theater, otherwise John wouldn't use it himself lol.

Would be cool if you made an IR of your room so you can always have your room with you :P
Sound engineers for Cinema did this in the past in an attempt at copying reverbs of different places using IRs. Unfortunately, it never sounded as realistic on any media as intended, so the trend ended as quick as it appeared
@@Sadix99 Yeah but the technology wasn't there yet. The problem with making an IR reverb is that the placement of the microphone is key and if you are using only one instance at the same time it would sound bad. Now we have the technology to create "3D" IRs and surround systems. That system requires a lot of extra work so i'm not surprised that no one bothers to do it.

There should be a OE M6. I'd love to hear the JP2C through EV 12L (300watt Proline), or the 200 watt versions. What a classic sound, it really takes me back.

the mark 2 c++ is hands down my favorite amplifier. The JP variant is just as good imo, I wish it didn't cost the same as a new car though, hot damn it's expensive.
I haven’t even seen them stocked anywhere since last year. Hopefully it isn’t because Gibson is moving manufacturing to China or something boneheaded like that.
I've decided I need one. NEED. My bank account will have to get over it.
Ola, I have several Boogies as well, but recently got a Mark V 35 combo and it's my new favorite Boogie! Run into my smaller size 2x12 Stiletto cab with vintage 30's and it's awesome!
Does the V:35 compare to the much more expensive JP2C?
@@PK22-b7v I've never tried the JP2C so not sure. I can only assume it's similar, but big difference between 35 and 90 watts on the power side. 4 power tubes on the V 35 makes it sound bigger than it is though.

I prefer the second channel for rhythm...go figure...that because it is the rhythm channel (red is always lead on MEsa's )
