Well done Joe solid effort definitely a strong way to end the season. Maybe some videos around club 10ks or local winter league road running/cross country races in the off season would be good to see
Joe, Lionel and Trevor Foley seemed to put a focus on their swimming in the off season. I’d like to see more content on your swimming and see some big gains over winter
@@jonhughes3905 can’t really film at the pool due to members of the public and kids which is why we don’t do much there. Plus the footage is a bit boring.
Do more videos about how the race was won. You did that on the Olympics and it was so good. Also do, how you plan a whole week of training and execute it with a focus
Well done Jo. Ive been in triathlon since 1985 and what I have learned and what you explain here is that you need to be flexible. Swim cancelled have a plan 'B'. Mechanical during the race - practice all that during the winter etc. I despair watching Pro's at the side of the road who can't change a tyre! Onward and upward will be following you in 2025.
Would be great to get some more amateurs involved like the weighted vest challenge you did before! I live locally and would love to join in with something similar!
Nice one, Joe, it'll be awesome seeing you back at Ironman nz! You're a massive crowd favorite here and my favorite none NZ pro. I think there will be increased public interest in Ironman NZ next year following the 70.3 world champs in Taupo, and you won't have to worry about Cam Brown next year, but I will now that he's an age grouper 😮. Good luck for 2025, see you on course in Taupo!
I'd like to see more about where you live (Norich?). Not much content but maybe one video about your town, places you go, things you like there / don't like there both for overall living and regards to tri training.
Joe you're absolutely correct on the mental. My training partner 10yrs younger and I were in that race. And my main goal was to beat him. He's the better runner I'm the better cyclists. He started about 4mins ahead of me. I caught him and put in the distance..Before the hills I started cramping and I was totally done, well he caught me 3 miles within the finish line. I was able to match his pace, he and I(Tricredibles) ran in together. "All in your head"
Would be quite interested to see how you go about planning training - for example, you say you are starting the build on Monday - how far in advance do you plan? how much does how the body feels each day factor in etc?
@@joeskipper91 yep, might make an interesting video - even going into what has/hasn’t worked in the past like you have mentioned in other videos and how that factors into build for NZ 🐶👍
They should make it a duathlon if the swim gets cancelled, even just a 5-10km run to break the field up. At least then it’s a proper head to head race. Anyway well done Joe 💪
JYD versus series where you take on single discipline athletes but in a handicapped format at their sport or they do a triathlon and have a time on you. Maybe some collaborations with other pros e.g. doing their sessions for a day. Or special guests on for a bit of a suffer, don't have to be triathletes. Could also do some competitions to have fans join you for the day, an actual "day in the life of" video. Lastly maybe some sports science stuff, breakdown the data and what physiological effects the sessions are designed to do. Get your nutrition partners involved.
Video Idea: Throw a dart at a map of the UK and bike there (stolen from Cam Jeffers). Bonus if you can incorporate swim and run into the journey :) Another idea: Racing your friends where they ride a TT bike and you ride a mountain bike. Doesn't have to be the same route but race from A to B, get creative with the routing
@@eitanshushu I’m not going to tackle it. Racing is to cramped, to much travelling and I don’t want to race 70.3s plus the fact that they are massive draft fests. It’s not for me.
@@joeskipper91 I mean, for most pros is it even cost effective to chase IM series points? It seems to indenture pros into spending lots of money for the most part. What is the cut off to even break even money-wise? I'd bet 85% of pros are not breaking even. Am I way off? You could do a rant video about that... IM branding always searching for ways to monetize age groupers, er, I mean 'grow interest' without pumping up pro prize money to make points chasing feasible. In a sense the IM series is like ITU forcing Oly racers to chase rankings points traveling around the world. Both money leeches with little reward for most.
@@End_Illegal_Apartheid_israhelli think you have hit the nail on the head and I’ve spoken to a few pros regarding this as well. When you break the numbers down it doesn’t really make sense financially. Also the prize money at each individual event is the same so you can race 3 times as many people, finish 4-10th in an ironman and actually loose money but hey you did get some points! 🤷🏼♂️
@@joeskipper91 effing joke... glad you are not getting suckered into the "points race" money pit branding. IM chasing PTO's template without the $$$. Do they even comp hotels / provide homestays? If they did, at least did you'd just be out air fare...
Joe great race mate! What about some winter videos about challenges like the Techno’s 1k. Or it would be nice to see your pro series plans for 2025 and how do you see your career develop as a triathlete in years to come. PS: any M5 content? 😀 Enjoy the recovery and the build up to NZ

People loved it when you got on the IM commentary mic at zell-am-see. The live chat was going nuts for your level and depth of knowledge regarding strategy. Commentary was like black and white, then you were like color tv. Other sporting stuff you do too. That 12 hour tt effort video was epically good.
As an amateur, what I'd love to see is a video where you comment on a fast TT position. We can watch what guys are doing, but it'd be cool if you show us what you're thinking and feeling when you're in position. How stretched do you feel, where are you aiming your head, ecc. The wind tunnel videos of people are cool, but most of us have limited ability to switch our gear. We can all make changes to our technique though
10k calorie challenge, squat Max attempt, try some xc skiing in the winter? Cycle Everest elevation meters challenge (or run). Idk there is endless possibilities. Try to Walk a marathon the fastest you can? Try rockclimbing
You should do random colab with other athletes like sweat elite and Alex Dowsets content. Not just training with triathletes but also runners, swimmers and bikers CrossFit etc . People probably will enjoy seeing you beast yourself
Would definitely be up for this and would do more of that when i retire i think as it’s so hard to do that kind of thing atm while still focusing on tri and my own training.
Maybe I'm biased, but i like the running content Joe. Cinder track is good for filming reps as it's often quiet and yoy can get the drone up. Or maybe you're thinking, been there done that 😂
3:38 - “a little bit short”? I haven’t seen a strava file from anyone in the race that had the bike course over 173km. That’s a lot short. Vittoria was bang on 180 so Kallin’s 4:54 was legit (allowing for the unintentional lead bike motorpacing) but a 4:50 ‘only’ equates to about 4:00 - which would be slower than the time that Leon Chavalier put down at Cozemul in last year’s TT Ironman duathlon.
