I've never understood the hate for this movie. Is it a masterpiece like the original? No way. Is it a perfectly decent, entertaining 90s horror flick? Yes. In my opinion, it's good. I like Rachel and Jesse, I like that Sue came back, the story is pretty good, and the ending when Rachel finally flips out is awesome. Very underrated, unfairly hated movie.

The movie was just constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. They acknowledge it as a tragic love story and for the 20th anniversary of the film Scream Factory Blu-Ray released a Collector's Edition as it's finally getting the recognition and credibility it deserves as critics and audiences are fully understanding and comprehending the interpretation of the story.😍👍💯😎

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures and it narrowly escaped being shelved and locked away in a vault, as it was theatrically released only 3 weeks before the tragic Columbine High School shooting.

I agree, originally The Rage:Carrie 2 was going to be released theatrically in theaters on October 16,1998 during the Halloween season but was pushed back to March 12,1999. If production on The Rage: Carrie 2 finished any later most likely it would be shelved and not released until further notice.

One of the movies that were delayed was O a modern day high school adaptation of Othello which starred Mekhi Phifer, Julia Stiles and Josh Hartnett which wrapped up filming on April 13,1999 and was originally going to be released by its original distributor Dimension Films on October 17,1999 but it got delayed twice and didn’t get released until August 31,2001 when Miramax gave the rights to Lionsgate. Two episodes from the 3rd Season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were pulled by The WB from its original scheduled Airdate one of the episodes “Earshot” aired on September 21,1999 while the season finale “Graduation Day Part 2” aired July 13,1999. Most likely if production finished later The Rage:Carrie 2 would have been shelved and released at a later time but thank goodness filming wrapped in July 1998.
Finally! Someone else who gets this film. I actually enjoyed Carrie 2: The Rage. I totally bought into the Romeo & Juliet love story and the backstory about Rachel's biological parents. The way Sue was killed was brutal and unceremonious.

I love The Rage:Carrie 2 as much as I love the 1976 Carrie adaptation. The movie was originally a standalone movie named The Curse and was going to began production in 1996 with Emily Bergl as the lead role but it never happened, fast forward to February 1998 it was rewritten as a sequel to the 1976 Carrie adaptation. Filming of The Rage:Carrie 2 under its working title Carrie 2: Say You’re Sorry was filmed on location in the area of Charlotte,North Carolina between April 25,1998-July 1998, two weeks after filming began the original director Robert Mandel quit due to creative differences and Katt Shea was brought in as director which meant two weeks worth of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea later revealed in a 2019 interview regarding The Rage:Carrie 2 that Robert Mandel was actually fired two weeks after filming began and that she was brought in to salvage something of a mess rather than cancel production altogether. The bad part about The Rage: Carrie 2 was Sue Snell getting killed off trying to prevent history from repeating itself, but I did enjoy the movie.

Rachel Blanchard playing the lead mean girl is a win, in my opinion. At the time, she was working on the "Clueless" TV series, where she played the main character, sweet kind-hearted Cher. It blew my mind to see her portray the exact opposite type of character so well.

Also Charlotte Ayanna who was in The Rage: Carrie 2 she was in Jawbreaker and her character Liz Purr died in the opening due to a prank gone wrong, the difference is that in Jawbreaker Liz Purr was a kind sweet hearted popular girl while in The Rage: Carrie 2 Tracy Campbell was the bitchy mean popular girl.

Interesting how they never tore down what was left of the prom room from 1976. You would think the town wouldn't want to be reminded of that tragedy or at the very least they would have put a memorial where the prom room once stood.
In the 1974 Novel Carrie White not only killed some people at the prom she destroyed the whole town, and after the tragedy basically Chamberlain became a ghost town most of the people who survived left the town.

It also addresses the issues of how difficult it is to be a young woman today and it shows severe or extreme consequences and circumstances of your actions as that was Katt Shea purpose and interpretation of the story which works perfectly for the movie which made it unique and special.😍😎💯👍 Rachel Lang had a difficult, frustrating, and hard life due to her upbringing as she lost her mother to schizophrenia when she was a little girl, lives with neglectful foster parents, and is a social outcast at Bates High School but despite that she managed to be confident and bolder which I totally admire.😍😎💯👍 When her best friend Lisa Parker committed suicide after being rejected and humiliated by Eric Stark a popular yet cruel football jock as she was a victim of a "sex for points" game as they sleep with girls, dumped them, and rate them on a point value Rachel falls in deep depression and despair as her and Lisa shared a close bond as they both have matching tattoos to symbolize it.😭🥺😞 Jesse Ryan a popular jock yet genuinely nice guy expressed sympathy and remorse for Lisa's death when he asked Tracy Campbell a popular yet cruel cheerleader doesn't it bother her that Lisa "offed" herself and Tracy reacted coldy saying she wasn't "anybody" which shocked Jesse which is why he broke up with her due to her lack of empathy. On the same night Rachel's basset hound dog Walter gets into a car accident and Jesse happens to be driving on the same road notices Rachel when she uses her telekinesis to broke his car window which gained Jesse's help. Jesse takes Rachel to the veterinarian and afterwards they go to a cafe when they have a nice talk such as Jesse displaying compassion and sincerity for Rachel as she is grieving Lisa's death. The more Jesse and Rachel spend time together they both fall in love with each other despite their social status and reputation at Bates High School. For once in her life Rachel finally got a chance of happiness and as a audience I was so happy for her 😍 but unfortunately it backfired horribly as she became a target by the football team lead by Eric's friend Mark Bing a popular yet cold hearted jock that plot's to humiliate her for her involvement in the investigation of the "sex for points" game despite that's it's covered up by the district attorney because the player's families have political influence.😭🥺😞 Everytime when I watch the party scene my heart aches for Rachel because not only was it humiliating it was also sad because Rachel was under the impression that she finally found social acceptance and happinesses from other individual's but unfortunately the bullies show their true blue faces and intentions.😭🥺😞 The prank work successfully but it takes a bloody and violent turn as Rachel uses her telekinesis to exact revenge. Wacthing Rachel getting her revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they we're very cruel and heartless due to them constructed a "sex for points" game, mocked and made fun of suicide which is a serious issue, and they recorded a intimate moment of a student and exposed it to everybody at a party. 😏😈 When Rachel said " I don't have anyone" I felt that in my heart as she lost everything she loves and she never felt desirable, appreciated, and loved.😭🥺😞 The ending was bittersweet due Rachel getting her revenge but at the same time she died knowing that Jesse truly and dearly loved her for who she was. My heart aches for Rachel and Jesse as they make such a cute couple as they are both down to earth and genuine as I really wanted them to be together forever as the movie would have ended on a triumphant note.😍😎👍💯😭🥺😞
I had a buddy of mine in film school who was a PA on the Rage Carrie 2. Emily Bergl did a fine job and the prom scene was fun to watch, but the rest is felt kind of teen drama cheesy.

Emily Bergl did an amazing job, this was her first film as well as her first time on camera. Emily Bergl at the time was doing plays when she was doing The Rage: Carrie 2, shortly after the movie was released she turned down offers In horror movies due to the fact that she would be typecast as a scream queen.

@@dejaalston8672I was disappointed with the 2013 Carrie adaptation, but I love the 2002 Carrie adaptation because it stayed faithful to the 1974 novel and the fact that Carrie White survived when Sue revived her and drove Carrie to Florida. The 2002 made for TV Carrie adaptation served as a backdoor pilot for a Carrie TV Series but the series never happened due to low ratings. The Rage:Carrie 2 was my favorite sequel

I was a senior in high school when The Rage came out and I was actually reading Carrie when I heard about it. I love the movie and my daughter is now reading Carrie and we're planning to watch both movies back to back.

I saw this in the theater. It felt like an after school PSA that turns into a horror movie. Also, they gave Sue snell such a quick and undignified death that it loses points for that also

This is one of those cases where the film didn't even come to the theater in my town, partly due to it only having two screens at the time. However, I rented it as soon as it came out on video and absolutely loved it. I never actually purchased it, but now I wish that I would have.

It also addresses the issues of how difficult it is to be a young woman today and it shows severe or extreme consequences and circumstances of your actions as that was Katt Shea purpose and interpretation of the story which works perfectly for the movie which made it unique and special.😍😎💯👍 Rachel Lang had a difficult, frustrating, and hard life due to her upbringing as she lost her mother to schizophrenia when she was a little girl, lives with neglectful foster parents, and is a social outcast at Bates High School but despite that she managed to be confident and bolder which I totally admire. 😍😎💯👍 When her best friend Lisa Parker committed suicide after being rejected and humiliated by Eric Stark a popular yet cruel football jock as she was a victim of a "sex for points" game as they sleep with girls, dumped them, and rate them on a point value Rachel falls in deep depression and despair as her and Lisa shared a close bond as they both have matching tattoos to symbolize it.😭🥺😞 Jesse Ryan a popular jock yet genuinely nice guy expressed sympathy and remorse for Lisa's death when he asked Tracy Campbell a popular yet cruel cheerleader doesn't it bother her that Lisa "offed" herself and Tracy reacted coldy saying she wasn't "anybody" which shocked Jesse which is why he broke up with her due to her lack of empathy. On the same night Rachel's basset hound dog Walter gets into a car accident and Jesse happens to be driving on the same road notices Rachel when she uses her telekinesis to broke his car window which gained Jesse's help. Jesse takes Rachel to the veterinarian and afterwards they go a cafe when they have a nice talk such Jesse displaying compassion and sincerity for Rachel as she is grieving Lisa's death. The more Jesse and Rachel spend time together they both fall in love with each other despite their social status and reputation at Bates High School. For once in her life Rachel finally got a chance of happiness and as a audience I was so happy for her 😍 but unfortunately it backfired horribly as she became a target by the football team lead by Eric's friend Mark Bing a popular yet cold hearted jock that plot's to humiliate her for her involvement in the investigation of the "sex for points" game despite that's it's covered up by the district attorney because the player's families have political influence.😭🥺😞 Everytime when I watch the party scene my heart aches for Rachel because not only was it humiliating it was also sad because Rachel was under the impression that she finally found social acceptance and happinesses from other individual's but unfortunately the bullies show their true blue faces and intentions.😭🥺😞 The prank work successfully but it takes a bloody and violent turn as Rachel uses her telekinesis to exact revenge. Wacthing Rachel getting her revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they we're very cruel and heartless due to them constructed a "sex for points" game, mocked and made fun suicide which is a serious issue, and they recorded a intimate moment of a student and exposed it to everybody at a party.😏😈 When Rachel said " I don't have anyone" I felt that in my heart as she lost everything she loves and she never felt desirable, appreciated, and loved. 😭🥺😞 The ending was bittersweet due to Rachel getting her revenge but at the same time she died knowing that Jesse truly and dearly loved her for who she was. My heart aches for Rachel and Jesse as they make such a cute couple as they are both down to earth and genuine as I really wanted them to be together forever as the movie would have ended on a triumphant note. 😍👍💯😎😭🥺😞

Yay, I'm glad you guys covered this one and actually did it fairly! It's nice to see a positive critique of this for a change. The previous video done for comedy just wasn't up to par, that dude didn't even watch the movie honestly from how his critiques were, and besides if he did it didn't come through well. He offered the same attack points everyone's used since 1999 but do they hold water? Not really. I watched that movie expecting it to be horrendously bad, but it ended up being quite good and surprising. I didn't expect it to win me over like it did but it was one of the most shocking first watches I ever had. I am un-ashamed to say this but I love this movie. It's a great sequel and honestly one of the better movies of it's kind for that era. Is it perfect, heck no, but it's way better than it's given credit for. A lot of people who hate on it don't get why it works, a lot of them expected it to be shot for shot like the original and it wasn't and I respect it so much for that. At it's core it's a human tragedy way more than a horror flick and I think that's where the movie excels like it does. It had the courage to make Rachel a more complex character who has a true backstory and tragedy all around her and it works so much better for it. It's one of the most tragic human interest stories I've seen. Bergel was perfect for the role and carried so well. The supporting cast minus a few over-actors was honestly well cast too. Brad from Home Improvement was beyond perfect for the main baddie, and the rest of the dudes were awful. The girls were great too. They were great eye candy but they nailed the stuck up bitty behavior so much better than I expected them too. The villains in this are so sociopathic it's honestly amazing to watch in that dark way.. you can sense their demise deservingly coming and it helps to make for the 3rd act to be so amazing. Unlike the original there is no character they deserves any sympathy they all deserve what happens to them. The real ace in the hole is Jason London as Jesse, they couldn't have cast anyone more perfect for that spot. He is amazing in this and plays it so real and natural. He coulda been a cliched goody too shoes but he's not, he's honestly quite loveable as Jesse. I played Football and I've experienced both sides of the spectrum in terms of teammates had some jerks like the other dudes in the movie (well not that messed up but jerks none the less,) but I had a best friend who I played with who just was like Jesse and I dug that. Their romance is honestly the heart and soul of the movie.. they work in such a grounded and humanistic way it honestly surprised the hell out of me. They worked well together and i wanted them to win so badly. The Romeo and Juliet parallel didn't bother me that much honestly because it's not really that, there's some comparisons but they are their own thing. London really shines in the final act, the last 10 minutes are some of his best acting of his career. That ending is heartbreaking still I just hated they ruined it with that crap digital effect. Shoulda just left it more simpler it woulda worked better. Glad to see this one is growing in fans it deserves all the praise it gets.

Critics & many others of the time may have misunderstood & hated this flick, but my generation saw it for the brilliant horror classic that it is. I'm shocked as to why it's still not a cult film. Maybe one of these days, it finally can be. Thanks for explaining this film's connection to the original Carrie. I was always a bit puzzled by how it was connected to the first. This is definitely a misunderstood classic!

The Rage: Carrie 2 originally was a standalone film called The Curse and was meant to go into production in 1996 with Emily Bergl as lead but it never happened, then fast forward February 13,1998 that’s when it became Carrie 2. Filming took place mostly in the area of Charlotte, North Carolina between April 25,1998-July 1998 under the name Carrie 2:Say You’re Sorry, two weeks into filming the original director Robert Mandel supposedly quit due to creative differences and Katt Shea took over as director which meant two weeks worth of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea later revealed in a 2019 interview regarding The Rage: Carrie 2 that Robert Mandel was fired and MGM brought her in to salvage something of a mess rather than cancel production. One of the scenes filmed by Robert Mandel was when Eric and his father Lou was being interviewed by Sherrif Kelton and Deputy District Attorney Karen who was originally played by the late Teddi Siddall, when Katt Shea took over as director the scene was refilmed with Shea taking over the role as Deputy District Attorney Karen. Katt Shea later called Siddall to apologize for replacing her.

I literally graduated in 99, no H.S. didn't go off the rails to the degree the bullies took it to here. Good god that is a collection of some of the worst in that entire year throughout the country lol
That's why I couldn't get into this movie. All the characters where mustache torling villains. The original Carry had a group of bad kids and a lot of innocents. Just like any other high school. My high school had drama at the worst a girl threw a molotov cocktail into the wrong car. But it wasn't a massacre.

I only saw this movie once years and years ago, I never knew the guys were based on actual IRL people. So sick to hear the only person who was punished from the IRL group was lewd towards a ten year old 🤢 Just goes to show that real life is honestly worse than the movies tbh.

A former co-worker of mine had Emily Bergl in their wedding party. Said Emily was totally fat shamed on the set by the producers. Also said Amy Irving was completely insane. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience for everyone involved (sarcasm dialed up to 11.)
I know that shouldn't surprise me, and yet it does. Emily Bergl looks like a size 0-2 at the absolute most in this film. Also, the irony of the star of an anti-bullying movie essentially being bullied by the producers of that movie certainly isn't lost on me.

Wow, that’s crazy that Emily Bergl was mistreated on the set. If I recall that one of the original director Robert Mandel was fired two weeks after filming began and Katt Shea was brought in as director which meant two weeks worth of footage to be reshot, I do know that Emily wasn’t happy with the changes to the original script but she was happy to do a film that spoke out about rape culture when she talked about The Rage: Carrie 2 in a post of Instagram. This was her film debut as well as her first time on camera since she was a stage actress at the time.
I never gave this a chance back in the day but I must admit, I might go for it. There looks like some really nice cinematography here, better than than a lot of its contemporaries of the time (scream/I know../faculty/urban legend, etc)
I've loved this movie since it came out. It's very much a product of the 90s, just as the original was in the 70s. But the story is timeless, revenge by someone who you shouldn't have picked on. My ONLY gripe is when they go to the old ruins of the High School that Carrie burned down. No remnants would still be there after a 20 year disaster. I loved everything else about it. Especially the thorn tattoos. Very 90s

I really like this movie. It was definitely inspired by scream and Halloween H20 but I loved how they did something different instead of just totally retreading the first movie. Plus, Emily Bergl gave an amazing performance. This movie is so underrated and a 90’s horror classic.
I used to own this on DVD. I must say, it was good in its own way, but had it remained its own film and not have anything to do with the CARRIE mythos whatsoever, it would've been a lot better than most people would give it credit for.

I've only watched this movie once, and I remember liking it, but I couldn't handle that one scene of the crossbow hitting the guy, so I never watched it again.
Also this movie came out right before The Columbine massacre. So a lot of Horror or horror comedies didn't do well. I'm surprised that wasn't put into the video
The Rage: Carrie 2 almost got shelved and locked away in a vault due to the fact that it was released on March 12,1999 a month before The Columbine High School Shooting occurred on April 20,1999 as confirmed by MGM. Had production on The Rage: Carrie 2 finished any later it would most likely be shelved and not released out of respect for the victims families and survivors of Columbine.

The plot involving the high school jocks who use a point system to rate their sexual conquests is inspired from a real-life 1993 sex scandal involving a group known as the Spur Posse. The film went into production in 1998 under the title Carrie 2: Say You're Sorry.
That is true, the main plot of The Rage: Carrie 2 where the football players had sex with most of the girls at school and rate their scores was partially based off the Spur Posse scandal. Filming of The Rage: Carrie 2 was between April 25,1998-July 1998, the original director Robert Mandel was fired two weeks after filming began so Katt Shea took over as director which meant two weeks of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea was hesitant at first but she was told that everyone would be fired and that the film would be shelved if she didn’t.
At least they didnt try pretending an obviously beautiful woman is somehow ostracized as ugly by her peers in high school. They acknowledged their heroine is a pretty girl. It might have done better without the reference to "Carrie" at all. Like just was ita own thing. I feel like i would have been more interested in seeing that back then.
In my opinion Rachel is very pretty. 😍💯👍😎 She could have been considered cool or popular but unfortunately due to her upbringing and life she was just misunderstood which is absolutely and positivity heartbreaking and sad as my heart aches for Rachel.😞😭🥺
Carrie 2 was a lot of fun to see in theaters. I was in high school at the time and the idea of "modern" Carrie killing people with CDs was irresistable. The new protagonist was played very well and I enjoyed it.

It is one of Katt Shea best and finest work in cinema as it addresses how difficult it is to be a young woman today. It is such a true blue modern gem. When it was first released it received negative reviews which totally confused me but despite that I hold it very close to my heart as I feel it was compared unfavorably to the original rather than taken it's own merit and I even preferring it to the original. I think the problem was that after the success of Scream in the later 90's, a lot of horror content got released and packaged as teen slasher type films to ride the wave of popularity. This film got caught in the frenzy. I still dont understand why they decided to market it so blatantly as a Carrie sequel. It is more like a retelling of the same story but in a later time period. Too similar to the original premise with nothing new and interesting to say.

Rachel Lang wasn't playing no games.😏😈😅😰😱 Wacthing Rachel getting her revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they we're very cruel and heartless due to them constructed a "sex for points" game, mocked and made fun of suicide which is a serious issue, and they recorded a intimate moment of a student and exposed it to everybody at a party.😏😈
I actually really liked this movie and watched it several times. I still remember the song that was playing at the party just before all hell broke loose.
If anyone wants this on blu ray I highly recommend the 88 films BR instead of the Scream Factory one. You do need a region free player, but 88 films did this movie a lot more justice than SF did. The deleted scenes for instance are watchable this time without the directors commentary, and honestly the transfer looks a lot better. I'm still hoping for a better US release though. SF was beyond stupid for forcing it on a double pack and they were quite lazy with the features, it deserved better.

Me personally I thought the movie was very unnecessary but it did have some themes that could've been explored in a horror movie or in a drama using the Carrie backdrop just was very unnecessary to me.

As a fan of the original, I expected to hate the sequel, but I didn't. The only sin it committed was having flimsy ties between Rachel and Carrie. I've always thought it would've been better received if it had stood on its own.

I'm not a fan of horror movies but I enjoyed this one. I like how in this one it was an actual romance instead of charity. The relationship was real sweet. I hate their wasn't an happy ending for them but it makes sense

The movie would have been way, way, way better if Sue had been able to successfully work with Carrie's sister to avert disaster and help Rachel cope with her powers.
I've never understood the hate for this movie. Is it a masterpiece like the original? No way. Is it a perfectly decent, entertaining 90s horror flick? Yes. In my opinion, it's good. I like Rachel and Jesse, I like that Sue came back, the story is pretty good, and the ending when Rachel finally flips out is awesome. Very underrated, unfairly hated movie.

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures and it narrowly escaped being shelved and locked away in a vault, as it was theatrically released only 3 weeks before the tragic Columbine High School shooting.

One of the movies that were delayed was O a modern day high school adaptation of Othello which starred Mekhi Phifer, Julia Stiles and Josh Hartnett which wrapped up filming on April 13,1999 and was originally going to be released by its original distributor Dimension Films on October 17,1999 but it got delayed twice and didn’t get released until August 31,2001 when Miramax gave the rights to Lionsgate. Two episodes from the 3rd Season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were pulled by The WB from its original scheduled Airdate one of the episodes “Earshot” aired on September 21,1999 while the season finale “Graduation Day Part 2” aired July 13,1999. Most likely if production finished later The Rage:Carrie 2 would have been shelved and released at a later time but thank goodness filming wrapped in July 1998.
Finally! Someone else who gets this film. I actually enjoyed Carrie 2: The Rage. I totally bought into the Romeo & Juliet love story and the backstory about Rachel's biological parents. The way Sue was killed was brutal and unceremonious.

The movie was originally a standalone movie named The Curse and was going to began production in 1996 with Emily Bergl as the lead role but it never happened, fast forward to February 1998 it was rewritten as a sequel to the 1976 Carrie adaptation. Filming of The Rage:Carrie 2 under its working title Carrie 2: Say You’re Sorry was filmed on location in the area of Charlotte,North Carolina between April 25,1998-July 1998, two weeks after filming began the original director Robert Mandel quit due to creative differences and Katt Shea was brought in as director which meant two weeks worth of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea later revealed in a 2019 interview regarding The Rage:Carrie 2 that Robert Mandel was actually fired two weeks after filming began and that she was brought in to salvage something of a mess rather than cancel production altogether. The bad part about The Rage: Carrie 2 was Sue Snell getting killed off trying to prevent history from repeating itself, but I did enjoy the movie.

Rachel Blanchard playing the lead mean girl is a win, in my opinion. At the time, she was working on the "Clueless" TV series, where she played the main character, sweet kind-hearted Cher. It blew my mind to see her portray the exact opposite type of character so well.

Two of Emily Bergl’s co stars were in other projects, mainly Rachel Blanchard who was doing Clueless and while Cher was sweet and kind hearted Monica Jones was the total opposite. Also Charlotte Ayanna who was in The Rage: Carrie 2 she was in Jawbreaker and her character Liz Purr died in the opening due to a prank gone wrong, the difference is that in Jawbreaker Liz Purr was a kind sweet hearted popular girl while in The Rage: Carrie 2 Tracy Campbell was the bitchy mean popular girl.

Prior to Mandel’s firing, Teddi Siddall originally played DA Deputy Karen but once Katt Shea took over as director she ended up taking over the role when the studio didn’t fund a reshoot so the scene where Sherrif Kelton wanted to press charges against Eric for the sex points game along with DA Deputy Karen had to be refilmed with Katt Shea. Teddi Siddall was a friend of Katt Shea who did extensive work in Shea’s first film Stripped to Kill (1987) and Katt called Teddi to apologize for replacing her.
Interesting how they never tore down what was left of the prom room from 1976. You would think the town wouldn't want to be reminded of that tragedy or at the very least they would have put a memorial where the prom room once stood.
I thought that too when I saw it..."Wth, why is the ruins still there 20 yrs later??" That was the only dumb part.
In the 1974 Novel Carrie White not only killed some people at the prom she destroyed the whole town, and after the tragedy basically Chamberlain became a ghost town most of the people who survived left the town.
Sue even talks about, calling it "a twisted memorial to that night".
People should definitely give this movie another go. It is really good.
She is so believable and ruthless, you'll be cheering for her.

On the same night Rachel's basset hound dog Walter gets into a car accident and Jesse happens to be driving on the same road notices Rachel when she uses her telekinesis to broke his car window which gained Jesse's help. Jesse takes Rachel to the veterinarian and afterwards they go to a cafe when they have a nice talk such as Jesse displaying compassion and sincerity for Rachel as she is grieving Lisa's death. The more Jesse and Rachel spend time together they both fall in love with each other despite their social status and reputation at Bates High School. For once in her life Rachel finally got a chance of happiness and as a audience I was so happy for her 😍 but unfortunately it backfired horribly as she became a target by the football team lead by Eric's friend Mark Bing a popular yet cold hearted jock that plot's to humiliate her for her involvement in the investigation of the "sex for points" game despite that's it's covered up by the district attorney because the player's families have political influence.😭🥺😞 Everytime when I watch the party scene my heart aches for Rachel because not only was it humiliating it was also sad because Rachel was under the impression that she finally found social acceptance and happinesses from other individual's but unfortunately the bullies show their true blue faces and intentions.😭🥺😞 The prank work successfully but it takes a bloody and violent turn as Rachel uses her telekinesis to exact revenge. I had a buddy of mine in film school who was a PA on the Rage Carrie 2. Emily Bergl did a fine job and the prom scene was fun to watch, but the rest is felt kind of teen drama cheesy.

I agree, The Rage:Carrie 2 wasn’t exactly a box office hit when it was originally released but it also narrowly escaped being locked away in a vault due to the fact that it was released a month before The Columbine High School Shooting occurred on April 20,1999. If production on The Rage: Carrie 2 finished any later most likely it would have been shelved and not released until further notice out of respect of those who were affected by the tragedy in Littleton,Colorado but thank goodness it wasn’t shelved because filming and production was done between April 25,1998-July 1998. The Rage: Carrie 2 was originally going to be released theatrically on October 16,1998 during the Halloween season but it was delayed and released March 12,1999.
Mena Suavari had a big year in 1999, playing notable characters in "American Pie" and "American Beauty." Needless to say, she probably won't be speaking favourably of THIS film any time soon.

@@dejaalston8672I was disappointed with the 2013 Carrie adaptation, but I love the 2002 Carrie adaptation because it stayed faithful to the 1974 novel and the fact that Carrie White survived when Sue revived her and drove Carrie to Florida. The 2002 made for TV Carrie adaptation served as a backdoor pilot for a Carrie TV Series but the series never happened due to low ratings. The Rage:Carrie 2 was my favorite sequel

I was a senior in high school when The Rage came out and I was actually reading Carrie when I heard about it. I love the movie and my daughter is now reading Carrie and we're planning to watch both movies back to back.

This is one of those cases where the film didn't even come to the theater in my town, partly due to it only having two screens at the time. However, I rented it as soon as it came out on video and absolutely loved it. I never actually purchased it, but now I wish that I would have.

Yay, I'm glad you guys covered this one and actually did it fairly! It's nice to see a positive critique of this for a change. The previous video done for comedy just wasn't up to par, that dude didn't even watch the movie honestly from how his critiques were, and besides if he did it didn't come through well. He offered the same attack points everyone's used since 1999 but do they hold water? Not really. I watched that movie expecting it to be horrendously bad, but it ended up being quite good and surprising. I didn't expect it to win me over like it did but it was one of the most shocking first watches I ever had. I am un-ashamed to say this but I love this movie. It's a great sequel and honestly one of the better movies of it's kind for that era. Is it perfect, heck no, but it's way better than it's given credit for. A lot of people who hate on it don't get why it works, a lot of them expected it to be shot for shot like the original and it wasn't and I respect it so much for that. At it's core it's a human tragedy way more than a horror flick and I think that's where the movie excels like it does. It had the courage to make Rachel a more complex character who has a true backstory and tragedy all around her and it works so much better for it. It's one of the most tragic human interest stories I've seen. Bergel was perfect for the role and carried so well. The supporting cast minus a few over-actors was honestly well cast too. Brad from Home Improvement was beyond perfect for the main baddie, and the rest of the dudes were awful. The girls were great too. They were great eye candy but they nailed the stuck up bitty behavior so much better than I expected them too.
The villains in this are so sociopathic it's honestly amazing to watch in that dark way.. you can sense their demise deservingly coming and it helps to make for the 3rd act to be so amazing. Unlike the original there is no character they deserves any sympathy they all deserve what happens to them.
The real ace in the hole is Jason London as Jesse, they couldn't have cast anyone more perfect for that spot. He is amazing in this and plays it so real and natural. He coulda been a cliched goody too shoes but he's not, he's honestly quite loveable as Jesse. I played Football and I've experienced both sides of the spectrum in terms of teammates had some jerks like the other dudes in the movie (well not that messed up but jerks none the less,) but I had a best friend who I played with who just was like Jesse and I dug that. Their romance is honestly the heart and soul of the movie.. they work in such a grounded and humanistic way it honestly surprised the hell out of me. They worked well together and i wanted them to win so badly. The Romeo and Juliet parallel didn't bother me that much honestly because it's not really that, there's some comparisons but they are their own thing. London really shines in the final act, the last 10 minutes are some of his best acting of his career. That ending is heartbreaking still I just hated they ruined it with that crap digital effect. Shoulda just left it more simpler it woulda worked better.

It also addresses the issues of how difficult it is to be a young woman today and it shows severe or extreme consequences and circumstances of your actions as that was Katt Shea purpose and interpretation of the story which works perfectly for the movie which made it unique and special. 😍😎👍💯 Rachel Lang had a difficult, frustrating, and hard life due to her upbringing as she lost her mother to schizophrenia when she was a little girl, lives with neglectful foster parents, and is a social outcast at Bates High School but despite that she managed to be confident and bolder which I totally admire.😍😎👍💯 When her best friend Lisa Parker committed suicide after being rejected and humiliated by Eric Stark a popular yet cruel football jock as she was a victim of a "sex for points" game as they sleep with girls, dumped them, and rate them on a point value Rachel falls in deep depression and despair as her and Lisa shared a close bond as they both have matching tattoos to symbolize it.😭🥺😞 Jesse Ryan a popular jock yet genuinely nice guy expressed sympathy and remorse for Lisa's death when he asked Tracy Campbell a popular yet cruel cheerleader doesn't it bother her that Lisa "offed" herself and Tracy reacted coldy saying she wasn't "anybody" which shocked Jesse which is why he broke up with her due to her lack of empathy. On the same night Rachel's basset hound dog Walter gets into a car accident and Jesse happens to be driving on the same road notices Rachel when she uses her telekinesis to broke his car window which gained Jesse's help. Jesse takes Rachel to the veterinarian and afterwards they go to a cafe when they have a nice talk such as Jesse displaying compassion and sincerity for Rachel as she is grieving Lisa's death. The more Jesse and Rachel spend time together they both fall in love with each other despite their social status and reputation at Bates High School. For once in her life Rachel finally got a chance of happiness and as a audience I was so happy for her 😍 but unfortunately it backfired horribly as she became a target by the football team lead by Eric's friend Mark Bing a popular yet cold hearted jock that plot's to humiliate her for her involvement in the investigation of the "sex for points" game despite that's it's covered up by the district attorney because the player's families have political influence.😭🥺😞 Everytime when I watch the party scene my heart aches for Rachel because not only was it humiliating it was also sad because Rachel was under the impression that she finally found social acceptance and happinesses from other individual's but unfortunately the bullies show their true blue faces and intentions. 😭🥺😞 The prank work successfully but it takes a bloody and violent turn as Rachel uses her telekinesis to exact revenge. Wacthing Rachel getting her revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they we're very cruel and heartless due to them constructed a "sex for points" game, mocked and made fun suicide which is a serious issue, and they recorded a intimate moment of a student and exposed it to everybody at a party.😏😈 When Rachel said " I don't have anyone" I felt that in my heart as she lost everything she loves and she never felt desirable, appreciated, and loved.😭🥺😞 The ending was bittersweet due to Rachel getting her revenge but at the same time she died knowing that Jesse truly and dearly loved her for who she was. Critics & many others of the time may have misunderstood & hated this flick, but my generation saw it for the brilliant horror classic that it is. I'm shocked as to why it's still not a cult film. Maybe one of these days, it finally can be. Thanks for explaining this film's connection to the original Carrie. I was always a bit puzzled by how it was connected to the first. This is definitely a misunderstood classic!

The Rage: Carrie 2 originally was a standalone film called The Curse and was meant to go into production in 1996 with Emily Bergl as lead but it never happened, then fast forward February 13,1998 that’s when it became Carrie 2. Filming took place mostly in the area of Charlotte, North Carolina between April 25,1998-July 1998 under the name Carrie 2:Say You’re Sorry, two weeks into filming the original director Robert Mandel supposedly quit due to creative differences and Katt Shea took over as director which meant two weeks worth of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea later revealed in a 2019 interview regarding The Rage: Carrie 2 that Robert Mandel was fired and MGM brought her in to salvage something of a mess rather than cancel production. One of the scenes filmed by Robert Mandel was when Eric and his father Lou was being interviewed by Sherrif Kelton and Deputy District Attorney Karen who was originally played by the late Teddi Siddall, when Katt Shea took over as director the scene was refilmed with Shea taking over the role as Deputy District Attorney Karen. Katt Shea later called Siddall to apologize for replacing her.

I loved this film, the bullies in this were so much more awful than in the original so the party massacre was so satisfying to watch, and the commentary on rape culture was so ahead of it’s time for 1999

I literally graduated in 99, no H.S. didn't go off the rails to the degree the bullies took it to here. Good god that is a collection of some of the worst in that entire year throughout the country lol
That's why I couldn't get into this movie. All the characters where mustache torling villains. The original Carry had a group of bad kids and a lot of innocents. Just like any other high school.
My high school had drama at the worst a girl threw a molotov cocktail into the wrong car. But it wasn't a massacre.

I only saw this movie once years and years ago, I never knew the guys were based on actual IRL people. So sick to hear the only person who was punished from the IRL group was lewd towards a ten year old 🤢 Just goes to show that real life is honestly worse than the movies tbh.

I've always wanted to see an adaptation of Ralph White's backstory instead of endless Carrie variations.
This was my favourite movie for many years.
A former co-worker of mine had Emily Bergl in their wedding party. Said Emily was totally fat shamed on the set by the producers. Also said Amy Irving was completely insane. Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience for everyone involved (sarcasm dialed up to 11.)
I know that shouldn't surprise me, and yet it does. Emily Bergl looks like a size 0-2 at the absolute most in this film. Also, the irony of the star of an anti-bullying movie essentially being bullied by the producers of that movie certainly isn't lost on me.

This was her film debut as well as her first time on camera since she was a stage actress at the time.
Its a GREAT film and has a more heartbreaking ending as Rachel was easily likable and her bf obviously loved her in return. The end was really sad.

I never gave this a chance back in the day but I must admit, I might go for it. There looks like some really nice cinematography here, better than than a lot of its contemporaries of the time (scream/I know../faculty/urban legend, etc)
I've loved this movie since it came out. It's very much a product of the 90s, just as the original was in the 70s. But the story is timeless, revenge by someone who you shouldn't have picked on. My ONLY gripe is when they go to the old ruins of the High School that Carrie burned down. No remnants would still be there after a 20 year disaster. I loved everything else about it. Especially the thorn tattoos. Very 90s

I really like this movie. It was definitely inspired by scream and Halloween H20 but I loved how they did something different instead of just totally retreading the first movie. Plus, Emily Bergl gave an amazing performance. This movie is so underrated and a 90’s horror classic.
I used to own this on DVD. I must say, it was good in its own way, but had it remained its own film and not have anything to do with the CARRIE mythos whatsoever, it would've been a lot better than most people would give it credit for.

I've only watched this movie once, and I remember liking it, but I couldn't handle that one scene of the crossbow hitting the guy, so I never watched it again.
Also this movie came out right before The Columbine massacre. So a lot of Horror or horror comedies didn't do well. I'm surprised that wasn't put into the video

The themes represent loneliness, isolation, social acceptance, depression, desperation, abandonment, and hopelessness which established the personality of Rachel Lang. Emily Bergl did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Rachel Lang as she put tons of emotion and depth into her role. To me the movie really speaks out a personal message as it shows severe or extreme consequences and circumstances of your actions. Also the concept was more brutal, explicit, graphic, and violent 😰😱 than Carrie (1976). It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍💯👍😎
This Movie is Good. I dont care what anyone think'S. I watched it every single week back when it Came out when I just started High School in 1999 and loved it and still do.

The plot involving the high school jocks who use a point system to rate their sexual conquests is inspired from a real-life 1993 sex scandal involving a group known as the Spur Posse. The film went into production in 1998 under the title Carrie 2: Say You're Sorry.
That is true, the main plot of The Rage: Carrie 2 where the football players had sex with most of the girls at school and rate their scores was partially based off the Spur Posse scandal. Filming of The Rage: Carrie 2 was between April 25,1998-July 1998, the original director Robert Mandel was fired two weeks after filming began so Katt Shea took over as director which meant two weeks of footage to reshoot. Katt Shea was hesitant at first but she was told that everyone would be fired and that the film would be shelved if she didn’t.
That scene with the swimming pool is forever burned into my mind

At least they didnt try pretending an obviously beautiful woman is somehow ostracized as ugly by her peers in high school. They acknowledged their heroine is a pretty girl. It might have done better without the reference to "Carrie" at all. Like just was ita own thing. I feel like i would have been more interested in seeing that back then.
In my opinion Rachel is very pretty. 😍💯👍😎 She could have been considered cool or popular but unfortunately due to her upbringing and life she was just misunderstood which is absolutely and positivity heartbreaking and sad as my heart aches for Rachel.😞😭🥺
I remember Watching the film when it came out it wasnt my favorite but i did enjoyed it & thought the special effects where really cool.
Carrie 2 was a lot of fun to see in theaters. I was in high school at the time and the idea of "modern" Carrie killing people with CDs was irresistable. The new protagonist was played very well and I enjoyed it.
Carrie 2 would have made more money if it was more accessible-- it's literally hard to pay money to own it.

It is one of Katt Shea best and finest work in cinema as it addresses how difficult it is to be a young woman today. It is such a true blue modern gem. When it was first released it received negative reviews which totally confused me but despite that I hold it very close to my heart as I feel it was compared unfavorably to the original rather than taken it's own merit and I even preferring it to the original. The Rage Carrie 2 was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and theme. Of course it's not similar to the original which I really love as it's offering a different perspective and perception of real life issues. The movie was just constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. They acknowledge it as a tragic love story and for the 20th anniversary of the film Scream Factory Blu-Ray released a Collector's Edition as it's finally getting the recognition and credibility it deserves as critics and audiences are fully understanding and comprehending the interpretation of the story.😍😎💯👍
I think the problem was that after the success of Scream in the later 90's, a lot of horror content got released and packaged as teen slasher type films to ride the wave of popularity. This film got caught in the frenzy. I still dont understand why they decided to market it so blatantly as a Carrie sequel. It is more like a retelling of the same story but in a later time period. Too similar to the original premise with nothing new and interesting to say.
Watching the Syfy channel horror marathons at a young age is how I came across this gem.

I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS MOVIE ON SHOWTIME BACK IN 2000 AND THEN I BOUGHT THE MOVIE ON VIDEO AFTER THAT AND NOW I HAVE CARRIE 2 ALONG WITH CARRIE ON DVD MY FAVORITE MOMENT IN CARRIE 2 IS THE PARTY SCENE WHERE RACHAEL GETS REVENGE ON EVERYBODY GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES.
Rachel Lang wasn't playing no games.😏😈😅😰😱 Wacthing Rachel getting her revenge on them was so satisfying as they all deserved it as they we're very cruel and heartless due to them constructed a "sex for points" game, mocked and made fun of suicide which is a serious issue, and they recorded a intimate moment of a student and exposed it to everybody at a party.😏😈
I actually really liked this movie and watched it several times. I still remember the song that was playing at the party just before all hell broke loose.
Saw it in theaters and got the dvd years after, it was a really good sequel im baffled it flopped all the way to hell.

If anyone wants this on blu ray I highly recommend the 88 films BR instead of the Scream Factory one. You do need a region free player, but 88 films did this movie a lot more justice than SF did. The deleted scenes for instance are watchable this time without the directors commentary, and honestly the transfer looks a lot better. I'm still hoping for a better US release though. SF was beyond stupid for forcing it on a double pack and they were quite lazy with the features, it deserved better.

Me personally I thought the movie was very unnecessary but it did have some themes that could've been explored in a horror movie or in a drama using the Carrie backdrop just was very unnecessary to me.

My heart aches for Rachel and Jesse as they make such a cute couple as they are both down to earth and genuine as I really wanted them to be together forever as the movie would have ended on a triumphant note.😍😎💯👍😭😞🥺

As a fan of the original, I expected to hate the sequel, but I didn't. The only sin it committed was having flimsy ties between Rachel and Carrie. I've always thought it would've been better received if it had stood on its own.

I'm not a fan of horror movies but I enjoyed this one. I like how in this one it was an actual romance instead of charity. The relationship was real sweet. I hate their wasn't an happy ending for them but it makes sense

The targeting of Rachel in "Carrie 2" starts because she is able to name Eric as the boy who had sex with her and dumped her and Eric was facing statutory rape charges.

The movie would have been way, way, way better if Sue had been able to successfully work with Carrie's sister to avert disaster and help Rachel cope with her powers.
