From my experience of playing elden ring and it being my first souls game I died alot for sure but not on the level kai has. But I understand his pain especially with commander Neil and fire giant. It's mostly seeing him die to the non bosses so many times that I believe people point out like the tree sentinel.

My first souls game was Dark Souls 1...and yeah, he's BAD. He literally died like 1,000 times to just 2 bosses. My first try, I killed the 2 gargoyles on the roof in less than 100. In fact, I've killed EVERY boss in less than 100 tries. Yes, I struggled, but nowhere NEAR that much. Especially since I'd already gotten used to the game by that point. By MELANIA, you should already have enough experience to beat a boss like this. In fact, the only reason I struggled against her was because she HEALED with every hit, and I was playing a Tank/DPS build. Basically, the way I play souls games is that I put on the thickest armor I can, grab a sword and shield, put a ton into strength and vitality, dodge what I can and tank what I can't, heal, and then bring the pain. Rinse and repeat until the boss is dead. Victory is determined by how well I know the bosses attack patterns, which is ENTIRELY skill based. In this current playthrough, I beat Morgot within 5 tries without even having his shackle. The first time, I REALLY struggled, and even then, it only took me 35 or so tries to beat him because I was still mastering the timing of when to dodge and when to attack due to the fact that I didn't have his attack patterns memorized and was still getting used to the various controls. More than FOUR HUNDRED tries is RIDICULOUS, even against someone like Melina. ESPECIALLY when you can summon help. Let me Solo her EXISTS.
I was fighting the Night Rider guy in Caelid near Lenna's rise, trying to do it without any armor bleed build, and it took so many tries that the Night Rider jumped off the bridge on his own.
its not the number of deaths its just the victory in the end that matters, the journey, the growth is the point of a souls like, my first play through of a souls game by the time i beat it i had died over 1,400 times... my third full playthrough i died under 300 times, improvement is what matters, and there is no shame in self improvement.
