Quick question guys. Going for a somewhat budget chatterbait/spinnerbait rod 100$ pole give or take. I've of course watched and re watched your rod videos but cant decide on a pole. Guess I'm have a problem with what action, length, power. Hard time finding the right power in the right length poles. March 20th is my 5 day Santee cooper trip and I'm counting down the days!!!
Even though they're silicone, spike it does work on them, but you have to let it soak in and dry. it seems to bleed into silicone, so you won't get sharp edges.
Love the Mag. I've found with the Magdraft, if you can creep it even slower than it wants to run, and almost tight line and try to suspend it around cover.. they hit it even harder.
@@mattfleming86yes pretty much. Getting it to the intended cover then tight lining it while raising the rod higher and higher to keep the bait up and trying to keep the bait in the stroke zone as long as possible. Works even better if you can work it into current.
Hey Matt, caught a PB yesterday, 6lbs 7ozs, because of you and your tips. I remembered a prespawn video where you were cranking a damiki vault pretty fast. Well I did the same and it caught me an absolute giant. Thank you to both of you for all the information you pass on. Your tips are still working lol
You guys are the best! Love your attention to detail and that you work with bait designers like Bucca to get baits to the rest of us that help catch monsters!!! Thanks Matt
@secretbassrigs all I use is pearl or white pearl. As close to minnow color as possible. The day after Christmas I caught three 28 inch walleye from the breakers in lake erie.

@@richardkeller6940 Use/do what you usually use/do when you get hung up. From my personal experience it rarely gets hung up. It's heavy enough that it usually dislodges or unhooks itself when given the proper slack. I usually use straight 30lb green/camo braid, sometimes with a 20lb mono or fluorocarbon leader. That's generally strong enough to wrench it out of anything if needed. I've never lost one, and I probably have around 10 of these, more or less, of different sizes and colors. That's how often I use them. Though I haven't had to yet, you can also modify them yourself with a fiber weed guard.
Thanks for the tips. I thought maybe you use a certain lure retriever or something. Ya otherwise I try to pop it free or break it off. Never owned a lure retriever so maybe I should give it a try.
Have you tested how the cull shad compares in use to the mag draft? I'm not a fan of the freestyle for skipping, and the cull shad seems to have a much better hook hanger system.
I'm a bait maker and I've been questioning color a lot lately. When colors are similar, such as your Electric and Gizzard shad, and you're fishing deep where there is little sun penetration I feel they both look the same. In my opinion, down deep, those both probably look white with a black back. I still make a million colors, but I question the need.
Although I understand needing to review stuff for a broad audience/certain price point… there’s definitely people in your audience including myself that would love to hear your opinions on some of the top custom guys such as working class zero, yunique baits, 3:16, UFO, DRT, Dreamsmasher etc.
Not likely to happen for a handful of reasons. Their focus is on helping the average fisherman catch more and bigger fish with baits that are readily available. They also aren't going to recommend anything that is not available at Tackle Warehouse.
Any tips on when I should start throwing swimbaits in Michigan? Should I wait until the water warms up a bit, or start throwing as soon as the ice thaws out? Is it more of a timing thing with bluegill spawn and lunar cycle?
Moving to TN area is part of that boot tail equation I personally think. I’ve found boot tail to be more successful for my fisheries in western KY which mimic the Tn waters you fish and I even fish some of the water you all do. Definitely a time and place for wedge tail but that boot tail just gets bit around here.
I live up north in Maine I am fishing on the ice currently but I am stoked for spring fishing one thing am wondering about is if all these tips applies the same for me up here with no shad in my lakes thanks for the help
I played a little with a 7" Nessie this fall to see if glide baits would be something I could get interested in. I decided to take a small step into that world and got one each of a few to try next year. I picked up a Chad Shad, 6" Trick Shad, Explorer Gill and an Osakana Slide so far. I'm hoping to add a Flag 170 and a G Flag 150 before the end of spring. I looked at a few true swimbait rods and I'm not sure how comfortable I would be with the extra long handle. Would a 7' 3" h/f Zodias, with either a Tranx 150 or 200, work well enough to comfortably throw all of them?
Well now I don’t know what I want to buy Leviathan 7,11 or same $ 200 and buy a Zodias😬 . One of these days I would like to see a video on you guys thoughts on rods a baits makers .
I love this channel but for Chris Zaldain’s “daingerous” swimbait not being mentioned is just crazy to me. Most versatile soft swimbait on the market. Can fish any possible situation you will run into on the water
I love the daingerous.. it has an AMAZING speed range and also a heavy version. All it really needs is an optional weedguard method and it would be PERFECT. EWG style hooks just dont have the same hookup ratio
I’ve always wondered if you guys throw any WCZ baits like the Citizen or Battle Shad? I understand that they are not readily available but with you guys being from the West Coast I would think you guys have fished them and you probably know Mike Gilbert personally. I’m limited to bank fishing ponds right now and they are all full of vegetation so it’s difficult to throw a Magdraft or a jig hook swimbait. I love the Citizen 6 and 7 because they come through everything and they get big bites. I fish them painfully slow in the winter and they still have action and draw strikes. Unfortunately once summer comes the ponds become so choked out with vegetation that I have to put the swimbaits down and stick to frogging or punching. I’ll never complain about frog fishing though, I love it and wish I could do it year round.
When do you typically start throwing rats? I recently got two, a reckless rodents EC rodent, and a Composite innovations Rat-Man, I'm super stoked to throw them, but I'm unsure if it's time yet, my water is 46-50 degress and 4-8ft visibility depending on which lake and wheee you are on it, but most of them are pretty clean
Can you help I have a question when reeling the magdraft and in the water looks like the heads down and the tails up looks not right. Do I speed up or slowdown....
