For terminals I use all thread. Drill a hole slightly smaller than the all thread and screw it in. With the all thread you can make them as long as you want. Use two nuts and a washer on the inside and a nut a washer and a wing nut on the outside.
If you still get whine after swapping out your rca cables then try to either ground the rca's negative to the vehicle itself or if still hearing it then get yourself a cheap ground loop isolator they usually eliminate all motor static interferences....
When painting MDF: mix white glue with water (or wood glue with water) and brush onto box with a chip brush, allow dry time, then paint. It will seal the pores in the wood so the paint/stain doesn't soak into the wood, leaving a dull finish. I didn't come up with this trick, but have done it and can confirm it works.
Hey, use rubber grommets on the inside and outside of your box speaker terminal bolts. I always recommend this they aren't expensive and they keep your box from getting pressure squeeze marks and it's just a little extra protection just in case.
I don’t think sundown you have too break in correct me if I’m wrong but I think they be breaking them in at the factory and you can slam on them when you get it
Just had a customer order from Big Jeff audio. He bought that exact five channel. I called them on the phone to confirm that item was in stock they were extremely polite and Very quick delivery! Jeff Audio for the Win!
Making me miss my old setup watching this build, zv4 18's two Ampere 3800's strapped at 1ohm. Thanks to your channel and some others I'm dipping my toes back into audio after years wish my wallet luck lmao
I've never owned 18s, had 4 JL w7s 13s and 4 JL w6 10s in a 2001 eclipse gt. Had 2 kicker 15 L7s in another vehicle, but 15s are as large as I've went. I've seen people running larger subs for comps, but for my daily drivers, I've personally never seen the need. Thank you for showing them to us though. Very useful and interesting info. Thank you for your generosity and the opportunity 🙏, stay well and be safe brother.
Exciting to see this coming to a completed build.. I can already see in the very near future your bubble is going to pop and it will be a 4 18s wall build..on 2 marts 16ks
That's right Parker!!! Love your content. Hate when ppl talk bad on your channel like they know better or do better or can provide better. But yet I don't see no channel being made by them so they still hating from the sidelines crying with their Sony Xblows!!
I have Love for the 18” sub my whole life. My 1st build was (1) the Punch 15” sub with the Punch 45 and my 2nd build was also in my 89’ Honda CRX was (1) the Punch 18” sub and my the Punch 150 which was “Awesome” for the time in the early days and I built my single 18” enclosure in Votech carpentry 1 class in high school sophomore year on some of the finest shop equipment money could buy. Best looking enclosure I’ve ever built and I did fab “MANY” in High School (9-10 grade Carpentry 1 / 11-12 grade Carpentry 2 ) as my Legal hustle, I built boxes for the entire school & community known as the Enclosure King or “the Box Guy” putting all the local shops out of work in their shops on their enclosure builds because this was before pre-fab boxes. I built anything from (1) single sub enclosure to (8) 15” subs in bed of mini-trucks with snug tops, I made a small fortune in high school on subwoofer enclosures for 4 years in the “ Bass Beginnings” having a state of the art wood shop at my leisure at my Vo-tech. I started out with high end gun cabinets for guys and China Hutches for women and when subwoofers hit the South I never looked back! Rules were I had to turn in a Complete drawing for a grade & people had to provide ALL materials and deliver ALL materials on site (wood, screws, glue, carpet or paint) and my teacher was so cool telling me did Not want to see any money being exchanged at school. I took alot of time & I was REALLY proud of this slanted 18” single enclosure painted in black with neon splattered paint. After all this was the 80’s and it was a big hit at the time instead of carpet! I had a friend from local electronics store (Hooper’s Electronics) that worked out All my enclosure volume for sub sizes that was a mathematical genius so we had a winning combination as a team for I was the builder and I sent all my customers to him to buy Alpine, Rockford Fosgate ( the Punch), Kicker(subs only back then), MTX( the Red Terminator Series Amps & subs 🔥) & Linear Power was All the Rage back then!#thePunch#”80’sBestofTimes”#🔊@ParkertheBasshead
on boxes i always make terminals like these, imo the best and cheapest way to make proper terminals...just i mark them by painting the ends of the bolts with red and black colors
After I finished building my 2 custom D2 400oz 15s that are now at half ohm on my cab45 on lithium I had a small chip on the bottom of my windshield from like 5 or six years ago that's lived through the pretty decent setups ive had but after a couple days of the new setup my windshield cracked all the way to the top. I have Mixed feelings on that one it sucks my windshield is toast but the idea my subs cracked it from the bottom to the top is pretty cool. It does flat out slam now but I'd say the reason it cracked is it's a grand caravan so the windshield frame flexes big-time and it was chipped already so it's not because subs are so insane it broke my windshield...
I remember when Parker started his channel and mfkrs would troll him because of his low budget builds. Look at him now! Congrats Parker love your builds and content
That’s crazy your happy thst 2 18’s floated a napkin. I was actually thinkin it would be more. I had 2 skar zvx12’s on a smart 3 a sub and I floated better. I feel like there could be more wind
i love this build !!! i have a slight feeling of envy LOL... well ALOT .. lol.. ugh, i want this soooo bad !!!!! congrats on your awesome achievements and work , dedication parker your the MVP.. also thank you to BIG JEFF YOU sir are LEGEND !!!!
Envy is really bad. Work hard and save your money and you can have anything you want. Parker just didn't wake up with (2) 18's.... He's been putting out videos for a few years now. He's earned and worked his way up to what he has. But like I said if you have envy work a little harder and make some more money you'll be in the same spot in no time
Awesome, The Big 18” Beast sub and it’s a Sundown to boot! I’d Love to have two Sundown 12” DVC2 with a pair of Down4Sound’s JP8s slaved on each sub because I ended up buying 2 when they were on sale!#Down4Sound#JPAmps#JP8🔥🔊
Need some help… I am putting sound system on my boat and I have the Skar 1500.1 marine amp but needing advice on should I go with the EVL 12 loaded enclosure or the dual 12 svr loaded enclosure??? It’s going in a compartment behind the back seat also.
Might be the amp. Marts equipment causes whining/hissing in my experience. Had one of their DSP’s. Had to get rid of it. Expert Electronics does the same thing.
I personally don't care for the simple poke bolts out the side of the box it looks kinda cheesy but here's a terminal tip, which is take a 4" or so hole saw and put a hole where you want your terminals router a radius on the outer edge looks nice and then attach it however you choose over the hole on the inside then put your bolts through, not only does it look less "ah whatever good enough" but it also recesses your bolts so if it's on carpet not sitting on a hard surface you could lay the box on that side if you change your mind on where to aim your subs or just to hide the terminals. Trust me it looks way more professional than diy.
Just tie a knot in the wire then feed it through a hole in the box. No chance of ruining the carpet, and you get no change in wire diameter from a terminal block or bolt.
Hey Parker, nice build. When you get a chance can you give a demo playing Young Jeezy- Hypnotized and Gucci Mane Ft. Oj Da Juiceman- Stealing, Those songs slap super hard👍💯
hey parker or anybody else who can answer, how long should the ports be,and how far should they be apart,i'm thinking about building my own 18 inch box, real soon
Hey parker. I just popped my 10s. What is a decent brand of 10s that are cheap. Sumn that won't blow apart for around 100 dols? I'm a def budget banger.
Probably is. My Mart’s and Expert Electronics (same company it seems by the design and manuals) we’re identical and both caused hissing and whining in my system. They can’t take over 1.9 volts of RCA input or they cause a dirty clipped signal on every output.
Dude in the future if your going to take the time to build a pretty box, instead of a black sharpie use a red and black paint pen to mark the ends of the bolts. Looks way better! Great job on the box my dude!
For terminals I use all thread. Drill a hole slightly smaller than the all thread and screw it in. With the all thread you can make them as long as you want. Use two nuts and a washer on the inside and a nut a washer and a wing nut on the outside.
I use acorn nuts on the outside. Makes for a more finished look. 😊
@@RJSDZNS I like the wing nuts. Makes removal much easier.
@@wijibo6772 I will not argue that sir😁
I like lock nuts because the massive bass doesn't rattle them loose.

Going to upgrade to 4 15s once I can find a box builder in Kentucky
There is some wire look that is specifically made for RCA wires. It helps block the interference.
Done both and have been a subscriber since the beginning yo!!!

Hahahaha good!
Parker, have you ever done a video on building the loudest system only using the factory electrics (alternator and battery) ?
He made a video about how loud 1000 watts can get which is basically all you can get from factory electrical
The enclosure looks very, very nice! 👍
Nice looking enclosure, but one question, no round over on the port entrance?
Your smile says everything we need to know 😅 its a beast!.
