Fun idea. Because so much of this is context around the actor in the moment, it becomes increasingly hard to gauge the further back you go in time, other than picking very early career performances. I don't have a particularly long list beyond my 10, but I went for a mix of qualifiers:
- First significant film roles. (1, 2, 3)
- Known actors excelling to a surprising extent. Could be playing against type or genre, or just being given the platform in a different/new context. (4, 5, 7, 8)
- Casting choices which deepen the character through an existing relationship between actor and audience. (4, 6, 9)
- A supporting performance which indelibly defines the property of the film to me beyond reasonable expectation. (10)
Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper!
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine going undrafted is craaazy
Viggo came out and said that he would be willing to come back to play the role but idk if he could. like seth was saying
Chris Pratt as Garfield first overall draft pick
Willem Dafoe in the Lighthouse
Mickey Rourke in the Wrestler
Joaquin Phoenix in you were never really here
Sigourney Weaver in all the alien movies
Bill Nunn in do the right thing
Adam Sandler in punch drunk love
