Totally agree, I go see movies like this with insane buzz and admiration & I tend to question what’s wrong with me, why don’t I absolutely love this like seemingly everyone else

HARD AGREE! Finally someone who, like myself, thought it was good, not great. It meandered midway through, losing its footing a little as it staggered towards a slightly stronger end. I hear the director encourages improvised lines of dialogue and it absolutely shows (for the worst unfortunately). I’ve seen better handling of a similar approach in movies like This Is England or even Kids. This felt like it stuttered part way through and I couldn’t get a handle on the main character Anni; I struggled to reconcile her tenacity and fierceness with her naïveté around her marriage with Vanya. Rather than this creating a multi dimensional character, I actually found myself feeling frustrated at her inability to see the relationship as being as transactional as all her other interactions with the patrons at her club. I had sympathy for her being defined by and maligned for her sex work but not for what I perceived as straight delusion.
