- In this short video I show how to barbecue pork belly slices. Using a simple 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 technique, shown here, this will produce perfectly cooked belly pork slices time and time again. What makes the perfect belly pork slice? For me it is crisp skin and moist, almost pulled pork stringy meat.
Use the 1/3's technique for consistent and well cooked BBQ.

This is excellent - just how I (in Aus) we would describe bbq, so came up when I searched for this exact thing which was what I was looking for. Loved your calm clear manner 👍🏻 your bbq looks just like mine 😜
Cooking this right now. I marinaded mine in some teriyaki and used my own home made rub. Hope it turns out good :-)
Dave Sturdy How did it come out? I'm getting ideas for my P.B. thanks
Trying this technique later. For years I’ve been cooking everything directly over the coals- no wonder I’ve struggled with temp management and burning.
Cheers for the tips. Salt & Chili pork belly slices about to go on my BBQ. Hopefully they turn out like yours!
They were delicious!!
Nice one Dave!
Great video and instructions however I wished that you would've sliced one open to view the texture and doneness.
This is nice and simple, how I prefer
Looks delicious!! I'm a fan of that Butt Rub seasoning!! I'm making this today for dinner with potato salad.
Enjoy your BBQ!
simplebbq Thank you, I plan on it 😁
Too easy. The thing I learnt. Coals on one side. Great way to save time money. Excellent! Cheers! Bon appetit!🌹🇭🇲
Lol! He said “butt rub” Yes, I am 12 years old 😂😂
Good video ,. Now learn how to 🔥Sear
And you'll up you're Game and tastes
More than you thought possible 😊🎉
South African expat here, having Polish friends over for a Rugby World Cup Braai day. Thanks for this! Looking forward to the England Argentina match later.
*men of all color we have united by grilling and beer*
Making this tonight
When did British people start learning how to bbq?
Since Malcolm Reed started his RUclips channel 👌🏼
Hahahah 😅😅😅
We've been cooking on an open flame outdoors since caveman times at a guess...
@@MrJmawiseman to be fair, we americans call indirect heat cooking, "BBQ," and everything above an open flame, "grilling."
There is also an inbetween, as with everything. This aims for 12-18" above a bed of coals, but not fire. This, around here, is called "Hill country style BBQ." And is some of the best I have had. You get both a light (but penetrative) smoke and then you get the renderings dripping into the fire, heating up, and then sticking back to the meat. Think of the way a burger or steak tastes.
-end "well akshually!🤓☝️" rant.
Anyway. I don't disagree that even smoking (BBQ) has been done since caveman times. I once had a person from south carolina tell me they "invented," BBQ by smoking a whole pig. 😂
I had to say, do you realize how long pigs have been around?
Since they invented umbrellas
What temperature was your bbq running at, i know the top vent is open but i can't see the bottom one
Nice approach to grilling fatty cuts like pork belly
Can you cook decent pork belly on a grill without a lid?
Maybe wrapping in aluminum foil?
Hi Boris, You can cook belly pork without a lid. Just put the meat to the side of the direct heat on the grill and keep an eye on it. I wouldn't suggest wrapping in foil.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
kinda how i do em but on gas grill
Please, for the love of god, get some tongs that are easier to use
Did it take 3 hours to cook 6 tiny pieces of meat?
That grill needs a good clean!
Gee, BBQ versus grilling, give it a rest. You can see what is being done here.
Had this exact thing at the Luxembourg Xmas markets and my search led me here.
Good job. Keep up the BBQ/smoking/grilling/baking.
PS nice to see that you are not using gas/LPG.

Man, the grate is extremely dirty and the black is going onto the food. Is that ok?
DiscusMagic That's not dirt, that's use. This grill has had something like 1000 cooks on it and the shiny factory effect is long gone. The grill rails are probably about half the size they were when it was new. With red hot charcoal underneath, you can quickly and easily clean up a grill if it is dirty. Use the heat and a stiff wire brush with a long handle to remove any cooking debris.
@@SimpleBBQ shiny grated means grill is not used... you are right. Plus we run the pit at high temps , it sanitizes everything . Just get rid of dust, and other particle debry ...
Have you left the rind on?
Absolutely, that's a crunchy highlight.
Hi
What temperature are you running at?
Hi +Mark Newham, sorry for the delayed response. As hot as it will go, is the easy answer. 3/4 chimney of briquettes would be my starting point with the vents wide open.
barbecue and grilling are two different things... for those who cook a lot and are serious about it I suggest learning the difference and change the title to "How to GRILL" not "How to BBQ"
You are quite right Paul, we know the difference but Simple-BBQ was set up to help those who had never grilled, or smoked or cooked BBQ before. Thanks for checking in and taking the trouble to comment.
Yes I am aware!!! It was not meant to be condescending or rude just simply putting it out there... still learned a little, great channel :)
That's pretty unnecessary. Everything alright at home, son? Your parents don't control you. You'll find your way.
Fuck you
Yep, I figured it would only take 15 comments before this showed up
"barbecue" lol
No wood chips? No water pan? You didn't BBQ pork belly, you grilled it. Probably still tassty
dude no offence but try and inject a bit of personality into yr voice.
Seemed very clear and listenable to me - dude.
