• How Bangalore Metro is...
BMRCL is the laziest metro organization in India. With their current snail pace speed of construction traffic problems won't be solved. Bangalore govt & bbmp is super fast in giving permission for tech parks, malls & apartments even in 20 feet wide roads. by the time BMRCL finish a line ( 5-6 years) traffic will increase multiple times.
Hopefully the industries move away from the city and population distribution happens to other cities

April 2023 - Purple line Whitefield metro will be running, currently trial is ON.
December 2023 Yellow line Electronic City to Silk Board half of the yellow line route would be expected to run.
Add another 3-4 months considering BMRCL past performance.
Whitefield Metro is now On, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated it today
I guess 50% of traffic will be cleared once the lines from Silkboard - KR Puram via HSR layout and the line to Nagawara where most of the IT Parks are situated like ecospace, rmz, manyta and bagmane. Once its operational major chunk will be cut off.

Both the State Governments and the BMRCL has approved the plan of extending the Yellow line (inter state connectivity) from Bommasandra to Hosur. I think this is the second inter state metro connectivity in India after Delhi Metro.
Yes, it will help many working people who travel from tamilnadu and Karnataka.
Only the plan has been approved but the site for metro station at Hosur has not yet been pooled and I think it may take few years to finish this project. But yeah, this might really counter the present travelling time between two states.
I live in BTM. Metro station is just an 8 min walk for me.
Also you have to consider phase 3 which just got approved by state govt (in principle). That line will start at JP nagar 4th phase and go till hebbal through summanalli and peenya. So it will complete the other half of ring road and will connect to the 2B phase airport line. After the ring road gets completed, avag nodana traffic kadme agutta illa antha. Alli vargu pardatane!

In India, metros are white elephants. The costs of metro transport should be comparable with the cheapest alternate transport to be successful.

Traffic issue will not solve until the satellite ring road get constructed. Actually many people no need of entering bluru city. They need a ring road to byepass the major traffic bottlenecks. Just imagine if a person from hassan wants to go tirupati, why should he need to cross all the way from Nelamangala to Hebbal, tinfactory, then kr puram, hoskote. If there is some ring road, it would help to byepass and join at another outskirts of Bengaluru.
