fun fact: the middle finger came from English longbow archers that were taken captive. they would have their middle finger cut off. they would show their middle finger while they ran to safety. I typed this with my eyes closed
Actually the first recorded instance comes from the Roman Empire - it talks about a guy arguing with another guy on the street, he got fed up, gave him the middle finger and walked away.
