    I think I've figured out the "display figures from the back" thing. While it doesnt bother me, sometimes Ill have a display where two bots are having a sword fight or something similar with one of them with his back to me. And that's when I noticed how hollow and awkward the back looks. Not a big issue but I think thats why people dont like hollow backs or backpacks.

    Great review! It’s funny how TF:Prime, at times, stylized G1’s blocky designs (TF:Prime Shockwave is awesome, but has an organic creepiness, too). Now Legacy makes TF:Prime “blocky”, but yeah, Bulkhead pulls this off way better than Arcee. Her weapons, are odd, too. Maybe, they could have made bike/mode hand covers that became arm blasters? Maybe if they had put both wheels, split, in some non-Mospeada way, on the backpack? Hmmm… I’ve only read a little about Flamewar, after getting her legion figure. I hope Hasbro reconsiders, and makes her. Thanks again!

  • @awesomusprime8611
    @awesomusprime8611 2 года назад +51

    My biggest problem with this figure and Legacy as a whole is how insulting it is to Prime fans. G1, G2, and Beast Wars characters are getting amazingly accurate updates while Prime characters/designs are shoved through a G1 filter. Knockout is also extremely lazy, only being a slight remold or SS86 Jazz, but the biggest issue is that we still don’t have proper updates to these designs and that hurts for Prime fans like myself. We still don’t have a proper TF Prime Knockout and that just sucks because his design in the show was awesome. Whether the figures are good or not isn’t really my point, I’ve heard that Bulkhead is great, it’s just that Prime fans are getting the finger. But hey, at least it’s not as bad as the lack of Animated figures.

    • @hyperdimensionbliss

      And then the geewunners have the gall to tell us it's perfectly justified and we should just suck it up because "ThEy FiT bEtTeR iN a G1 cOlLeCtIoN."

    • @awesomusprime8611
      @awesomusprime8611 2 года назад +12

      @@hyperdimensionbliss Exactly, and Hasbro listens to them! All they do is pander to the G1 fans and just don’t care about the other fans. This toyline shouldn’t be called Legacy because that implies that it celebrates the legacy of the whole franchise. Instead it just celebrates the legacy of G1 while giving only a couple of things to Beast Wars fans, G2 fans, and Unicron Trilogy fans. I bet that this will be a trilogy with a combiner in each line, and I bet every combiner will just be from G1 again.

    I want to see a redeco of this mold as Transmutate from Beast Wars: Uprising. The character is already a cool concept in the Beast Wars show, and Uprising takes it a step further, confirming a gender for her, and establishing that she has a Cybertronian equivalent to our Autism Spectrum Disorder, then making her one of the most powerful types of Cybertronian in existence, a point one percenter. As an autistic person, I appreciate this very intentional and subtle piece of representation in Transformers media, though I am sad to say I missed out on the old Arcee redeco to Transmutate.

    3 stars feels about fair. On the list to buy to go alongside Legacy Bulkhead, and Knockout which I think are great. Owning FE from Prime though it wonderfully captures the look and character I've come to really dislike handling most Prime era toys due to how fickle the transformations are as well as thin the plastic is. For posing on a shelf though they're great. Legacy from what I have seen despite the complaints of clear plastic are still a lot more fun to play around with. Legacy Arcee definitely looks like the weakest entry looking nowhere near as clean as the original with the wheels just pegged onto the side but still looks serviceable and probably has the nicest bike mode since ROTF deluxe Arcee.

    I like her, she’s the weakest of the wave, but not bad. My main issues are the backpack not plugging in somewhere so it wiggles around and the way that the waist swivel joint isn’t pinned in so when you try to swivel the waist it feels like it’s gonna break and sometimes pops out
    I kinda like the ability to pop off the headlight/wings bit for transformation. Makes things a little easier
    Yes, the weapons are half-assed but I have a decent amount of spare accessories so that’s not a big issue for me

    This is my only purchase of the Legacy line, I've no interest in the line. And I gotta say, I (do) like her, but she has her caveats. Like, I did find some new things about her, such as the tabbing of the legs for robot and crotchplate for motorcycle, and the back kibble can be adjusted to your/my liking, but after discovering the stress marks that transforming the shoulders did (I have TFanPage101 to thank for pointing that out when I saw that review), I might as well not convert her again, despite how enjoyable I found her transformation to be. (I've no idea how Siege Springer's transformation is so bad, considering how clever it's trying to be, and I'll never transform my Earthrise Barricade ever again, not because of the clear plastic, but because it's supposed to be a dead-easy transformation and somehow it's incredibly difficult to get it together.)

I like the bike mode, it just that even with the beast wars figures, there wasn’t to much of a difference between them and the original, except scorponak, but at least those guys got fairly show accurate toys, what do we prime fans get? A bulkhead while good is more like movie hound, a really good retool of 86 jazz for knockout, and this blurssed figure. I really hope a 3p company makes show accurate prime toys one day. Skids I was thinking the robot pelvis & lower back must had a bend in it. However, didn't to assume & break if I was wrong so checked directions. Arcee... those dang side panels getting both set of pegs plugged in, esp the T pegs. Also when the upper pelvis + lower back spin pops half or fully out nerfs her spine holding up. If not for PE's review wouldn't have figured out what that joint deal was.

  • @TheRealHiboman
    @TheRealHiboman 2 года назад

    I will say I think the back wheel pegs are placed intuitively. It’s been a thing forever that Cycleformers have weird frustrating ways of putting split wheels back together with a lot of asymmetrical tabs and pegs and things that tend to take a few tries if you’re not focusing
    And the most frustrating example of a splitting gimmick with asymmetrical assembly I can think of is actually also from a Cycleformer, but not the wheels. Animated Oil Slick’s barrel chain flail thing has entirely unique ridges that go together precisely one way and it takes FOREVER to get them aligned lol
    Having only one peg on one side and only one hole on the other means you can line up Legacee’s wheel halves after only checking once
    For me it’s second only to RID15 Fracture who has a circular ridge on one wheel piece and a circular slot on the other so you’re guaranteed to line them up no matter what

    With all of the stupid shit that came out of not-RID, I think Strongarms design from that is great. She's a female character, but that isn't her whole personality and design, therefor she actually has a good design that can be made into a good figure that isn't nearly every single other female character we've ever had in Transformers history.
    She could get a figure in Legacy and they would have to HEAVILY modify it to make it anything we got out of the WFC trilogy (minus the Beast Wars female characters who actually got good figures) or this... thing they called Prime Arcee. Strongarm is a good example of how female characters in Transformers should be designed. Not all the time of course, I don't really have anything against Prime Arcee's design, and one of my favourite characters to use as a Scientist in WFC multiplayer was Slipstream, but you can see which designs work better as figures and which don't. Override is another good example, although if memory serves I think she was a dude in the Japanese version, so... there _is_ that aspect to consider.
    Also the Prime Wars trilogy Elita-1 that PerspectiveEnd simps for is another good example of good female character design in Transformers.

    Legacy Prime Arcee only had a tight ankle on one leg, and the other one is too loose, so rip A pose isn't a thing

    I like the legacy prime arcee. I also have the first edition arcee which is pretty much perfect so I don't want another rehash of the exact same design. Again that's me personally and relates to my collection.
    Why I think the wfc g1 stuff makes sense is that it updates the g1 toys with modern engineering and design. Both of those things are already present in the original prime toys.
    Again that's all very personal to me and I cam empathize why people what an update of the original prime design

      I don't mind the aesthetic itself. Bulkhead is great and knockout looks pretty neat.
      It's mostly that arcee doesn't do it well in my books

    While I personally hope we get a Flame War, I still love my Arcee as she is.
    Yeah, her hips/back don’t plug in on mine, and yeah the light piping is lame, and yeah the partsforming and weapons are meh… but she’s also a damn decent fembot!
    I actually didn’t really like Blackarachnia that much, finding her inarticulate spider legs more a waste of plastic that constantly get in the way. And Kingdom/Earthrise Arcee was… oof. I liked Air Razor, but she didn’t have the same level of nostalgia to me since I didn’t grow up with Beast Wars. I came into the fandom at Armada.
    Which means that Cyberverse Arcee (which has serious plastic yellowing wtf?!) and the Cyberverse Slipstreams were the last “good” fembots I picked up that I had a connection to. This Legacy Arcee felt like a step back in a way, but a step back to the Cyberverse figures I adore. And I can’t be too mad about that

    Regardless I think she’s still cool looking and the bike is just as good. Hopefully Toyhax makes a cool label set. My only gripe is the wheels on the side instead of the back of her legs

      For me, I'm not going to bother with toyhax. I won't upgrade a figure I don't like. Too much of a hassle
