  • Remember Flashback at Six Flags Magic Mountain? It was a one-of-a-kind Intamin/Giovanola "Space Diver" roller coaster. It traveled around to several Six Flags parks and it was not known for being a "smooth" roller coaster! The ride closed forever in 2003. Here's some retro footage that was shot in 2000! Enjoy!

I remember riding this ride like it was yesterday. The skies were blue, the cold California air hitting my face as I heard the clicks of the chainlift. We finally made it to the top, mom and dad by my side and as the train approached the first dive, I woke up and realized that I never rode this ride bc I was born in 1996.

If you go inside the gates next to bugs bunny world you'll see the fright fest maze condemned which is the loading station for flashback. Rode this a few times during my childhood. I always found it to be intriguing and appealing because it was so unique and creative. However, the pain and rattling took away most redeeming qualities. Also, unless you get the front wall, the tall cars made visibility zero as you were staring at a giant fiberglass wall the entire time.

The only flashback I have about this roller coaster is how painful that thing was. It was fun for the first turn then slammed us into the side and everyone was like ok thats why this shit is never open. That ride dislocated my spinal cord almost.

That looks like fun. Too bad they got rid of it. When did this coaster actually come out?

      It came out in 1992.

Take my word for it: This thing wasn't fun at all. It was rough, painful, and had some of the worst use of over the shoulder restraints on a coaster.

That is a bizarre coaster. Probably the weirdest layout I've ever seen and it was when Intamin still used Giovanola track. Basically looks like the deformed outdoor cousin of Space Mountain.

I was 13 when this was new and still remember the brain rattle I got riding that POS once. If you ever wanted to know what it would be like to take a left hook, right hook combo from Mike Tyson, ride Flashback at Six Flags.

This was originally the "Z Force", built for Six Flags Great America (Gurnee, Illinois) in 1985... It lasted until the 1989 season when it was replaced by Iron Wolf, a stand-up roller coaster... Z Force wasn't a bad ride, but it wasn't all that great, either, as it would kind of toss you around on the dives...

Another problem was that because the sound of the coaster was loud to the life guards at Hurricane Harbor, it was generally closed from May to September everytime the water park was operating during the summer.

i love rollercoasters, and this has been the only one I remember not enjoying. There was an unpleasant physical sensation to those accelerated sharp turns at the ends . None of my friends suggested we ride it again.

one of two of the most roughest roller coasters I have beem on. This and there version of the wooden coaster Cyclone which both are no longer at Magic Mountain.

@ Kenzie Backlin Wrong. They're two different rides. Psyclone was a Summers/Dinn creation, and Apocalypse (originally Terminator Salvation: The Ride) is a GCI

I've been on Psyclone 10 times in a row as there was no line at all. I loved the shakieness but Flashback was already SBNO in 03. :(
