cuz the 5 speed was not common. BMW also had 4 speed, and VAG as well. After a few years, the 5 speed became an option for them. We have a fabia, but with a jatco JF404e, instead of this one, this is made in japan. For this octavia, this 4 speed is not enough, but for smaller cars, its more than enugh even today. maybe it helps for power delivery at higher speed, but nothing more.
1.8 turbo with those stats? On paper it looks to me like a waste of a turbo if you consider the NA Alfa Romeo twin spark 1.8 was 140-4hp and 160-70Nm peak. That turbo had better come with great fuel economy
First gen 1,8 20Vs are one of the best concern motors. I have the same car with 243000km with perfect engine. The 1,8 TFSI is the nightmare as I heared.
Sorry for my bad english... But... Are you kidding? I am not VW fan but this 1.8turbo was one of the Best engine built by VW group. My friend has passat 1.8t and it was miracle what this engine can stand with rough handling from my friend. Full cold lunch to rew limitter on 1st and 2nd gear. No oil change for years and this engine still going. And I repeat i am not VW fan.
@@MateiM. Actually you don't know your engines, the 1.8t prior to the tfsi/tsi is a tremendously reliable engine and can hold up to 300hp on stock internals, the engine has minor problems like oil consumption when regular oil change intervals aren't kept up with and problems with cracking manifolds. Overall small issues that can be easily fixed/avoided.
Much better than what I expected from that old gearbox
Mee too
That is surprisingly fast
Love old octavia! 🔥
ich haben nen 99er Oktavia 1.8T super Auto und ich liebe die Motorisierung! Läuft wie ein Uhrwerk und ist sparsam im Verbrauch.
Good, vectra c 3.2 v6 next please✌️🙏🙃
Skoda20V-TURBO讚讚讚
So much trafic this day, can't reach max speed. Goes nicely 100-160
My god! You are so lucky.
that thing whips
Nice acceleration for 4 gear automatic
The 01m transmission is trash
its crap
Great cars! I have a manual, but the automatic gearbox doesn’t seem bad either. 👌🏻
What rpm does it do at 130 kmph and what fuel consumption do you get at that speed?
@@mitoski7427 are you asking me this?
👍 Сделайте выпуск Sкoda Superb 1.8T 1го поколения пожалуйста 👋
Gdzie tu vmax?
Why did they made 4 gear automatic transmission? Makes car slower.

А че не максималка?
♥️♥️♥️♥️
Dont believe. I have Skoda Octavia 1.6( 1u2) but my max speed 190 . I think 1.8 is capable of driving 240
👍👍🤠

Gearbox kills it
gearbox shift quite fast for such old box
I hearn ONLY bad things about this engine (1.8 T)..leaking oil, eating oil, etc.
Is that true?
no

it's a bad engine
@@MrRohanThomas the early TFSI yes, the later TFSI and TSI not as much and the 1.8T not at all
The best Engine i had in my life
Nice video! But the 1.8 is the worst engine created by Volkswagen

@@ibamarcel4577 Its false! The 1.8L is the worst engine you don't know to much information about cars

@@todoratanasov2444 dude the TFSI or TSI is the worst engine
@@MateiM. Yes it is but as you can see in the video the skoda is equipt with the 1.8t 20v which is the predicesor of the tfsi/tsi engines.
Manual is faster
It's not 150..
