    The parts were you were belaying your partner down, did you end up having to leave some gear behind to abseil down them? Is it possible to do it without leaving gear behind? Or was it from a bolted anchor?

    To the question of “what to look for in a guide”: look for someone who enjoys teaching, is kind and patient. Choose a guide with a sense if humour and who enjoys guiding (vs climbing with friends). All the IFMGA guides are amazing accomplished mountaineers. The great teachers are harder to find.
