  • This is a part two of my restoration/tutorial series! The first we went over the first step, cleaning. In this second video we are going over boil washing, hair styling, hair curling, and also most importantly doll hair types. No doll has the same hair type usually. Dolls come in all various conditions too, so it’s important to understand what hair type you have before trying to work on it.
    This video is longer because it’s thorough, I hope you don’t mind! But this will be a big help if you’re unsure about boil washing, unsure about hair styling, and even unsure about what hair type your doll has and how to tell a difference between hair fibers. This can even help you upkeep your doll collection if you feel your barbie needs a little something something. If you work on the dolls you have, instead of buying a new one to replace it, they would be ever so grateful! And you may end up liking them more because you did the work!
    I hope this video is helpful to you in your doll collection journey!!

    Hi there!! Your channel found its way to me here in NZ just a few days ago! So excited for you!~ Girl you are stellar!!! I reckon your channel gonna blow up, just you watch! Love your humour and style, your dolls are so beautiful - please please do a doll collection showing and take your time with each doll! Gosh we might be there a while - you could split them off into eras and make several videos. I think you can bring about practical restoration knowledge to new Barbie fans, of which I am sure has grown since the Barbie movie! I can see myself mastering some of your techniques, the way you describe how to do and why you're doing something is just so natural and Teacher-ly! Like face painting - at the moment I have made over some ghoulish dolls with just make up. Would be great to know more about all that in due course - what will leach into the doll's vinyl face (like my Son's poster paint, whoops). BTW I rarely comment on videos on youtube, but just wanted to reach out and be like - wow, you are a genuine sweet person, a real doll! We see you girl and we are rooting for you! You are another wonderful sharing and creative type who is needed in the youtube doll community - now and into the future! Pace yourself and just go for it - and have fun of course, most of all! Gosh I am serious - cannot wait for you to more properly show and tell your collection!!! Thank you, and wishing you always good health and cheer, From New Zealand!🙌❤❤💯

And I wanna thank you for not only being here, but your kind and supportive words! Thank you!!!

    Thank you so much! God i wish i knew these tips and tricks earlier, i also did that mistake on my tnt gal 😭

    I did the same thing to my TNT Barbie! She had acetate ash blonde hair, and I feel like the boiling water lightened the color too. She got the frizzy hair but I just redid the boil wash on water that’s slightly cooler than boiling and it worked!

      @@NostaIgiaJunkie I’ll have to try that again with mine! Because believe it or not, this is after several washes lol I’m even tempted at flat ironing. But tbh, it’s not a dire need. As she is the way she’s been since I was a kid. But I’m so happy you got yours looking so cute!!! And also good to know I wasn’t the only one who made that mistake. Boil washes help most hair types, but it’s not the solution for all. I don’t know if you’re familiar with mego Farrah dolls, but boiling water melts her hair lol found that out the hard way.

      @@disneybarbiegirl615 I posted about my experience in a vintage barbie group, and I got similar advice. Boiling isn't the answer for all dolls. I really hope you get her looking silky smooth, it's tricky with these vintage girlies but I know you can do it! I don't have any Farrah dolls YET but thanks so much for the heads up! Thankfully most of the Farrah dolls have kept their hairstyles over the years.

    8:25 I just rerooted my Malibu Barbie because her Acetate hair was just so thin and broken. I used Kanekalon because it’s so easy to make pin straight. I would’ve used Saran, but I wanted to try a new hair fiber to root in. I also couldn’t find a color match to do a restoration.
    I can send pictures if you wanna see how she turned out.

      I’d love to see! I bet with the hair you chose, it looks even better! I actually found a site that sells acetate, and it’s literally the same hair as Malibu. I purchased it and I’ve been waiting for a busted doll to use it on. It’s such a shame that over time it gets so brittle and knarly. I bet your doll is better off with kanekalon!

      @@disneybarbiegirl615 Oh for sure! I even added more holes to fill out her back hairline and any bald spots. I dunno if all Malibu Barbies have such a weird hairline, but mine’s from Korea and her hairline was just a circle- I also added your Instagram!

    This is such a good, much needed video! My problem is trying to figure out what kind oh air my stock Blythes have. They arrive with so much greasy product in their hair that I can’t tell. I have looked it up but most info on Blythes doesn’t give that detail. 😢

    • @disneybarbiegirl615
      @disneybarbiegirl615  Месяц назад +1

      They may have a type of nylon maybe? There’s good nylon and dry. But I’d imagine your Blythe dolls have really nice hair!

      @@disneybarbiegirl615 maybe! They really don’t - they often arrive with really greasy hair and dry ends - most of the time it’s a tangled mess. Which is unfortunate because they are nice dolls for the most part - just have to figure out how to best treat their hair. I’ve googled carefully to try and find out what kind of hair they have but to no avail. 🤗

    Am I the only one who hates kanekalon? I hate brushing it , feels like it snags on the brush/comb and breaks off easily. I also dislike the matte finish.

    • @disneybarbiegirl615
      @disneybarbiegirl615  28 дней назад

      No, you’re with shared company. I used to hate it, and would chose saran hair variations if I could. However now that I’m more practiced, I don’t mind it. Especially since saran hair is so heavy that styles fall. And although it looks shinier, I’d love for my Barbie’s styles to keep. But again it’s a new found love. I originally didn’t prefer it.
