😎! I have the foil tip for the joy xtra. After my warranty is up, can I use it for score lines using the basic cut feature? Following the instructions based on the engraving you did in this video? Or, will you make another video on scoring with the joy xtra, using the foil tip and basic cut feature?
Also question… do u keep operation as basic cut? Just before u load Matt change your tool ? Also what kind of acrylic or the brand? Or what was the max thickness
@@chastitymcelrath556 as noted in the video yes it’s all done as a basic cut function. Everything used in the video is linked in the description. For the joy the acrylic needs to be quite thin as the bar sits very low. The extra can do a bit thicker but not much as again the bar is low. I go over all of that in the video.
@@michellyn no. The maker tool only works in the maker and the maker 3 for the joy you need the tool I have linked in the video description. But here is the direct link as well amzn.to/3yCyyTk
@@shannonneill227 thin metal yes. I tested it with a spatula from dollar tree, I don’t have any copper to try but that’s a pretty soft metal so it should work just fine
I’ve always assumed it would void it if something went wrong when using a non-Cricut tool in a given machine & someone wanted to try to get the warranty to cover repairs or more. I’ll add that if someone has a credit card that offers extra warranty beyond a manufacturer’s when paying fully for the item with the card, then I suspect the same issue would apply if seeking some type of coverage. Not to suggest at all that you didn’t, Corrine, test this & other adapters well before sharing, but I don’t want anything to happen to my Cricut machines even after any warranty has expired. I already had an issue like that & it wasn’t due to using any adapter or incorrect usage (my Maker rubber rollers at the ends we’re getting damaged by the gears).
I’m a lil confused they say the joy and xtra doesn’t engrave but there is an engrave “blade” or whatever u call it on Amazon that says it’s specifically for cricut joys and it’s for actually engraving…?! lol WTH. I’m going to try this but I’ll prob be confused the first five times lol
@@chastitymcelrath556 as discussed in the video the tool is not made by cricut and cricut did not intend for the joy to engrave. The cricut joy and joy xtra have the exact same blade housing and holder which means they share the exact same tools.
Just used on my Joy Xtra to make a Christmas ornament. I apply vinyl to back to make engraving stand out. Loved how it turned out.
I just got this exact engraving tool on Amazon. Thank u for this video! Now I'm gonna try it!

@@annavannoni yes you can do that
@CorinneBlackstone cool! Thank you!
Thanks. I will try this on my Joy and may add paint or vinyl to the back for some color .
I do want to try this, those are adorable ❤
Great video!!! Can’t wait to try this on my maker???
@@dianneclay4145 I have videos with the maker it’s the cricut tool but the tip for lining up will help
Interesting! Perhaps this could do scoring on cardstock with a lesser pressure, I'm currently using the foil tool for that.
@@EdCardinal-MindThump it’s fairly sharp but it might work
Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome! I hope it was helpful 😊
Would these settings work to em emboss leather ?
Possibly. I haven’t tried it personally

Thank you, Corrine! :) This awesome!! Are there other blanks that you can engrave on?
@@juliasnider5905 plenty. Like I mention in the video they do need to be fairly thin to work with the joy but you can find lots on Amazon

When you use images for engraving, are they specifically for engraving or you can use any image?
@@rachelzelmanovich9300 these were just random images not made for engraving
Sorry for the questions 😬 just learning…is there a way to engrave with the outline of the images filled in?

Great video. I wonder, how would Cricut know if you used a tool that voids your warranty? Is there something on the machine that lets them know?
@@Trina7594 they wouldn’t. There is absolutely no way for them to know. But people get all mad when I say that stuff in a video
Great video! I have a question. When you took the cutting blade out of the joy, how did you get it to stick to the machine where it is?
@@budrfly57 there’s magnets on the machine that hold the door up but you can stick your blade housing on them too
