Just a heads up, if you export from Canva as a PNG without a background you can keep the transparent background which would save you the issue with the green! You could even print that version as well. 😊
Great job. As a former Cricut user they have been shady since forever. I stopped purchasing after the Cricut anniversary edition. The. Last year my husband bought me the joy. Now they want you to buy the xtra. Always to purchase the newest machine are their goals. I like how you outsmarted them 👍🏾Good for you
I caught the game years ago. Cricut, Apple, and Silhouette have a similar practice. And trust that they freak out when other companies swoop in and take away business with knockoffs that work for ⅓ of the price. I'm not sure what is meant when you say - cricut is not allowing the print feature anymore with the Joy. The joy was never a print, then cut machine. There is no optical camera in it. There was a youtuber that did a different hack years ago with so many less steps, and you could use design space for everything, and no additional software. You just had to trick the machine. I wish I could remember because I did her hack, and it worked. I'll try yours. Thank u.
@@andreatthatsme I seen the other workarounds as well that allow you to do the printing from with Design space. I watched the video linked to this one which shows the this very thing. However upon scrolling the comments you learn that when you go to switch your machine to let’s say an explorer so you can print you are now required to register that machine in order to unlock that option. If you own another machine that does print than cut but just want to use the joy because it’s smaller and easier to move around then your good. But for people who only own the Joy it’s the shady business of Cricut to block people from creating the workarounds. Many people were commenting this over on the other video. So it seems the “2024” workaround is that you can bring your file into Google doc or Word to print it that way. I’m going to explore printing it from Canva and see it works. By exporting the sticker file,re uploading it to Canva and printing it on a US 8.5 X 11 page size
If it helps, there is an easier, and much faster, way to have a perfect white border around your image. Even on all sides and follows the image exactly. To do so: Import image Select image-> edit image Scroll down to effects, select shadows Choose the option “outline” Set size to 100 (or lower if you want the border to be smaller) Change color to white. That’s it. You can adjust the size of the sticker if you like or leave it as is. Hope this helps 🙂
I have NEVER commented on any youtube videos BUT THIS ONE is the most useful one I've seen.!! Thank you so much, just like you, I just recently got my Joy and the update really did not help. Thank you for this, really! :)
Really happy to see this video cause I have been sitting with an extra in my cart for months. I just have not been able to pull the trigger cause I knew there use to be workarounds for the Joy. Which I own. Cricut being shady and removing the ability to do the older workarounds in the original app is no surprise. The goal is profit. Looking forward to trying this workaround. Curious, I know there are other ways in Canva to make sticker offsets have you experimented with that?
Not sure if its the same problem I had, but my laptop that runs windows 11 couldn't detect my cricut joy for awhile. Try going to settings > bluetooth and devices > devices. If you scroll down there's a setting called Bluetooth Devices Discovery. Change that from default to advanced, and you should be able to detect the joy after that. Also, they just so happen to sell mats that fit the joy at the dollar store. They're a darker green color, but since they're less expensive it's a good option for converting to a sticker mat.
Used to have Windows 10 and now upgraded to win 11... the bluetooh problem still remains: my PC do connect with my cricut joy, but DS doesn't. I don't know what to do anymore... =(
OMG!!! Thank you so much for creating this video! I tried three other work arounds but unfortunately, none of them worked until I tried this one! Thank you so much! I'm subscribing immediately, and yes, I'd love to see the glass coffee cup tutorial! Please keep them coming! #lifesaver
Thank goodness I cam across this video before I almost bought a Bluetooth dongle when I found out my Cricut Joy wasn't connecting to my computer and I just had this thing upgraded last a few weeks ago. You're a lifesaver. o7
I was also having trouble connecting the joy to my comp, if you have Windows 11 then you need to go setting > bluetooth & devices > scroll down to Device settings > where it says Bluetooth devices discovery, change it from Default to Advanced. And that should fix it. I was able to connect once i did that :)
Hi Alyssa 🤗. New subscriber here from Florida 🌴. Really enjoyed watching this tutorial. I do have a cricut joy which I want to start playing with. I like how you demonstrated this video for a beginner like me. I would love to learn more cricut joy projects. TFS!!! Gloria 🥰
Hey I just want to say thank for this video❤ it really helped me with my new circut joy 😊 and yes definely gotta better sticker paper myself but appreciate you very much
You cut rotate the image and put two on one page so u dont waste so much 😊. PNG while exporting gets u the print without background so u dont have to do the whole process with the green.
I was debating between Joy and Xtra, and your video convinced me that Joy would be enough. Why do you need to draw a rectangle line on the mat when a black rectangle is already included on the printout? Thanks.
This is a workaround video. So I’m advocating to everyone if you can’t afford it just go for a joy extra. They’re currently on sale and we’ll go on sale many times throughout the year once I get my coins together that’s the route I will go. the workaround is cool but it’s a lot of trial and error nonetheless
for the green outline there is actually a setting before you remove the background if you scroll down to “more options” then “colour tolerance” and set it higher (mine likes 68), just see which number works for you then select the background!
2:28 I would not recommend the Cricut brand straight line cutter. It doesn’t have a guide wire (like almost all other brands do) which makes it hard to make precise cuts.
You should just buy a cricut Joy extra that comes ready or the box with the Print then cut capability and you will not have to worry about using the work around. The original circuit Joy does not support the making stickers features which is why this video is a work around. Which is cool. And I’m glad to have this video as a resource cause I’m not ready to invest in a new machine want to keep using my original Joy.
Cricut Joy app is not going to be supported anymore. Regular design space is what you want to use. I don’t recall the Joy ever being able to do print & cut - that and size was/is the draw to the Xtra. I have that also (4 cricuts in all) and really love it.
Please help, Im up to the cutting part and it wont let me choose material load, keeps saying my design isnt campatible. My design is a circle with a hole hollow out in the centre
Can you still use design space to make a sticker sheet then save to desktop and open with google docs so you can print to a printer? or do you have to only make stickers from another site, like canva? thanks
I couldn't get this to work. When uploading an image to Design Space now, the options look different (I'm not sure how to describe it). Such a shame. They just want us to upgrade I guess 😮💨
Hiiii! Hmm unfortunately I have not touched my cricut in a hot minute so I am not so sure about what you’d have to upload. I know a pdf works best for my set up
Cannot work out what im doing wrong. Whenever i print them out they always come out a bit smaller than my borders? Absolutely checked ive changed the sizes correctly on every app but not working and never aligns properly for the cut :(
I'm having a similar issue! I found a workaround for the Google Doc issue - I just saved the same sizing/border from Canva ALSO in Canva but on an 8.5 x 11 page. I still uploaded the original 4 x 6 Canva JPG to Cricut Design Space for cutting and it worked out.
Just a heads up, if you export from Canva as a PNG without a background you can keep the transparent background which would save you the issue with the green! You could even print that version as well. 😊
Ohhh I bet that does work! Thanks for mentioning that. I will try it out next time I am making stickers lol I should have thought of that.

Yeah that is kind of what I have noticed... I hope I can continue to use the Joy for a while!

This is awesome. I don’t know that I could ever do this but I think it’s cool that you did. I hate that they took the Joy app away I loved it. Thanks
I was determined to find a way lol
I love the way you explained it and totally going to try this, thanks!! Please more Cricut joy videos 🤌🏼✨
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you, I have been looking for way to print stickers on my Joy since the update. Well done 😊
Thank you so much! Every video I found insisted I could connect CDS to my printer but I couldn't. You are amazing.
Glad the video could help you out! ❤

Love your work station. A friend ofine has 3 screens in his office and 2 screens in another. I always wondered about that😅

wow thank you very much for this. it's really frustration to make it work with cricut joy. hope i can follow this one
hope to find more ways to do cricut joy projects...
Since my sticker paper is 8-1/2 x 11, I think you can print it landscape and get two sticker “pages” per sheet. Maybe?
Yeah you should be able to! Just cut it in half after so it fits through if you have the Joy
@@AlyssaSowers yes I have the Joy. It’s still packed in the garage, but will find it soon. 😉

can you use a printer with a tray feed?
As long as it prints in color you should be able to!
I was debating between Joy and Xtra, and your video convinced me that Joy would be enough. Why do you need to draw a rectangle line on the mat when a black rectangle is already included on the printout? Thanks.
Glad the vid helped! I add the black rectangle so that when I am cutting out the shape that I get a perfect 90° angle to put on the mat! 😁

Im not sure If i missed the step to show how to get the cricket just to cut your white shadow outline and not around the actual image?
You have to have one copy with the outline and one without it 😁
Hello! I’m planning to buy cricut joy for my stickers. Is it still worth it?
Yes I would say so! I really like how sleek and small it is for storage too
You should just buy a cricut Joy extra that comes ready or the box with the Print then cut capability and you will not have to worry about using the work around. The original circuit Joy does not support the making stickers features which is why this video is a work around.

You can probably use other sites such as Picmonkey! As long as you can create a transparent image.
How to export my project in design space to my laptop? I have cricut joy as well :(
I don’t know if you can. It should just stay updated and saved in the Cricut design space app

Ahh that’s so frustrating. I am really not sure what is causing that without looking at it :/ I hope you were able to figure it out!
When i go and print from google docs, even if i am setting the size, it does not print the correct size. Do you have any tips for this? Thank you
Hmmm I’d have to see what it says but you for sure went into image size and re-sized to your mat size? Also is it regular sized paper?
I'm having a similar issue!
I found a workaround for the Google Doc issue - I just saved the same sizing/border from Canva ALSO in Canva but on an 8.5 x 11 page. I still uploaded the original 4 x 6 Canva JPG to Cricut Design Space for cutting and it worked out.
Thank you thank you thank you! Whew.
How do you fix if the images doest cut in the right way?
