I just wanted to jet you know I subscribed because you put out a relevant video in 2018 on an old piece of gear that is still great like the POD X3Live. It’s probably my most versatile piece of equipment. I just picked up an Eleven Rack (another dated gem) as the world is moving past some of the gear I’ve long coveted, prices are dropping and I’m finally getting to enjoy some great gear from just a few years ago. Thanks for this and your eleven rack vids. Great job!
I've been toying around with real speakercabs, mics, amps... endless changing out because I never got the tones I wanted. As soon as I tried my pedals direct into IR everything started to sound better (for me at least). And it's sooo much less effort and gear needed to get the tone right. Recordings are way eaaier. And no need for feedback supressor because of microphones
Line Pod X3 live is my main tool for decade ! You have to keep that all factory preset sound like crap ... You had to learn how each step of modulation work and create your own tones ! 2 second thing that important to keep in mind, is that not made for use in front of your amp ... is really made for plug directly in the PA or for direct recording on a computer. You can use the two tone option for a second amp tones, a second instrument and a microphone ! You can have reallly nice voice effect with that. I use it mainly for home use with headphine (audio technica) When someone come to jam with me. I found that i had a better sound when i plug the x3 to my home audio system than my guitar amp. i use the headphone output to plug in my audio systems. With jam track the sound is awsome !!! I use Reaper to rec directly from the device with a usb cable to my computer. My buddy come home with is bass and he said that some realy good tones for bass in this all to do unit !!! Really great device ... who pass under the radar because all people dont understand what this unit is creating for ✌🏻
how great are mooer, not only do they have products like the preamp live, which give helix/kemper a run for 1/4 the price. But they have products like this that can make outdated tech completely usable again! Long Live Mooer! Spread the word!
This pedal may seems like it might be a good solution to better Cab impulses, but if you already have a laptop, with the line 6 Gearbox software it's better to go with Rosin Digital IRs through your DAW. Their impulse loader called Pulse is free and comes with a couple of free cabs from the website and the real cab IRs are only 8 bucks a piece. And without any eq to the mix they make my X3 live sound as good as the AxeFx almost in my opinion. I have a mini PC I use just to process my pedals tones through one of my DAWs to send the cabs wet signal through my xlr direct out. Now I can use it them in live situations. Or into my other interface as stereo and take up less CPU when tracking on my main computer.
+Brandon Wardlaw: Yes, the Radar is actually a live situation solution only. For recording, toy can always use IRs in the DAW. BTW have you used the mini PC to play through VST amp sims abs effects live? Which PC is it?
Rhitosparsha Baishya I just change patches on the pedal itself with the gearbox software. Not sure of the specs. I got the PC used from a pawn shop a little bit a go. Reaper DAW uses little CPU though and the latency hasn't been an issue at all.
Here's a video you will want to watch. He takes a POD 2.0, turns off the cab sims and runs it into external IR's. The results speak for themselves. ruclips.net/video/QJLcEQy9o2Y/видео.html
Wow! Awesome video dude. Can you use g5n s preamps as well, because i am planning to buy mooer as well mostly for custom irs but stock would work too if i could hear them somehow!!!
I had a choice between between the x3 and the hd500 i went for the x3 because i didnt wanna buy the expansion packs for the hd500 and a lot of people ade saying the x3 is closer to the real thing... i knew radar's uploadable IR would make this thing sound even better so im glad im not selling my old modelers...would definitely say would go up against any modern modelers
Hi! I bought the radar, plugged it into the x3 and... it sounds like a Termini Station bathroom! What type of connections are you using (4 cable? direct? amp return?)? And which output on the x3? combo front? Please help me before I throw everithing in the Tiber river! Grazie
You DO NOT NEED a Helix or any current modeller to get a decent sound, my pod HD with external IRs sounds great, of course, if you do not currently own one and are willing to spend the money buy a current gen, you will also get more features that a pod HD or x3 just dont have, your choice.
where is the actual audio heard in the video coming from? are they coming from the monitors and the room is mic'd or is this the internal audio from a pc? just wondering how to go about getting tones to play live with a band. does all this go out the window once youre playing with drums, bass and possible second guitar?
I have a Pod XT Live pedalboard and purchased a Mooer Radar, I wanted to know, when i plug the pedalboard to the radar, what output mode do I have to use in order not to double up something? Also, I see you have the poweramp option in the radar disabled, is that how am i supposed to use it too?
Yes the line 6 pod models are full pre/power amp models, so no need for an external power amp sim. But just set the output of the pod the same as you would set it to output to a normal power amp. And make sure you have the internal pod cab simulation turned off
Holy crap! When you kicked in your IR the tone was transformed! Were there any changes made in the X3 itself or was it the same tone with just a different IR?
Sounds good, but I wonder what if you customize the X3 Live presets to achieve a better sound. I bet you can get very, very close to the sound we hear here from the two machines linked together....
@@ChopTonesOfficial yes, good and quick, but since the Line6, as far as I read everywhere, has a deep editing, I would like to read some users' experience about using equalization somewhere to improve the sound. They say, regarding all these multi-effects, "forget about presets, dig on your own!". More, if memory helps me, they say that on these Line 6 amps are good and effects so and so ( the opposite for, let's say, Digitech RP1000...). Nevertheless, a very good demo you made. My respects!👍
ur custom irs are really killer...i wish to know about the stock cabs of mooer..do u think they are good or its better to use external irs like urs?plz suggest..wishing to buy one
Although manual says that the output is balanced (TSR), people used to say that's not. Anyway, is the output of the Mooer Radar unbalanced or not? Could you please check? Nice video and congrats!
Awesome!! A good IR can make a great difference! Hoy did you connect the Mooer Radar to POD X3 Live? FX Send/Return or just Live Out (RCA)? Best regards from Argentina!
Goddamn, wish I still had my POD X3 Live. And it was given to me, freebie! Now that I have a couple of decent IR loaders (Digitech CabDryVr & a NU>X Solid Studio), add a few decent pedals, and it'd be really handy. Guess I'll stick with my Hotone Binary AMP for amp sims.
ciao, praticamente entrate nel radar? Io sto provando la stessa cosa con un pod xt live e un moer micro preamp. Cosa dovrei settare sull output mode per non storpiare il suono? grazie
Hey choptones, I just got the Mooer Radar today and can't find the Mooer Studio software for windows...when I go to the download page on their site my choice for windows is there, but when I download it to my computer It gives me a RAR file...I can't open this file. For kicks I downloaded the Mac version and it comes a s a normal compressed Zip file. Why can't I find the zip file for my windows computer...did you have a similar problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
how do i hook this up to my interface if im using bias fx on ipad with an tirack ipad DI would it go before the DI or after in a MONO 1/4 (the one going to speaker) only issue is it doesnt have Left/Right input/output and i use 2 monitors with a 1/4' lead going from the mono out L/R of the interface so how would i utilise this pedal correctly can anybody help? would i just have to run it in mono?
I recently obtained a Mooer Radar and have subsequently been plugging everything into it, and it seems to make a decent tone out of everything.

I love my Radar! It was eye opening to see how much good IR's can improve tone!
Chop tones should notify guitarist: Lincoln Brewster immediately about these advancements 👍🎸🎤🎧
This just brought my POD X3 back to life. Holy shit
And you won't find a pedalboard with some of those FX for less than 1k today.
I've been using it just to run effects for years xD
I was looking for a backup solution for the AX8, but maybe this and my old XT setup will be enough! Thanks!

It makes a huge diff for sure..you can get decent tones out of x3 stock but this thing takes it way over the top to the next next level
Sold my axe fx and gonna try this out now thst I have more time to play. Thanks
This is a killer vid bro ! 100% ear candy throughout ! A1
Damn, that sounds good.
Damn back to life !!! People don’t throw away your out dated gear it will be redeemed!!! 😂

Rhitosparsha Baishya ,yes I used it live. it's actually a little Windows PC/ tablet with Windows 10. I'm not sure which model exactly.

What did you use for effects switching? Also, what was the latency like? Also, could you tell me the specs?

Rhitosparsha Baishya nice Schecter by the way. I got my first one, Damien 7 string, recently and I was impressed with the quality.
Could you try this on your older gear like the pod 2.0 and older stuff?
Why not... ;)
Yeah!! with POD 2.0, one video please !!
POD 2.0 is the ultimate IR test!

Can you show how u set up the mooer radar with line 6 X3 live
You can get amazing sounds but you have to play with the parametric eq
send (hd500) to input radar, output radar to return (hd500) & output xlr (hd500) to PA
I have one but I didn't know I could get tones like this.
Wow! Awesome video dude. Can you use g5n s preamps as well, because i am planning to buy mooer as well mostly for custom irs but stock would work too if i could hear them somehow!!!

Buy? Buy what i own the HD500X and never bought any expansions. They were all free.
@@ceez3841 there are expansions. the metal, vintage pack and a bass one if i remember correctly
I juat picked up an x3 live for the money its hard to get more
Is there any problem with latency cuz the pod has bit of latency and also the mooer I mean for chugs it's okay but sweeps at 260 bps and stuff?
O Mooer Radar foi ligado no Send/Return ?
Hi, how can you connect the Pod to the amp without having problems with the delay? Thank you.

The stock mooer radar cab sims are shit...to be honest its a bit expensive because its stock cabs are shit but the uploadable ir is where the money at
Eric Kindel thank u alot 😊
AWSOME playing and great review
Just tells you how important guitar cabs and mics are to the tone.
still sounds shitty
@@davidhaolai lots of people can't afford a helix/axefx/kemper. Doing this mod will enable them to use the older modellers.

Sounds great, huge difference !!
What speakers/guitar amp are you using? And what type of connection do you use? ie: (front of the amp, fx return)
Hey man. How did you connect all this? I’m assuming from POD’s 1/4” out to Mooer then to audio interface?
How do you conect the Radar to the POD X3 live? is there a diagram?
2023 and still waiting for the pod x3 + moer radar patchs :(
All our IR could be loaded in the Mooer Radar :)
Would be cool to hear the same volume level.
Louder sounds better ofc.
hi very good sound ! how does it work in a stage situation ? compared to a tube amp and you put it direct to P.A system ? thanks

Yes, please, both (POD X3 and POD X3 Live)!!
mooer into pod's efects loop ?
How do you think will this sound with a POD HD500? Im considering this small box to resurrect my POD HD. Lols
how you setup the Outputs? Direct? Combo front? Stack Front? Combo poweramp? Thanks for the answer!!
Direct

do you know how to set it up as a pedalboard so you only use the x3 as effects and my tube amp for the real signal

Is this thru a guitar amp or an active speaker?
Direct to the Audio Interface
