  • A quick video today to see if the 20-year-old Line 6 POD sounds better either using the built-in speaker emulations or bypassing the emulations and using IR's. The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

    Yep. It goes to show that the actual amp modeling was NOT the weak link in the early Line 6 gear. The third party IR makes the POD shine! Well done!

    The Pod Line 6 2.0 is unexpectedly a masterpiece that people are rediscovering. I hope they don't suddenly shoot up in value like some of the Vintage amplifiers because I want to buy a couple more. I have already figured out on my own some things that can be done , but I will review this information you showing and greatly consider

      @@Jeferson2219 greetings! My advice is to not get rid of your POD 2.0 …
      Myself, I am a metal dude and I LOVE tube amps… but I like an ampless setup after dark so I won’t wake up the house…
      I run a overdrive pedal into my POD 2.0 and then I run THAT into a MOOER Radar cab pedal and I get AWESOME results.. I highly recommend that setup if you don’t want to rely on a CPU…
      Give that a shot…
      I don’t know if you do Metal or not, but the MOOER radar cab sim pedal works REALLY well with the POD… The OD pedal is for an extra “kick” when I need some sauce for the distortion…
      Another pro tip… make sure you turn off the cab sim from the POD to get better results with your MOOER radar… I got my Mooer Radar used for $99 bucks from GC. AND the MOOER Radar pedal has a headphone Jack so you can play silent and it sounds like your playing in an arena through some good headphones…I’m pretty sure there are other IR pedals that would work as well, but I was amazed how that sounded through my studio monitors! Cheers! 🍻

      The increased clarity alone with the IR on is very noticeable, but for certain music, I really dig the ballsy sound of the POD by itself. 😁😁😁

      I’d like to get one myself for my tube amp Lol . I know nothing about IR’s wouldn’t know how to rig it in . I guess if I had all the IR’s studio equipment already would be great . But I’d go and buy a pod 2.0 and IR, and what ever else you need might as well buy a pot go or HX or similar there of that has IR capabilities and turn off and on at will . I’m not of all of this because I just started researching all of this about a week ago but all had struck my curiosity we all want good sound through a tube amp and the cheapest way possible who doesn’t .. So if I can get in the territory I want with my tube amp go into FX loop or front of amp and still kick butt I’m in .. the IR thing depending what all you need is a whole knew bit for me and if cost for a pedal isn’t bad I’d try it but If all is costly for start up might as well purchase something that gets you there already that’s somewhat not as much hassle Cheers 🥂 but all in all like the concept and would to try myself 🤘

    Did this with a Boss GT-10 and software speaker IRs in Garageband when doing some home recording during lockdown last year. It sounded much better than the (admittedly poor) speaker sims in the GT-10.

    Do you have the POD on Amp mode or A.I.R mode (that little switch by the output)? With the POD direct I would guess AIR mode but when going through the IR box you use amp mode? Does it even make a difference I wonder?

    I’m new to this, so maybe this is a dumb question, but if you’re bypassing the amp sim and using IRs, what’s the value of using the POD instead of just plugging straight to the IR?

    • @pipespeeps5349
      @pipespeeps5349 5 месяцев назад

      And ir is just a capture of a microphone or several into a cabinet, the pod is acting like the amp, so of you were to bypass the pod you would just get a direct signal into a cabine(ir) and it would sound pretty direct and lifeless
