Not the video we requested, but the video we needed. Seriously, this kind of thing is a real antidote for GAS and all the money going into marketing new stuff we don't need.
Absolutely agree. Whilst I've got some product videos on my channel and I've got a few others scheduled that I've already made, I'm trying to strike a nice balance. I don't want my channel turning in to a big advert. There are some interesting topics I'd like to explore. Thanks for the comment, appreciated. Ben
Have you ever tried direct connected to a big mixer for concert. Most old processors does not sound good on big systems, while they sound good connected to PC or small systems
I got my original POD out after many years and was blown away! I have had loads of modellers since but the POD still sounds great.I don’t think things have really moved on that much.
I still have the Pod Pro rack unit and use it. Plus the Pod XT Pro and bean, and the HD bean. All good working units. I have newer stuff but the old gear was such a break through. It can hold up to today's gear in some ways.
Okay my good man first of all I loved my pod from the second I saw it. We were inseparable LOL and now I'm getting back into it again after playing through other things. And when I heard you start to play especially the slide I had to instantly subscribe. I think I'm pretty damn good and I hope to be smoother cleaner and better like you. I'm close but the combination of your playing in that tone from the pod is monstrously inspiring to me.!😎⭐✊
Awesome sounds over there sir.. May I ask how can you use the 4x12 or speaker cabs?.. thanks.. I'm quite confused with how to use this one.. have an old line 6 I got recently.. and it's all new to me.. thanks...
I’m new to home recording, didn’t look into this until I was watching the interview with Jef Wrest from leviathan and he had one and see everyone raving about it I bought one off eBay
How are you getting on with it? There are a tonne of great modern versions of this, but you can still get some solid tones out of the pod 2 for very little money.
@@BenFletcherGuitar just placed the order! Unfortunately I didn’t read the fine print on eBay and it said for guitar parts only meaning something is wrong with it? I emailed the company to find out exactly what’s wrong with it so hopefully it’s nothing or cosmetic defects.
Going by the sounds you were getting I would have believed you had you told me it was a £1300 Helix floor unit. I am left wondering if there is a twenty three year old pod 2.0 hidden inside the big shiny modern Helix units 🤣😂🤣
Thanks, man! Yeh, I was surprised with the sounds. Like I said in the video, I gigged one quite a bit and then switched to the latest and greatest, so it was very interesting going back to it with fresh ears. I do like my Atomic Amplifirebox though. That's such a practical unit being so small with two foot-switches and being 9v. Great sound live too, very smooth. I'm in no rush to change that for anything else. Considering 99% of the gigs I play are backing track pop/rock gigs, the Atomic is basically my main rig! Fits in the end pocket of the wires bag too, which is a bonus.
The only difficulty I ever had with it was learning how to properly use it. Lots of potential there. Unfortunately, it seems that a lot of people never bothered reading the entire manual.
People ask me all the time how are you doing that ? My pod 2.0 works so good I'm looking to buy another backup !...I got the foot pedal also. I stack 1 or 2 other foot pedals and I sound like I am a bass and 2 guitar players.Trouble with musicians they are like women looking for the latest fashion while their closet is full of 60 pairs of shoes.
They're great bits of kit. I plan to do something else with this one at some point. Thanks, man! I started doing slide tapping some years ago, I tend to use it in a rock setting, but I've never found a way to fully work it in to my style. There's a way I think. I stated getting it to work with a pull off behind the slide too, so you're getting vibrato on the middle note of the cluster. I'll keep trying to expand the concept though, because I think there's mileage in it.
i feel like the amp models amp models quality havent changed that bunch in 20 years, it's mainly the ir's that change the sound alot, if you use a modern good ir with the pod the sound would be night and day difference.
@@RyanChenMusic I just checked it out. He said it with a smile too. I then went and watched a clip of them playing at the Olympics. Sounded great as you'd expect. So he played live through one, to over 2 billion people worldwide! You gotta love that.
I wanted one so bad when they came out for my pawn shop peavy acoustic amp to get some distortion. I got the cheaper digitech 100 instead. It just crapped out a few months ago, the amp died about 2 years ago. 18 years was pretty good. That stuff was pretty good, not the best but not as bad as most people say.
When the POD's came out I remember they weren't super cheap. I certainly couldn't afford one. I think in the end they were selling them for something like £49 in PMT. Shows you the perceived value once it's no longer new and shiny doesn't it?! Digitech made some great stuff and it appears as of last month that they may not have disappeared after all. 18 years isn't a bad return on your investment, I think you made the right decision. Thanks for the comment, Ben.
Ha! Thank you! Yeh, but then the Kemper does other stuff doesn't it? I've not had a chance to really mess with one, but it's got all of the profiling stuff happening. That said, there's a thing called a Tonex now that does profiling for 400 quid and apparently is very good. The technology has gone from 1400 down to 400 in only a few years. Another 10 years and even I'll be able to afford it, ha!
@@BenFletcherGuitar to be fair, I'm mainly a keyboard player and only play guitar for songwriting demoing purposes or the odd originals gig, so the Kemper was never going to be my kind of spend. I know this though: the best amp I've ever had is my Quilter Aviator Cub. I sold a Magnatone and a Fender Super Sonic following getting the Quilter. All analogue, too.
Man you got to understand this thing is a hot rod , oh yeah man you can put turbo boost on it and Nitros.. I found out when I about blew the roof off the house thinking I would be okay at volume 4 -1/2 but quickly discovered got to turn it down 3

I’ll second that. I’m actually looking at a PC interface to access some extra features only accessible on midi.
The slide sound is really impressive. Interesting video. Thanks.
Very kind, thank you! I was surprised how good this thing sounded after all this time.
Great video on the Pod. I still have mine and use it regularly. Still works and does what it says on the label.
Thank you! That's great that you're still getting use from it, some good tones to be had from it for sure.

Funny enough, I just got a pod 2.0. Got a floorboard to match and am getting an fb4 for christmas for when I want to travel lighter. Love it.
