Stihl 021 Connecting Rod Crankshaft Uncaged Needle Bearings Install

  • Placing uncaged connecting rod crankshaft needle bearings back in a Stihl 021 and also a Stihl 025. Sometimes we tear down a engine and forget that some bearings are uncaged and they go everywhere. A high tach oil would probably work better than grease but you take what you got and work with it.
    Starting a small engine shop from the ground up takes alot of work and determination. If anyone would like to donate or invest in this small business I would be very thankful.

    Put a magnet on crankshaft makes it easier

    Glad I found this video was about to throw out my 015l got a parts saw with a good cylinder so I ported and polished it went to put it on my mint 015l all the bearings fell out but she is back together now and runs alot stronger now it was my first port and polish job I was some upset until I found this video thanks alot you have a new sub now lol

    Stick one end of the crank shaft in a vice with hard wood spacers, then you'll find it HEAPS easier!

    That was an early 1. Those used the same construction the 009, 010, 011 & 012 used. Use grease & make damn sure you don't lose 1. Stihl makes a tool for that.

    I would probably use very heavy solid grease to let needles stick in place and after installation of shaft flush grease with diesel or petrol .

      I use vaseline, because it's petroleum jelly.
