According to Irving, the Capitol was under siege by demonstrators & Head of Capital police told him things were out of control but... Irving 'couldn't recall' if he had to think about whether HE had to make a decision or HE had to ask superiors ('run it up') or not? How could he not recall such an important moment in response to a request to call up the guard? Laughable if it weren't so despicable. I saw video of Capitol police effectively escorting flag-carrying demonstrators (not insurrectionists!) through the capitol hallway and down a stanchion-lined path in vestibule in a very orderly fashion. I see where these Capitol officers were seen as 'complicit' by the General but really simply felt unthreatened by the AMERICANS who wanted entry to the building in a peaceful protest. They were keeping watch over the 'rioters' rather than just letting them pass. That took way more courage than Senators and Representatives exhibited who ran from their constituents. Not a Congressional 'leader' in the bunch; just guilty cowards!
