It's a Warwick/Framus, bass/6 string (Warwick own Framus), Infinity/Panthera combination. It's in the catalogue but a custom shop special order and POA. (Of course !) Somewhere around $14,000 US or more.
He achieves the acoustic sound by using a piezo pick-up in the bridge and a Kemper modelling amp.
AFAIK, the Kemper drives no speakers but is DI'd into the desk, probably at -6 to 0dBm*. . . . . . 🙂
* Or 1mW into 600Ω if you prefer.

Gina you should watch the whole concert. It's amazing. I'm 65 and have listened to alot of music. 60s thru to present day but nightwish is a different breed and my favorite.
You know that you are a good Singer when Floor jansen is your Backup Singer!!!❤
This was a concert at 61+ degrees latitude North so dusk lasts a good long while up there.

Warwick is the bass, Framus is the guitar. Both are owned by the same company, though.

The Beast is a custom Warwick/Framus bass & guitar doubleneck. This was a show from Finland and the sun sets very late in the evening. Marko has a pretty good backup vocalist.

Nice pick Gaye. 👍. Marko wrote the music with his first band ,Tarot. But, it didn't fit with them. Tuomas heard Marko playing it one day and thought it would make a great song, he then wrote the lyrics about a lonely lighthouse keeper. Song is on the 2007 Dark Passion Play album, Anette era.
The 2nd spoken part roughly translates to "If I play the chorus, you're gonna sing along, right?" - "Yeah!" - "Are you sure?" - "Yeah!" - "Ok, let's do it"

Yep, 'The Beast' is a custom combo Warwick Infinity bass with Framus Panthera guitar. Both brand names are owned by the same company. Very heavy and very expensive.

124 Spider here. Hello GINX Marco's double neck guitar is: - Warwick Infinity / Panthera Double neck Bass and Guitar - . And btw, in several diferent songs he uses diferent Warwick guitars, like - Warwick Buzzard Bass - at the song Ghost River. - Warwick Vampyre NT - at the song "The End Of All Hope". - Warwick Infinity Masterbuilt - at the song "The Carpenter" . And more that you should know. That show was made at night. But in Filand half of the year, the nights are like that. Not a black night as we are used to.

Hi Ginx, for more of "The Beast" I recommend Elvenjig/Elvenpath where he will switch from guitar to bass mid song.
Edit: If I'm not mistaken it is a combination of a Warwick bass and a Framus guitar.

I like weasels! - They came back in time! The Beast was handmade for Marko - Warwick Infinity / Panthera.

Did you know that Marko won the Masked Singer Finland a few years back? I didn't recognize him. So shamed about it...
Marco is wonderful, one of my very favourite musicians.
He's also a really nice man - someone here will tell you the story of meeting him in a bar and Marco going back to his house for his sins birthday
I thoroughly recommend his autobiography,beats and all, called Stainless?
Cannot be too highly recommended, right up there with Phil Collins autobiography.
The Beast is, of course, custom made for Marco. Marco is a Warwick exclusive artist, but Warwick and Framus (who make 6-string) are part of the same group, so the group built The Beast to his spec.

To the dusk thing - yes it looks as if this show starts in day and ends at night - the last song is The Greatest Show on Earth and that appears the end almost in darkness but in the final aerial shots you can see it is still day.
Marco alone can claim Floor Jansen as his backing singer and this concert was special for them - his home territory in Finland and Floor's parents were in the audience.
Look up the music school reunion video where they tracked this show and showed Floor being asked about her career by her teacher at the Rock Academy in the Netherlands. It is a very moving video - Floor in tears brings anyone who watches to tears also.
Marko is the reason I mainly play Warwick basses. I have two high-end Vampyres.
GINX - there is a rumour going around that Marko has a t-shirt with "Floor Jansen is my backing singer" on it - probably not true - but Oh, how I wish it was......

Marko Hietala is the godfather of Finnish metal! The Beast is a Warwick bass and Framus guitar. It's very heavy... created by Warwick for Marko.
Thats a "thing" .. if you are good you are good, then comes Ohh.. you are in NW ? dammit you must be great (every member is great in his/her way; incluedes the ones not longer there and CrewWish)
The official studio clip is also worth watching, where Marko sings lead too, for that was what Tuomas had in mind. Anette would do the backing. She did real fine, but when Floor comes in, Floor wants to go full out and challenges Marko to go for a spectacular. final.
Though I love Nightwish's live performances generally, this one is particularly spectacular. I love the slow introduction of the other bandmembers, and Marco's sense of humor comes through even in just his facial expressions.

Loved your reaction. Tampere is home field for Nightwish. Near their hometown of Kitee so the band rally puts on the best possible show when they play there.

At this point of the year as like on the clip, in the brink of August(31st of July) the summertime is almost over...It´s considered so in these north latitudes.
Midsummer Fest is celebrated on the third weekend of June here in FIN.

Gina I just saw you reacted to nightwish the islander what a beautiful song Marko and floors vocals were perfect they have that affect that draws you in on this composition. Then Thoumas is a great song and composer much like jari of wintersun Gina. Then there's empu the guitar player and Troy on the wind instrument that complete the magical sound of this music piece. Oh yes we can't forget Kai or other wise known as the human drum machine that was formerly in wintersun with outstanding percussion skill in this preferomance so let's all of the ginx crew give a standing ovation for nightwish and the dutch windmill momma floor looked as beautiful as ever Gina I could picture you in my mind in the same dress and make up as momma floor too. Marko wrote this song. The Nightwish video when it was first released is worth seeing (during Anette's time, but you barely hear her).

The Beast is a Framus/Warwick combo. These originally separate brands are nowadays merged together, so Marko, who's been playing normal Warwick basses for a while, was able to order a combo where both bass and the guitar were to his liking.

Ginx, that guitar is a double neck Wskarwick, made in Germany, Marko only plays Warwiick guitars. It's a Bass upper neck and a 6 string lower neck, he calls it the Beast because it weighes 14 pounds!!!!
If you watch the entire concert, there are points where you notice that the video settings change. It starts to get really dark during TGSOE. But when they cut to the drone shot of the venue you see it is still daylight.

It's a great performance by Marko and the rest of the band. I especially like how others went to rest a bit and Marko remained behind to entertain the crowd, then other said "You know what, let's join in and support Marko with this" and went. Now of course I can't say that anyone ever said something like that, but it's just the thought. And they came out and joined in, but as a backup and support and left the center of stage, the limelight on Marko. Like, "It's your song and your performance buddy, go for it, we're here to back you up".
As for light then this is how summer nights are in this part of Europe. Pretty much for almost 3 months nights don't get dark, especially in middle of summer, night looks as if Sun was covered by big and dark cloud, just so much as to block some light from coming in but still pretty clear and bright and before you know it, Sun is back in it's full glory. Further up to North there's literally half a year where nights are dark and half a year where nights are like that.
24/7 sunshine in summer i bet it was raining HARD before this event in Tampere.
No credit to them, this is home for them, & no accident that it is dusk, for they have a fireworks show, on the agenda, with the song "Greatest Show on Earth". Are you ready for that? Sixteen minutes.

Tampere is 61.5N in latitude, so in the summer the twilight is very, very long. Because it's well south of the polar circle the sun does actually set, but it doesn't get completely dark for hours, if at all.

But yes, summer nights up here in north are magical.
