There has been, but just not for a while after the 6s. The a9 was 75% faster than the a8 in the iPhone 6. And the iPhone 7, 8 and x all slightly improved but not noticeable. The performance jump they made next was with the A12 Bionic chip in the iPhone xs, xs max and xr , every iPhone with an A12 Bionic or higher gets all the new iOS 15 features and runs smoothly and gets the new camera software too, where as the iPhone X and below are missing a few of iOS 15’s features like spatial audio in FaceTime etc, and the camera apps are much more outdated compared to the xs and above which all have quicktake and every other benefit you get from image processing which is only enabled in the A12 chip and above. I think they’re next step up will be the a16 bionic that comes out with the iPhone 14 and I also think that’s when they may cut off the iPhone 6s and 7 in terms of updates followed by the iPhone 8 and x the next year, because the a11 did bring a bit of improvement over the a10 but not as much as the a9 over the a8 and even the A12 over the a11 which is also 50% faster
@@steffjack9798 apple will support the iPhone 7/7 plus a year or so beyond the 6s because of its quad core chip and apple has many recent devices with the a10 chip like the iPad 7th Gen and iPod touch 7 and plethora other of devices. So I definitely expect to see the iPhone 7 getting iOS 16 or even 17 before it gets dropped.

And then of course with the a14 and especially the a15 there’s literally just no loading. So I personally don’t even see why they would stop supporting iOS for those even by then because they’re just so powerful I don’t see them getting any slower, and I can’t see how they can make a chip faster than the a15 already is. Of course I’ve been excluding high performance games and apps those will always have loading on anything slightly faster on each, maybe that can reach instant opening like the a13-15 but besides that, iPhones are perfect now and I would even include the a12 being close enough to perfect.

Also I wish apple runs out of iphone 8 parts so we never see the iphone 8 body again, I don't wanna see that body again and I don't want to see another ipod touch again either, instead lower the price of the iphone se 2022 to $249 and replace it with their ipod touch cause anything above that price isn't fair for a phone with a 5 year old recycled parts and camera with slight software and hardware upgrade, I'd rather pick up an iPhone xs over the se 2022 crap, maybe even the iphone x I'd say is bettert than the se 2022 even though its the iphone 8 with a modern design and slight hardware upgrades I'd prefer that over this se, their is just nothing like the first gen iphone se. However as for recommending the iphone 7 series for a little more money you can find a used iPhone se 2020 for under $200 while the iphone 6s and 7 are around that $100 price point, unless your on a very tight budget than the 6s and 7 are worth it but if you end up paying more than $70 than the iPhone 8 is the phone I'd recommend not paying more than $100 however if your looking for something like a higher storage iphone 8 or in a slighly brand new condition its still around $170 in that case the iPhone se 2020 is 100% the choice for roughly that price, I was shocked see ing the se 2022 using the iphone 8 body I though they would recycle iPhone 11 body but no, they could've throw away the iPhone 8 parts rather then selling it cause almst no one is gonna buy it it's 2022 and even in 2020 it was already to outdated.

I owned the 7. I currently own the SE 3 with my SE 1 as a sidekick to the SE 3. I'm really more of an Android user but I'll tinker with iPhone when I can. Yeah, headphone jack is a must. I own AirPods 2 and battery life sucks. I get 3 hrs for music. Kills more battery for my phone and I need to recharge it.

until yesterday i used the 6s 32 gb and i just got a 7 with 128 gb. they both are still superb. just watch the Apple keynote according to your ne old iphone and feel good to have the fastest iphone ever made. :)
Slowly but surly over time apps will stop getting support which will make your phone less usable. You’ll eventually also stop getting security updates and also you won’t be able to take advantage of the latest iOS features which can make your phone feel dated and less functional.
i use a iphone 6s in 2024 on ios 15. Its a pretty solid phone for the price, the only downfall is the battery dies way to fast, so if your looking for a decent phone without spending too much money you should probably go with the 6s, i would recomend just having a portable charger with you at all times as mine lasts like a little over an hour on a full battery so yeah, or you could go with the 7 the battery lasts a little longer but not too much maybe like 5 extra mins lmao

Agree, even with iOS updates, the iphone 7 has bad battery life and the A10 chip is a little dated as well. If there is the budget, it's probably more cost effective in the long run to consider phones released after iPhone XS/XR (came out in 2018, which would be 4 years old in October/November)
Good luck, but honestly if you could I’d recommend getting an iPhone 8 at the bare minimum, so that way you won’t have to upgrade in one or two years after the iPhone 6s will most likely stop getting updates.
