Why do we keep inviting Joey back? Simples: we are beyond proud to call him our friend and we love hanging out. We also think his insight, musicianship and all-round Canadianness is a good thing for the world, so we want to share it as much as possible.

@@bigpapachance Never understood the buzz around Chris Whitley. Saw him twice at a large local fair; unremarkable. Joey, like Bonny, Sonny, Derek grabs you with the the first notes.
POTs wise, I put VIPots in the second time round and measured the neck pup ones to be in the 490k range and the bridge pots to be in the 515kish range. If I recall correctly. *edited cause i had values backwards.

Modern or 50’s wiring?
Joey’s guitar is next level. Great job and kudos for using P90s in a LP style guitar, a heavenly combo for sure. Amazed that they aren’t more popular/common than they are. Would love to check out more of your guitars, especially a double cut LP Jr style if one is in your line up.

fawbak. - you could email Sebastian, the owner of ViPots, and ask for a metered set? Or at least a duet Metered as low as possible. I purchased 30 or so (being a builder) and metered them all that way, but he may be willing to indulge you?

Joey playing though that Juno Chorus is the stuff of mythology. I've heard that tone in my head a million times. I'm awe-struck over here.
Ah it's not just the tone either. It's ~music~. I sing classical music and we spend years perfecting the tone of our voices, and when it's right the music seems to flow on it's own. Joey is singing with his fingers.
Between the likes of Joey Landreth, Chis Buck and Josh Smith, we're so lucky to be around guys that are so generous with their talent and knowledge. It's unprecedented. Thank you TPS for the incredible content, as ever.

Seeing this makes it so clear that people who turn their nose up at the sampling/synth/loop stuff guitarists are doing are the same people telling kids in the 50s that electric guitars are just a bunch of noise.

I love rewatching this. It seems like Joey is always inspired by the sound he’s getting whether he’s playing with the tone controls to show how they sound or if he’s shredding with a fuzz on. What an inspiration.
when you mix in the two notes and the pedal gets brighter on video is the most satisfying thing I've ever seen on this show.

Watched all three Joey Landreth shows today, what an awesome way to get through lockdown. There were tears, especially on some of his clean sounds. This is tone mecca and I am just a humble pilgrim starting out on the path.

I was lucky enough to watch Joey play on my birthday this year, and the show blew me away. In regards to musicality, technical ability, and harmonic knowledge, there are very few people who can touch Joey. Such a likeable personality to top it off.
The affection and respect these guys have for each other is absolutely contagious. And man... not only can Joey flat-out play, but his gear knowledge is ridiculous and his humility is so welcome. Just an amazing episode all around. Thanks, guys.
Love everything about this episode, guys - literally everything. From the awesome way Joey uses his pedals, to his truly inspiring playing, from the Grolsh-like strap lock to the bit Mick mentioned about being in the industry, touring, doing your own merch (would love to see a show on that, or at least hear your guests talk about it). You guys have a relationship with Joey that really makes the video feel good and no doubt could have turned into a 3-5 hour video! Really great stuff and no doubt I'll come back to watch this video again a few times more. Also good to see Joey using a CountTo5 and seeing how he used it/how it inspired him - I've owned this pedal for a few years now and love it, but don't get around to using it much these days. Brilliant episode, thank you.

So human, the realities of touring and being tired, and needing to reconnect with inspiration. This is I wager the whole point of this show, and pedals in general...keeping it fresh, bringing the joy.
Day two watching this, once he gets to the fuzz, and then the chorus pedal Ry Cooder stuff, it’s like being in Church of the Holy Slide
I wish people would close their eyes and soak in my playing the way Mick does when Joey plays. I guess I have to settle for cringing, but hey, that's an emotion too!

Great that such a tremendous player is so focused on the sound for the song, with technique and gear in service of this. There is a difference between a player who has “a sound” and those players that have “one sound”, too. Watching guitar and gear demos on RUclips is seldom this captivating. Well done guys.

I saw Joey and his band in Bristol recently, it was a brilliant evening. Thanks guys for introducing me to his music. It’s evident he’s a really friendly and engaging person as well as being an awesome musician. Hopefully his amazing slide style and technique will inspire new guitar players to pick up the instrument.

Great to remember it's not just about playing guitar, it's developing sounds and soundscapes, expressing yourself, really listening and enjoying sound, total immersion ... the music therapy we crave.
