    In this video we revisit the @HenryUSA Brass Axe in .410 but this time as a short-barreled shotgun. As an SBS, the Axe is a much more handy setup. Eric also discusses some of the ammunition considerations for this particular shotgun and which shells to avoid.

      @@justincolt2558 indeed. Remember that a 410 slug is usually 1/5ounce...which is 87.5 grains. The 45-70's lightest projectile is 300 grains and the standard projectile is 405 grains...

      @Nathaniel Shrock Not even black powder .45-70 levels... Plus the range is about 1/4 that of modern .45-70, and .410 costs MORE to shoot (for slugs at least) than 45-70 by a decent margin, at least in my area. I like the .410, but a .45-70 it is not, lol. It's about on par with moderate .45 colt, a much more fair comparison in terms of energy (though penetration will be drastically higher with .45 due to projectile mass so even that is a spurious comparison...)

    • @arrived63
      @arrived63 Год назад +1

      With my first 410 I had the issue you described. I solved this by collecting 410 hulls (ask around you will be surprised by what people save), checking they fit, passing on those that didn't, and then reloading them. It's not hard, doesn't take long and you can vary the loads to what suits you....and you save $$$$. If you are in 'Merica you have some great sales support that we don't have here; and no UPS ripoffs.

    I dont think its a poor design by Henry, because they would have addressed that by now. I thinks its more of low end ammo, like running steel case ammo. Some firearms like it, some dont, some will run it all day 7 days a week. While some have malfunctions and parts breakage in the first 50 rounds. Never trust cheap ammo for self defense, or for consistent plinking.

    Cool looking, but who the hell can afford to shoot .410 these days?! In my area it's about $30 for a box of Federal #4 bird, $10 for a box of the same load/brand in 20ga, $12-13 for 12ga. That's when I can find .410 at all, which is very rare. The last time I saw it the 5/8oz (I think?) slugs were $4 a pop, lol. Nah... .45-70 is almost half that!
    It's FAR cheaper to run a .44mag lever gun at about 70c/rd, even though the price on .44 has doubled in the last 2 years, let alone .357 or .38spl. It would make a great rabbit gun, but so does any number of .22's that cost 12c/rd for Mini-Mags.
    Gun itself looks awesome and I don't have any beef with the .410, I own 2 .410's myself, but the cost of ammo is one of the most ridiculous in the entire shooting world.
